Busy in the Kitchen!

42

How AWESOME was The Office’s opening montage last night?!?!

It captured each character so perfectly: Andy’s cartwheel, Pam’s adorableness, Erin’s random roller skating, Kelly & Ryan fighting, Dwight biting heads off of stuffed animals, Angela’s “I SAID I didn’t want to be on the Internet!!!!” and, of course, Michael’s inability to stop flipping doves out of a magic stick.

And OMG that random, awkward HR kid from :50-:52? I’m still laughing!!

Ohh anyways, I made a filliing Vanilla Almond Butter & Banana Smoothie for breakfast today!

DSC_0007

In the mix:

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 Tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 scoop vanilla whey protein powder

DSC_0012

I’ve been making smoothies for as long as I can remember, and this has always been one of my favorite combos. It’s sweet, but not too sweet, and the salty flavor from the almond butter is ootw!

DSC_0011

I’ve actually been busy in the kitchen today, because I cooked lunch up this morning too! Sesame Tofu & Rice.

DSC_0015

My Mom wasn’t feeling well so we skipped our morning walk. I was up anyways out of habit, and hadn’t planned anything for lunch, so I mixed some pressed, extra firm tofu with soy sauce, agave nectar, sesame oil and garlic powder, then popped it in a 375 degree oven for 20 minutes.

DSC_0006

Roasty and toasty.

DSC_0001

I love that crust!

DSC_0004

I also cooked up a serving of brown rice in water, with splashes and dashes of the same seasonings I cooked the tofu in. It makes the rice taste SO good!

DSC_0020

The whole meal was done before I finished this post! :D

DSC_0017

I laid the ‘fu and rice over a bed of fresh, baby spinach for some nutrients. It’ll steam it a little bit from the hot rice and be a perfect, wilty texture when I dig in around noon. :)

DSC_0021

Already, better get a moooove on it – LOTS to do today!

Oh – TGIF!!!!

Tell me your must-see shows on television!

My staples are Gossip Girl, The Office and 30 Rock but I also dig on trashy television shows like The Real Housewives (NJ & OC only, please,) Teen Mom and The Jersey Shore. I know…

Grey’s Anatomy (though I’m hoping the next couple episodes are better than last night’s opener), Private Practice, and Big Bang Theory. Although we’re a season behind for Big Bang Theory, so that’s Netflix. :) I’ll watch other things if I’m bored, but I’ve made myself choose just these shows to follow otherwise I’d always be watching TV. Though I will note, we have a soft spot for 30 Rock and often fill free time with that show.

If you love the Office (which in my opinion has gone sort of downhill since Season 5 but I still always watch), you MUST watch the Community! I bought the whole first season and although the first few episodes are shaky, the season and show is really solid.

I also love Mad Men, Dexter, and Parenthood.
