1 exhausted IGE!

WHEW! I have spent nearly ALL day in the kitchen cooking my tootsies off! If you would have peeked inside my windows around 11am, you would have thought a bomb went off.

There was spices spilled on the countertops, cranberry sauce splattered on the stove, crumbs everywhere…

I never said I was a tidy cook. :)

I was working on some recipes that’ll be featured in my November Q Magazine article, all about healthified Thanksgiving foods (I have a DOOZIE of a dessert for you!) and for a contest I’m working on. Here’s a sneak peak!

All recipes to be revealed in due time. Due time.

I ended up not being able to get to the gym because I ran out of time (and still have some work to do!) so I counted my mad sprints around the kitchen for 4 hours good. Plus I still need to do some vacuuming before Ben gets home so…arm workout?! ;)

Tonight we’re watching Get Him to the Greek with Jonah Hill & Russell Brand. Apparently it’s supposed to be the sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which we have literally watched on repeat it’s so funny. I’m looking forward to it. :)

Leftovers from today’s shenanigans shall be on the dinner menu, and a glass of wine shall be in my hand. Red or White? That is the question…

Have a great night everyone!

Friday evening beverage of choice: wine, beer or other?

ALL my girlfriends drink wine, but I just can’t really get into it! Although I did have some AMAZING semi-sweet Edelwiess white wine from a local winery a couple weeks ago and I do ADORE Ménage Trois red wine blend. I’d say if I’m going to drink wine, I usually prefer a semi-sweet white. Otherwise I’m a Blue Moon/something fun type of beer gal!

I like wine and beer and enjoy switching it up. My favorite is Riesling, but I love a good citrusy beer!

I am also a big fan of riesling, which is what I picked up for tonight! Specifically, Snoqualmie Naked (organic) Riesling. After a crazy busy day, I will be having a glass equal to or greater than the size of my head. :)

I’m not big into wine either, but I went to a wine-tasting in British Columbia and liked it enough to buy one bottle since (in two years lol).

My dad apparently makes good red and white wine.

That link is to a winery in western Iowa (Elk Horn to be exact) that has some AMAZING wines. You should check it out!

I’m a vodka-soda-two lime girl. If it’s wine, it’s red. Rarely beer, although I LOVE to brew beer at home! :D

I’m more of a mixed drank girl, but I’d take white wine for a relaxing evening! I hate red wine.

i come from a long line of beer enthusiasts(what a thing to be proud of). i’m too used to associating red wine with the eucharist…and i sorta think white wine tastes smirnoff ices, the kind you buy your friends as a joke. weekends are fun<3

Blue Moon! That’s my fav. If not that then I’d have to say moscato or sangria.

Can’t wait to see the recipes! On average, how many new recipes do you make in a week? I am lucky to make one in a week but often it’s only one new one a month! I appreciate all of the new recipes. Although I miss the breakfast meals, it’s nice to get some new ideas for dinner. For Thanksgiving, I have an apple crisp recipe that I got from Rachel Ray (if I recall) that I love. It’s about as calorie friendly as you can get for Thanksgiving and it’s a breeze to make.

    Have a great weekend!

Naw, I don’t do wine or beer really. More of a spirits/liquers girl.

If I must drink beer, it’s got to be light and ice cold (or cider). Wine – got to be white and dry. Haven’t had too much experience with sweet wines yet.

  13. Comment Callout

I’d pick wine! I can’t do beer because I don’t like the taste. In the evening I prefer a merlot or cab sauv. So relaxing…

Tonight I’m drinking Birds and Bees (sweet red). Can I ask where you got your wine rack hanging on the wall? I love it and the minimal space it takes up! Ever have any problems accidentally knocking a bottle out of it? I love your website, since I came across it a couple weeks ago. P.S. I’m a Hawkeye Alum!!

We LOVED Get Him to the Greek… it was hilarious!!! I’m definitely a wine girl, although when I was in my earlier 20′s I was totally a beer/liquor drinker and despised wine haha funny how things change? Enjoy your night!

I prefer wine, but I like beer too. My favorites are Riesling or Shiraz for wine, and Blue Moon for beer. I also like margaritas, mojitos, and sangria. Tasty.

Oh I love mojitos too! There was a mojito malt beverage out this summer (I think made by Mike’s) and it was really yummy!!! I hope they bring it back next summer!

You would like White Merlot. Beringer and Sutter Home both make yummy, budget-friendly White Merlot.
I drink whatever I’m in the mood for. Tonight I’m having some white wine, and I had my hubby pick me up some Four Loko for tomorrow night to drink before we head out to the bars!

Get Him To The Greek is AWESOME. It’s not really a sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshall, it just happens to have two characters from it (only one is reprising his role from FSM).

Hope you like it! The fur wall is my favorite part!!

I’m definitely a wine girl. AND I like it all. :) There are a ton of GREAT local wines in the Des Moines area and it’s always my fail safe to check the “Iowa Wines” section if I can’t make a decision!

I Love Rieslings with a capital L. This is because while other types of wine are hit and miss for me, I invariably always enjoy a Riesling.

I can go wine or beer, it all depends on my mood. But at heart I am definitely a beer girl & last night no exception, I cuddled up with a movie and a terrapin (don’t think they sell it up in Iowa). Hope you enjoyed Get Him to the Greek, I’ve been wanting to see it!

WOW! Great feast is what I’m looking at…though at 9:30 in the morning I will admit I’m not jealous…but if I came back at noon I would be for sure.

    Answer to your question…wine!

    I love both.
I am definitely a big wine girl & love to learn about new wines and pair wines with foods. however, i also love a good, natural beer!

If you like semi-sweet white wines, try Cupcake. It can be found at Target and I believe is an Italian wine. VERY good! I am happy usually with either. I love Blue Moon, but also enjoy Shiner or just a Miller Lite. Barefoot (also at Target) makes a REALLY awesome Moscato too. White and very sweet but goes really well with fruits and cheese. Yum!

For white: Relax Riesling. Not too sweet, but flows quite well :)
For red: It’s easier to get into reds by easing into it, and finding what you like. I look at reds to really enjoy and go slow. I suggest trying a Pinot Noir if you are a newbie.
