Dr. IGE is in the building and I’m sharing my 3-step prescription for getting back on track after over-indulging on Thanksgiving turkey, stuffing and pie – oh my!

Step 1: Drink Plenty of Water.

I’ve glugged about 5 of these babies today and feel so much better after eating a big Thanksgiving dinner yesterday. Water the morning after splurging on food or alcohol helps re-hydrate your body and also helps kick-start digestion. So drink up why don’t ya’?! :D

Step 2: Sweat it Out.

A good gym sesh always makes me feel better after indulging – both mentally AND physically. This afternoon I got off my arse and pushed through this slightly random, but totally effective, treadmill routine!

Step 3: Get Back on Track – NOW!

A couple years ago I might have called the whole weekend a wash after overindulging on a special occasion, and eat without abandon until I’d "start over on Monday." Now I know better – it doesn’t have to be that way! There’s no time like RIGHT NOW to get back on track. Put down the pumpkin pie and get cookin’! Tonight I focused on all things healthy & fresh for dinner and whipped up a simple Veggie Stir fry.


I started by sautéing onions and garlic in ~2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil over medium-low heat.

When the onions were translucent, I turned the heat up to med-high and added broccoli, green beans, broccoli slaw, snap peas and a small drizzle of more EVOO, then sautéed until the veggies got a little color – ~3-4 minutes.

Next I splashed in ~1/2 cup chicken broth, then put a lid on the skillet to let the veggies steam until tender.

Finally, I threw in some spinach,


and sun dried tomatoes, then stirred until the spinach wilted.


FYI – sun dried tomatoes are one of the most FANTASTIC ingredients out there.


These guys are seriously sweeter then candy and are super chewy. The burst of flavor is the absolute best in dishes like this!


The whole mixture got seasoned with salt & pepper along the way, and when the brown rice cooked in chicken broth I paired it with was ready go – I plated up!


So light! So fresh! So healthy!


I swear to you, olive oil, salt & pepper is the greatest flavor combo in the world. It’s just so simple and good. Know what I mean?! :D


Bonus Step: Ditch the Guilt.

If you overate, don’t sweat it. You can’t go back in time and change what happened, so there’s no use re-hashing it over and over in your head. Move on, drink up, sweat a little and eat something healthy. K?!
