TGIF!!!!
I swear, since moving to a 10 hour, 4 day work week, I feel like my life is flying by at the speed of light. I don’t know why, and I don’t know if it’s a good or a bad thing. Don’t get me wrong – 4 day work week? WIN. Life passing by so quickly? The jury’s still out… Do you also feel like the older you get, the faster time flies? Eeek – there’s still so much left to do!
At any rate, I took the morning to sleep in ’til 7:30 (you know you’re getting old (or crazy?) when that’s considered “sleeping in”!) grabbed some coffee and a meeting, ran some errands, then almost got the rest of my Christmas shopping done – WHEEE!!!!
I’m still in the “almost” category because, between my two brothers and Ben’s two brothers, I have three brothers left to shop for. Why, oh why, is it SO gosh darn hard to pick out gifts for boys?! Maybe you can help me. They range in age from 20 to 30, with a WIDE variety of interests. Aka, anything goes. Any ideas?
I was famished after shopping, so I whipped up a Southwestern Egg Scramble for lunch!
That’d be seasoned ground beef leftover from last night’s dinner, topped with 3 scrambled egg whites seasoned with salt, pepper & hot sauce, topped with cheddar cheese and salsa!
I debated heating up a couple tortillas for a little breakfast burrito action, but was craving toast.
Shhh, don’t tell, but I have a dirty little secret called I’m currently obsessed with buttering things with a whole stick of butter. HAAAA!
Sorry, but it’s so convenient and it feels naughty and fun. In reality, I end up using way less butter than I would if I was using a tub of butter too. Yes!
A perfect edible utensil for chowing my scramble.
In other news, need a thoughtful gift for the local enthusiast in your life?

They’re all made right here in the USA = a gift/company you can feel good about giving/supporting! Plus, TODAY ONLY you can get 15% off your order online! Use code “Holiday2010″ at checkout. In other news, my house magically turned itself into a little pig sty overnight, so I’ve got to get to cleaning it! Oh, and fixing my kitchen sink sprayer, which fell apart in my hands this morning as I was trying to use it.
Really?
Have a fantastic afternoon and I’ll see you tonight for dinner and to announce the winner of the Barney Butter Snack Pack Giveaway (there’s still a couple more hours left to enter!)
See ya’!

What’s your dirty little secret?

Time is going so fast for me now that I quit my job (because I’m happier) that I literally CAN’T believe it! It is FLYING.
I’ve also been meaning to tell you that since your recommendation of using Cetaphil moisturizer on Twitter, I bought it and absolutely love it. Great stuff!
Oh good! It’s so thick and moisturizing. Perfect for re-hydrating at night!
That meal looks delicious, and I love those shirts. I’m totally going to check them out!
They should make a “Proud Transplant” t-shirt for Iowa – I’d totally sport one!
Yes, I have to agree. The older I get, the faster time flies!
Cute shirt!
Idk if this is a secret… but I am super hungover right now! Ha! I’m getting old, too.
I know boys are hard to shop for! Boys always like video games. Or maybe some new gym gear?
Hmm ever been on fredflare.com ? They have some funny/cool gifts like pint glasses, ipod speakers, etc.
I just checked out the website for the shirts and am definitely going to order some!! What size do you have?
I have a small on! They fit pretty true to size.
Okay for boys I feel like tickets to things are good. Comedy shows, sports games, concerts I feel like you can’t go wrong. This year my sister and I are getting my dad a beer basket. Full of beer from different local breweries and from the cities we live in (D.C. and NYC) We are also going to get him a t-shirt and beer glass from at least one brewery. Other ideas: tools, video games, and books.
Hope this helps. Love your blog!
That sounds awesome! I love giving food basket kind of things with trinkets in them!
That’s a neat idea with the butter stick. I like it!
And yes! Time flies by the older you get. I feel it too.
Just wait until you have kids…You blink & suddenly they’ve grown a foot. I kind of hate the fact that come January, my little boy will be closer to being a kindergartner than to being an infant.
As for my dirty little secret…If I fry meat of almost any sort, sometimes I come back after the pan has cooled & snack on the carbon-scored bits that are left!
I don’t mind when it flies by Mon-Thursday, but I wish my weekends would slow the heck down.
And my dirty secret…I don’t wash grapes before eating them..unless I can see the dirt. Literally a “dirt”y secret.
what size did you order? same as you usually order?
I have a small on! They fit pretty true to size.
GUY Presents – Hmmmm…Probably Gift Certificate to Starbucks, BlockBuster, or Local Movie theatres – maybe bookstores.
I bought my best friend who is a dude a Wine aerator for his present. He is into that sort of thing. Loves wine. So what do they like to do?
Dudes love food, so maybe something foodie, especially coming from you would be good… like Cheese and Salami and cracker basket with beer!
Well, good luck and have a wonderful rest of the day!
I do the butter thing too, it works really well when the butter is too hard to spread. I do it a lot on my sweet potatoes
My dirty little secret is that I’m two timing tonight. Hanging out with one friend at 4pm then another at 8pm! I just couldn’t say no to either of them!
I was just out shopping for my husband over lunch, and was saying the exact same thing to my friend. Why are men so hard to shop for!?
that plate of food sounds like heaven…simple and delicious!
Love the tee!!
ThinkGeek.com has some random and interesting gift ideas for guys!
Super cute t-shirts! I’m going to get an Iowa one too!
I just ordered the Iowa locally grown tee with the windmills! I live in Chicago but I was locally grown in Iowa! Thanks for the tip and coupon code, IGE!
You bet!! Enjoy the luxuriously soft T!
I LOVE LOCALLY GROWN CLOTHING! Great shirts. Great company.
There’s a perfect gift idea for guys! What guy doesn’t like a comfy tee?
UM DUH. Why didn’t I think of that?! Off to order one right now!!
Yes, time does go faster – I’ve heard because you’ve got so many more memories to stuff the new ones in between. It get’s crowded, but don’t roller coasters always go faster at some point?
Those Tees look great!
I’m also having a hard time shopping for my brother, but I think I figured it out. Not sure if any of your brothers are still bachelors living on their own, but my brother wants (read: obsessed with) the Presto Pizza Pizzazz. You put things like pizza or other man like food on it and it cooks it quickly.
That lunch looks tasty!
.
Love the shirt, off to check out their website….NOW
I love almond butter and banana sandwiches. The best is toasting them on the panini press so they get really gooey.
OMG I swear the SAME thing just happened to me recently!! I was using my little sink sprayer and the handle came right off for no reason at all!! Fail. Glad to know I wasn’t the only person this happened to!
Just ordered a T-shirt from Locally Grown for a gift, they need to make some for Michigan
– Thanks for the great idea and the coupon!!
Not from the same company… but here’s a clever Michigan shirt: http://michiganamericashighfive.com/
My mom is from Michigan so we got this shirt for my brother and a few of my cousins for Christmas this year!
my dirty little secret is that I love hot chocolate powder–plain. i put on top of yogurt and ice cream and do pretty much everything with it other than make hot chocolate!
That is hilarious, my husband does that with powdered nesquick!!!
I have that shirt in brown and I love it!
I got it at the farmers market this summer. I’m 5’6 and got a medium because I don’t like super snug shirts. Just some advice to anyone thinking about ordering a tshirt!
Honestly, I love peanut butter on apples (my FAVORITE), but I’ve NEVER tried almond butter, so I’d love to be able to see how the two compare
)
I have a locally grown tee and love it!
For our wedding, I ordered the groomsmen monogrammed beer mugs with their initials on them, and they loved them. Then we gave them some specialty beers too. Best off all, I got them off etsy for like twenty dollars, and they are nice, and heavy. They were a great deal!
That is exactly how I butter my corn on the cob…use the whole stick!
It just seems easier that way!
My dirty secret – I love those Doritos “Late Night Tacos” tortilla chips. So wrong, but oh so right. They kind of remind me of a Happy Joe’s taco pizza!
those shirts are awesome…and they’d be even more awesome if they made a new jersey one.
