3 Things…
1.) Olde Savannah Sweet Tea Wine was awwwwful. Awful! It tasted like a cross between a flat wine cooler and, I don’t even know. Something I’ve never even tasted before. The opposite of delicious. Save your $4.99!
2.) Ben and I saw a matinee viewing of Water for Elephants today! Like many great books turned into movies, I thought it was just "ok". The second half was much better than the first, and I couldn’t help but miss all the wonderful parts of the book they had to leave out. Plus I thought Reese’s acting was just not on par with where it usually is.
This helped though. So, so much.
Let’s stare a little while longer, shall we?
3.) I don’t even know what I’m going to do with it, but I snatched this puppy up the minute I saw it today at Trader Joe’s. Are you kidding me? Mango Butter?! I might just eat it with a spoon!
Well we’ve got an unbelievably gorgeous day on our hands, so I think Ben and I are going to stroll up to the neighborhood bar for a little nightcap. Last week a reader told me about a concoction her friend likes – Iced Tea and Orange Stoli. It’s called an ice pick. I say, I pick. I pick it now!
Happy Saturday!

I’ve seen that mango butter at TJ’s and I’ve been wanting to try it. What does it taste like? I imagine it as a thicker version of mango flavored applesauce. I’ve been hesitant about buying it, but imagine that it would be tasty swirled in some yogurt.
WOw, thanks for the review on that Sweet tea wine! Saw it at World Market last week and contemplated it for a few min…and mango butter? OMG I am tempted to make the hr drive tmrw to tj’s…
Robert Pattinson sure is nice to look at! Mmmm.
Mmmm to the mango butter too. That does sound SO good!
i’m pretty sure that if there was a TJ’s near me, i would be totally broke. i think they’re building one in charleston, but that’s an hour and a half away, so i’m fairly safe until i visit my mom! lol
i’m reading water for elephants now and had heard it was a good movie. i’m pretty sure that person had not read the book, so…hmm. i guess it would be worth it just to lust after that hottie.
JUST saw that mango butter at TJs this afternoon and didn’t grab it… let us know how it is!! Amazing, I’m sure
Edward looks so much better when he isn’t pale. The mango butter sounds amazing, anxious to try it as I’m currently on a ham and greyure with mango preserves pannini kick. It’s delicious!!
I totally agree with you on the sweet tea wine – bad stuff!
I was surprised how many of the previews before Water for Elephants were for other books I had read – Something Borrowed and The Help (OK so maybe just 2). I didn’t know they had made The Help into a movie, but it would be nearly impossible to make the movie better than the book!
Hope you enjoyed your drinks!
Oh my, Rob was SO nice to look at in that movie! Normally I like Reese, but I just didn’t buy her and Rob’s relationship…I know she isn’t that much older than him, but she seems like she is for some reason…I would’ve liked someone else as Marlena. I LOVED Christoph Waltz, though…he is SO going to get pigeon holed as insane bad guys!
Totally agree with you about Water for Elephants! I seriously LOVED the book, but the movie disappointed me a bit! You get so much more attached to the characters in the book.
You’ll have to post a little review of that Mango Butter after you try it…It looks DELICIOUS! I might have to pick some up at TJ’s this weekend
I saw the movie yesterday and felt the same way. There is just so much beautiful detail in the book that is left out of the movie. AND I thought Reese and Robert and zero connection. I really wanted to be able to feel the love tension that is described in writing!
i was at trader joe’s last weekend and they were giving out samples of their NY style cheesecake topped with the mango butter….omg it was DELICIOUS! seemed like it would be great in yogurt or even on ice cream! and it was of course awesome on the cheesecake
it was smoother to me than a normal fruit butter (so more like a sauce than a butter spread)…then again, i only had a little taste. but i am totally going back to buy it! sadly it wasn’t in the budget this week
enjoy!
I picked up the mango butter this past week, and I’ve been using it swirled in my greek yogurt non stop! And eating it from the spoon, but that’s a different story.
My husband wanted to get that mango butter a few weeks ago, and now it’s just sitting in our fridge because I have NO idea what to do with it!
Great idea for a mixed drink! I’ll have to try that. I can never think of mixed drink options since I don’t drink pop and rarely drink juice. I love iced tea though!
Iced tea with any vodka is called an Ice Pick. And it is one of my favorite summer drinks! I usually go the sweet tea route though, because I like to pretend I’m suthurn (said in a southern accent). Vodka/sweet teas, vodka/lemonade, and at a suburban bar called Red Stone their signature cocktail, the Stoli Doli. Yum. They steep fresh pineapple in Stoli vodka for 7 days, strain it, and shake it with ice. It is delicious and not nearly as strong as it sounds. It’s light, fruity, and refreshing.
I burned through “Water for Elephants,” but thought the ending was so cheesy. Plus, I feel Reese Witherspoon was miscast as Marlena. So while the film looks beautifully shot, I think this is going to be a Saturday night HBO film for me.
I looove ice picks they are the quinnessential baltimore summer drink! All the different flavors of vodka are good..I especially like peach
also you have to do it with unsweetened ice tea..like the real brewed stuff but a splends or a sugar tastes nice in there…enjoy!
Thank you for the incredible, mouth-watering, gorgeous photos of Mr. Pattinson. Oh my is he gorgeous! You just saved my boredom watching UFC fights with my husband!
Yes – definitely share with us what you do with the mango butter. I want but like everyone else, I don’t know what to do with it!
Also – thanks for the drink suggestion. That just may be what I make for my Sunday afternoon cocktail. Yum!
I wonder if I should still read the book before going to Water for Elephants, if I should just go see it, or if I should put both off for now and figure it out later. This is problem with the concept of the book-to-movie. Maybe I’ll just pretend it isn’t a book and go so I can stare at that face. You know, the gorgeous one above in the post. He’s lovely when he’s not a vampire.
Happy Sunday!
If you want to see the movie – see it first, then read the book. Either way, I think you should read the book – it’s amazing!
I read Water for Elephants when it first came out years ago and was honestly not too happy when they decided to make it a movie. I enjoyed the book so much and thought they were going to just “Hollywood/butcher” the story, so I don’t even know if I’m going to go see the movie yet. Though, a little eye candy wouldn’t hurt
I am hesitant about seeing WFE. I don’t think the movie wil ever measure up to the book.
But mango butter sounds awesome (I love pumpkin butter in oatmeal!)
I am also hoping you share some of your ideas for the mango butter. I actually just picked some up today on my stock-up trip to TJs (closest one is 3 hrs away, ugh!) and I can’t wait to use it. I will definitely be trying it in yogurt! Yum!
Just picked up a jar of mango butter on Tuesday. It is SO delish! I maybe ate some right out of the jar with a spoon. I think tomorrow I am going to use some in my morning smoothie. enjoy!
Okay, so I’ll be honest. I bought that mango butter too and wound up hating it! I love mangoes, so maybe it’s just me, but I didn’t care for it too much. I really hope you enjoy it and find an awesome way to use it!
Love your wine rack. Been eyeing a similar one at Ikea.
I so want to see Water For Elephants, though your review is on par with what I’ve been hearing. Love TJ’s fruit butters, I just used one to make some Granola. So good and was able to cut the butter and oil. Yipee!
I’m dying to see that movie!!! I’m interested in what they edited out.. esp to make it PG-13!
