History was made in the IGE household today…Ben and I went grocery shopping without a list OR a budget!!!!!
I know!!! Miss plan down to the last penny / I will catch you if you try and sneak that into the cart, let her hair down and went buck. wild.
Like I mentioned yesterday, we have friends coming to stay with us for the weekend, and decided that we want to be really fun hosts with tons of yummy food, so we headed over to Trader Joe’s and the regular grocery store this morning to stock up. Without a list. Or a budget in mind.
Ben said it was the best day of his life.
Here’s our booty:
In corner 1:
- Snack crackers
- Lays potato chips
- 3 layer hummus
- Bruschetta mixture
- Crispy Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies
- BBQ Potato Chips
- Brie wedge
- Blueberry preserve-covered goat cheese
In the middle:
- Pita Crackers
- Arancini Bites
- Multigrain Flaxseed Crackers
- French Onion AE dip
In corner 2:
- Freschetta California-Style Pizza
- 12 Grain crackers
- Scallop + Puff Pastry bites
- French baguette
- English Muffins
All of this was only $50, too! I think we got some great deals.
While our guests were the main reason we got all the goodies, it was also a good excuse to try out some Trader Joe’s temptations that I wouldn’t normally buy for us on a regular ol’ shopping trip. I’ll let you know how they all pan out!
In other news, before our grocery shopping adventure I made a quick trip to the gym where I got in a 30 minute walk on the treadmill, followed by 15 on the elliptical. All while watching the movie Hairspray. Gah, so cute!
I heated up Thursday night’s roasted dinner feast for lunch.
That’d be roasted organic butternut squash, extra-firm tofu,
Red wine & cheese infused sausage and brown rice!
Gosh I can’t tell you how good this smells and tastes!
Afterwards I couldn’t resist opening the Trader Joe’s Crispy Crunchy Chocolate Chip Cookies.
These babies are mini (my fave) and you can eat like 20 for 150 cals, or something ridiculous like that.
THEY ARE SO GOOD!!!! Definitely going to be a pantry-staple from now on. Buttery, salty, chocolaty and not annoyingly crispy. You know how I like my chocolate chip cookies…
Ok – off to do some last minute items before our friends arrive. Have a great Saturday!
If you could go to 1 store without a list or budget, where would it be?
Do you grocery shop with or without a list? How did your parents shop when you were growing up?
Ben told me that when he was young, anything went in the grocery store, which is how he prefers it now. I grew up with my Mom shopping with a list, and that’s how I prefer it!
