P.F. Chang’s Lettuce Wraps copycat recipe tastes just like the real thing – but is a whole lot healthier!

So I failed to tell you the entire culinary story of Ben’s and my Vegas Vacation

Our first night there, feeling brave after a rather large can of Sapporo, we each dove face first into a Pinks Hotdog, whose newly opened location was strategically placed right outside our hotel. A Classic Dog for him, and a Rueben Dog for her. I know.

Whatever. One bite of the snappy casing, sour ‘kraut and salty pastrami and it was lights out. When in Vegas!

The other meal I failed to mention took place late one night after returning home from sipping cocktails and shooting craps at the casinos. I had previously turned up my nose to the P.F. Chang’s located in the lobby of our hotel, preferring to dine at non-chain restaurants for all major-meals while on vacation. But as I looked at the clock, I came to realize that it certainly wasn’t a major-meal hour of the day morning, and the smell wafting from the restaurant’s open doors smelled too good to resist.

Bring on the chain restaurant – and the Lettuce Wraps – whee!

P.F.Chang’s Lettuce Wraps – I am telling you – salty, greasy, PERFECT. If you’ve ever had them, I bet you’ll agree. But sometimes they can be a little too greasy, know what I mean?

That’s why I decided to recreate.

P.F. Chang’s Lettuce Wraps

Print this recipe!

Serves 2-3

Ingredients:
1lb ground chicken breast
1/2 onion, minced
salt & pepper
2 garlic cloves, minced
1″ knob ginger, peeled & minced
2-1/2 Tablespoons soy sauce
1 Tablespoon + 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
1 Tablespoon sesame oil
1 Tablespoon peanut butter
1/2 Tablespoon water
1/2 Tablespoon honey
2 teaspoons chili garlic sauce (or more if you like it hotter)
dash of pepper
3 green onions, chopped
1/2-8oz can sliced water chestnuts, drained & chopped
1/4 cup peanuts, chopped
10-12 large outer lettuce leaves, rinsed and patted dry

Directions:

1. Heat a large, non-stick skillet on high. Add chicken, onion, salt & pepper, then cook until chicken is nearly done, stirring often to break up the meat. Add garlic and ginger then continue cooking until chicken is no longer pink.

2. Meanwhile, in a microwave safe bowl, combine soy sauce, rice vinegar, oil, peanut butter, water, honey, chili garlic sauce and pepper. Microwave for 20 seconds, then stir until smooth. Add into the skillet and stir to combine.

3 Add green onions and water chestnuts into the skillet then cook for 1-2 minutes until the onions are soft and the water chestnuts are heated through.

4. Sprinkle with chopped peanuts, and serve with cold lettuce leaves.

I die. I die for this dish! It is FANtastic, and so much lighter than PFC’s!

Salty, crunchy and crispy – fun too! Simply pile the chicken mixture onto a lettuce leaf,

and chomp. AWESOME. The fuller you stuff ‘em, the better, too. My first wrap was kind of weak sauce, so I really jammed the filling in with the others. Much better. You have to make these!

    My husband said these wraps were the best meal I have made in the last 6 months. We are budding foodies so that was a great compliment and of course I gave you all the credit. We used left over barbecued pork (from a charcoal grill, not pulled with sauce) and it added a smoky flavor. SOOO good!

    My husband and kids (age 5 and 11) take a cold lunch every day. We are always looking for new things to pack. We are trying as a family to eat healthy and more naturally. I made these up and ate them hot over the weekend and then used the leftovers for their cold lunches. They all loved it! I changed it for the lunches a little though. I put the lettuce on a spinach wrap and wrapped it all up just so it would be easier especially for the kids to eat at school. They said it was really good cold too. Thanks!

    Hello from fellow Midwest girl! This recipe looks great. I tried another copycat lettuce wrap recipe a few weeks ago after my first trip to Changs and it was just ok. (The lettuce wraps were the best part of the whole meal.) This has more ingredients and I’m looking forward to trying this one!
    And as for my favorite chain restaurant, it’s a tie between Olive Garden and Red Lobster :)

    This looks great, I’m going to try them next week. You say these are much lighter then PF Chang version, do you know how much lighter? PF Chang lettuce wraps are a whopping 630 Cals/ serving, so I’m wondering if you have an idea what these come in at?

      When I put these into Calorie Count they come in at 371 calories for three servings. If you split it in two servings it would be 556.

    First I’d like to say I LOVE your blog! It’s so refreshing to read a blog with a balance of healthy eating and indulgence!
    I just made these lettuce wraps for lunch and they were an absolute hit! I’ve never been much of a fan of PF Changs, but love their lettuce wraps! Now I’m happy to have a recipe that will certainly become a staple in my weekly rotation.

    Made these tonight and they were awesome but salty. Next time I won’t salt the meat at the start. I doubled the recipe and we gobbled them up. We are trying to eat healthier so I didn’t add the chopped peanuts but I think they would add the final touch. Give them a try. I know there are different versions of this same recipe, but this one is pretty darn close.

    I LOVED this recipe! I made it for my husband and I today, and it was DELICIOUS! Though, instead of fresh Ginger, I used Ground Ginger. I also used Extra Chunky Jif peanut butter instead of natural peanut butter. It gave the peanuty taste as well as the crunchy peanuts.

    These are amazing! I used tofu and my son who hates tofu ate 2 servings, then he woke up and ate it again for breakfast. I was secretly a little upset because I wanted to have it for my breakfast but he got to it first. LOL. Next time I’m making double…no tripple
