Packers! Love the King Cake plan from Kristen. I was there last week and brought one home as my Birthday cake for this week as I am from New Orleans and it was what I always had as my Birthday cake. Wish I was having/going to a Super Bowl Party so I could eat some great food.

I don’t do sports, if there are not 18 holes and little sticks involved – not my gig!

    May the best brawny win!

I am seriously disappointed in the fact that I have lived in the Midwest my WHOLE life and I have never even heard of Maid-Rite! I’m adding your recipe to my menu next week, just so I don’t feel like I am missing out on something Midwestern (even though I am skeptical)!

I’m with you on the “Go Steelers”!! Mostly because I cheer “anyone but The Pack”! Skol Vikings!! ;-)

Ladies! Get out of your comfort zone and make…Liver Dip! It’s even better than it sounds:

    1 8 oz braunschweiger
    1 8 oz cream cheese
    loads of minced garlic
    fresh chopped parsley
    juice of one lemon
    cracked black pepper

OK, let the stuff soften to room temperature. This is critical because if the braunschweiger is cold and stiff, the fat globules will smear and the dip will have the wrong consistency. Is it room temperature? OK, let’s begin. You take the braunschwieger and cream cheese and gently FOLD it together. Do not use a mixer, food processor, egg beater or floor machine. Fold it gently together using a large spatula and bowl with the muscles God gave you. Dump in the minced garlic, chopped parsley and black pepper. Squeeze the lemon through a seive to catch the seeds and blend that in gently, too. Go to Goodwill. Buy one of those copper-colored mold things that old ladies hang on their kitchen walls. Wash it. Spray the inside with Pam-type stuff. Carefully place the delicious liver dip in the mold and work out any air pockets. Refrigerate for a couple hours. Invert and dump onto a plate with the satisfying plop that only organ meats can make. Serve with Ritz crackers. Be prepared for 12-step intervention, some people will not be able to control themselves.

Serving tip: DO NOT tell children it’s actually liver. Watch them devour it. I’m proud to say this recipe contains nothing but wholesome, unadulterated, 100% pure American saturated fats. With every bite an old communist dies somewhere.

I made the chocolate cookies and peanut butter pie for our neighborhood Super Bowl party. For me it was all about the pie. It has to be one of the best tasting pies in the world. I’m a little sad that I gave most of the pie leftovers to my neighbors! My husband loved the cookies. I think he told me at least 5 different times during the game how much he loved them. (He wouldn’t try the pie because he doesn’t like peanut butter and chocolate together. There is definitely something wrong with him!)
