That’s got to be a haiku or something… Anyways…
THANK YOU for all your positive comments, tweets and Facebook posts regarding project food blog! Voting for challenge #1 is open for 3 days so, if you feel inclined, you can still get your vote on!
(ps you guys totally schooled me on Sweet Tango apples. I’ve never even heard of them, but will be on the hunt this weekend!)
In other news, seeing as how it was a hot and toasty, summer-esque day, I decided to have a final farewell fling with my grill and cook up some burgers for dinner. Stuffed Garlic, Herb & Bacon Burgers to be exact!
The idea for these babies came from a restaurant I went to this weekend in Chicago. I had an insane burger with tomato, brie, bacon and balsamic vinegar reduction on pretzel bread (I know) which I used as inspiration for my rendition, which had tomato, Garlic & Herb Cheese Spread, bacon, tomatoes and grilled green onions!
I seasoned my burger meat with dehydrated chopped onion, garlic salt, salt, pepper,
and, every burgers best friend, worcestershire sauce. A little dab’ll do ya’. It takes a patty from good to GREAT!
At any rate, you know me – when I make a burger with cheese it’s usually stuffed inside, and tonight was no different! I started by lining a peanut butter jar lid with foil, then laying a sheet of plastic wrap on top.
After I seasoned up my meat, I sectioned it into 8 portions and smooshed 1 portion into the lid.
That’s when I broke out the big guns. Alouette Garlic & Herb Cheese Spread! I was kind of hating the fact that I decided to buy light, and it did taste a little light right out of the container, but it ended up being perfect. You’ll see.
I used a cookie scoop and plopped a big blob (just wrote blog!) right in the middle of the burger patty.
See?
I took another portion of meat, flattened it a little then sealed it on top and around the sides. Make sure you seal that baby tight!
I stuffed 2 and left 2 plain – can you tell which is which?
Grill, baby, grill!
We’ve got an erupter!
Woah!
I threw some green onions on the grill next to the burgers. These cook up really quick, so I stood by and flipped them frequently for a couple minutes.
Wilting,
wilting,
perfect.
Ok so this is why you seal your burgers tight.
No problems with this guy!
Cooked for 3-4 minutes aside – these were done in no time!
I topped my stuffed Garlic, Herb & Bacon burger with, what else, bacon, a fresh slice of tomato and of course my grilled green onions!
Piled HIGH!
Ooo, I could not wait!
I warmed up some of last night’s roasted vegetables as an easy side dish, and dug in.
Um, the warm, gooey cheese totally lost the “light” taste when it was paired with the charred onion, smoky beef and salty bacon. WOW, this was spectacular! Perhaps my favorite stuffed burger recipe yet?! What a great way to say ‘see ya’ summer!’
Actually, a great way to say see ya’ summer would be to follow this dinner up with a trip to Dairy Queen for a mini blizzard, but I’ve got a mile long to-do list that I chanted to myself during my run this afternoon so I wouldn’t forget…
“Post, pedi, peep, bills, apply, email. Post, pedi, peep, bills, apply, email. Post, pedi, peep, bills, apply, email.”
You get the idea.
Gotta scram, goodnight!

I knew there was one more stuffed burger left in you!
Awww, nuts, now you’ve got me craving a mini blizzard, LoL.
They look YUMMY. Quick burger question: how do you get your burgers well done without all the cheese leaking out or becoming charred?
Those burgers look great! You are so crafty with your burger ideas. I’ve never heard of tango apples, either? Please let me know if you try them!
I voted for you! Good luck!!!
I think it is so funny that when you meant to write blob you wrote blog. A few of my friends and i call blogs “blobs” sort of a funny inside joke.
I am not a big burger person, but all of your stuffed burgers really make me want to try them!
Love, love, love it!
Holy..yum.. that sounds amazing!!!!!
a dairy queen mini blizzard…yum!
Gorgeous burgers…and you had my vote as of 8:15 a.m. CDT!
Looks awesome!! I thought I would share that I make my burger patties inside a round cookie cutter. It is super easy and I no longer need to worry about the plastic wrap inside a plastic lid. Ooo, and I voted! Good luck!
Oh my goodness. I’ve seen the “stuffed cheesy burgers” on the food channel before- but never thought to make them myself! I’m speechless… they look fantastically decadent!
I seriously love your stuffed burgers! They look, as always, super tasty!
Yum!!! Love the idea of the onion just simply on the grill! Perfect!
I love your stuffed burger recipes! I must try another one soon!!
Was the burger from Kuma’s? If not, you should bring Ben to Chicago and go sometime, they have the BEST burgers.
What a cool method… I have always had trouble ‘stuffing’ burgers… the peanut butter lid seems to work like a charm!
i love the idea of grilled green onions! Yum!
Omg, NOM!!
My husband and I saw a place serving burgers on Pretzel Bread on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives the other night. He was dying to try it… low and behold, Hy-Vee has Pretzel Bread in the bakery this week. Super delish! Soft bread with a little taste of salt at the end. I def. recommend it!
I was watching the show ‘Unique Eats’ last night on the Cooking Channel, and they were raving about the restaurant Kuma’s Corner…which served their burgers on pretzel bread! I thought, what a small world! Could this be the same restaurant IGE raved about on her blog? If so, the burgers looked so delicious and inventive!
[...] knew what we were having for dinner since last week when I saw this while browsing “my” blogs. And a burger was the perfect ending to not only Sunday but to summertime. [...]
