Ask Me Anything

Ask me anything you want to know about Iowa tourism and I’ll tell you about it.

Just kidding.

While I’m still no expert, I sure had a lot of fun learning about the industry, for my new job, at the Iowa Tourism Conference this week! We learned, ate, collaborated, ate, networked, ate and, well, ate some more! Notice a theme?

Conferences are always centered around food, and this one was no different. I felt like I was eating every hour! Our beverage breaks even included Blue Bunny ice cream bars.

It’s funny how I won’t give snarfing a Birthday Cake Ice Cream Sandwich at 2:30pm a second thought when I’m at a conference, but would never dream of doing so during a regular work day. Good thing calories don’t count when you’re at a work event, and YES, that sandwich was as delectable as it looks!

Good thing the conference center had a nice gym, too, which I utilized for a good walk one day and a run the next. It always helps to have easy access to a treadmill to feel like you’re not completely derailing your healthy eating efforts while away from home.

Speaking of, I wanted to make a nice, home-cooked meal this evening, but just wasn’t feelin’ it. Know what I mean? Chipotle (and the husband who went to go get it) to the rescue!

This bowl had excellent rice pockets. My favorite!

I am SO glad to be home, but guess what? Tour de Iowa recommences tomorrow morning, as Ben and I are heading to Iowa City to root on our boys – the Iowa Hawkeyes – while they mercilessly crush Wisconsin’s football team. MUWAHAHAHAHA!!!! (knocking furiously on the wood in the above photo…)

Hey, I’ll relax when I’m dead! :D

Have a great night and I’ll talk to you on Sunday!!

Do you work out when you’re on vacation? Do you have a rule – less than 3 days, no – more than 3 days, yes?
