Missing My Powers of Persuasion

56

It seems my powers of persuasion are a bit rusty…

shutterisland

While trying to convince Ben to go see 127 Hours last night, he turned the tables and somehow convinced me to stay in and watch Shutter Island on Netflix!

I never saw it coming.

Even though I already knew what happened in the end, I didn’t know the whys/hows so it was really interesting. I will never turn down a Leo movie anyways. He had me at Montague!!! omgomgomg

This morning I was up bright and early tearing up the grocery store with coupons and gift cards. I got quite the haul for only $37! Since I saved so much money, I thought it was only appropriate that I treat myself to a short, no-foam skinny vanilla Starbucks latte.

DSC_0004

Oooo that tastes good…eek, but hot!!!!

Supplemented with a Kashi TLC Ripe Strawberry Soft Baked Cereal Bar.

DSC_0016

I don’t normally prefer to eat cereal bars – I’d just rather eat an apple – but Kashi sent them for me to try, and I wasn’t about to let them go to waste!

DSC_0018

They’re the same size as other bars of its type, look like a big Fig Newton,

DSC_0020

and I love them. I would totally buy these again. Soft, sweet – but not too sweet – and they satisfy with a homemade taste for 110 calories. Win.

Ben and I are heading to my parent’s house for Sunday lunch this afternoon – it’s been aaaages. Be back later with my grocery haul and this week’s dinner menu!

See you! :D

I love that you love Now and Then. I watched that movie so many times that I could literally recite the whole thing by heart. And I have no doubt that this obsession was fueled by my mad love for Devon Sawa!

One of my first *boyfriends* (guy who sat on a couch and watched me and my friends’ shenanigans, sat quietly, told me I was pretty and then biked home….we were 11) looked JUST like Devon Sawa. Man…he was sooo dreamy.

  4. Comment Callout

I loved Devon Sawa in Casper. :)
JTT, and Ryder Strong also were held in high regard for me. :)
Now, I really want to watch Boy Meets World!

I love those cereal bars. I like to eat them for breakfast (with yogurt or some string cheese) when I am running late in the morning and need a grab and go item.

When I was a teen, I kept it real and just crushed on the school boys I saw every day. :) Although Leo was pretty hot in Titanic.

I was overly obsessed with JTT!!! At one point had a picture of him in a frame in my room…. pretty sure he WAS my first love! “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” only made it worse…. :)

in eighth grade i was in love with ethan embry from the movie “cant hardly wait”…then until like tenth grade it was joey from nsync, then during senior year the guy i was dating and i were *both* obsessed(in different ways, kind of)with john mayer–when he was still really young and crazy talented.

I like to eat those Kashi bars as a yummy pre-workout snack because I usually go to the gym around 4 or 5 and need something to keep me full and energized until dinner. At 110 calories and with the Kashi “wholesomeness” I think it’s a pretty good snack.

Now and Then!!! To this day I could watch that movie and still love it. I would say that Leo was my teen heart throb crush growing up. Hanson was also on the list, though looking back I have no idea why. But now they’re much more attractive and I still have a crush on them. I don’t think that is going to go away. Same goes for Leo.

    Happy Sunday! :)

OH my goodness, I saw Shutter Island in theaters and it messed up my brain for the rest of the day! It is so twisted, I love how at the end you can’t tell whether he’s the crazy one, or whether the other people are trying to make him seem crazy.

Slash Leo dicaprio and justin timberlake were my teenage crushes! What gorgeous men:)

I bought one of those books in elementary school that had the addresses of your favorite actors/actresses. I wrote to Joey from Blossom…but never got anything back.

On another note…I’m keeping my fingers crossed I can get away with groceries as cheap as you did for this next week! Nice job!

Fred Savage (when he was on “The Wonder Years”) was my first celeb crush. Also looooved Thomas Ian Nicholas (“Rookie of the Year”). When I was a teenager, I crushed pretty hard on Lance Bass (from N Sync). Ha ha. If only I’d known then that he preferred men, maybe I wouldn’t have dreamed of having a chance with him (because that’s really the only thing standing in my way, right?).

And those bars look good. I rely way too much on Nutrigrain bars, maybe I’ll try those.

OMG! I was home sick from work the other day and watched Now and Then as my “comfort” movie! I used to love JTT and Devon Sawa. I also like David Lascher (from Hey Dude and Blossom) and Joe McIntyre. My walls were decked out in posters galore! Can’t wait to see your grocery haul.

    Heath Ledger!!!!!

Last night I was torn between going to see The King’s Speech or 127 Hours (I originally wanted to see The Black Swan, but my fiance insisted that it looks like it would freak me out and that I should wait till it’s on DVD!), and I decided, “I’ll go to The King’s Speech, and see what IGE thinks of 127 Hours tomorrow, so I can decide whether I want to see it next weekend!” Haha, that plan obviously failed, but I still may go to see it sometime before the Academy Awards… :)

The King’s Speech, however, was great!

BEST MOVIE EVER!!! Romeo and Juliette, I mean. That is the best scene of the movie too, when they are looking at each other through the fish tank and “Kissing You” is playing in the background. Oh, how I love that movie so much.

Have a fantastic dinner with your family. Can’t WAIT to see what mom comes up with. Especially dessert. ;)

    SOOO DEVON SAWA!!!!!!
He was all over my door. The inside of my whole bedroom door was plastered with him!

But…funny thing… I was in like 5th grade and I didn’t know how to pronounce his name, and I always try to make things more interesting and romantic anyway, SO in my head and in real life I pronounced it “deVON SWAAAAHHH” :D I really thought that’s what it was.

HAHAHAHA. Now I teach high school English and I have a 9th grader named Devon but I always call him deVON!!! Can’t help it! They all know the story of my past crush and think it’s hilarious. :)
