PIZZA
Remember when pizza parties were the absolute ish in elementary school? Like, you and your classmates went completely bananas when you earned one for reading 1,000,000 books, or something?
Nowadays, isn’t it funny that you feel the same way when your boss buys pizza for the whole team as a reward for a job well done? Like, you would literally do anything for that evil man if he just keeps buying you pizza?
Pizza just seems to make every situation infinitely better no matter your age, and I’ve got good news – make it at home just got a whooooole lot easier.
Say it with me…PITA PIZZAS!
Making a personal pizza on pita bread takes legit, 10 minutes from start to finish. I know. Tonight I topped a Trader Joe’s Whole Wheat Pita round with homemade tomato sauce (just leftover tomato sauce seasoned with garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, dried oregano and fresh basil,)
artichoke hearts, (these were frozen-then-thawed hearts from Trader Joe’s – AHmazing. I will never buy canned again!)
shredded colby jack cheese,
black olives,
sundried tomatoes and fresh basil.
A quick trip to a 425 degree oven for 8 minutes rendered my personal pita pizza hot, cheesy and drool inducing. GULP!
The absolute perfect bite!
To which I let out an audible "MMMMM…" after taking. Then got embarrassed for myself because I was all alone in the house.
This miiiiight be the most awesome thing I’ve made in weeks, which proooobably means I should go make another…
Peace, love and pizza, people!

"The most awesome thing that happened to me today was _________."
The most awesome thing that happened to me today was I got to try a new (to me) self-serve-and-top fro yo place in town – Yo2Go! Can you say twisted Bavarian Cheesecake & Mango fro yo with nearly all the kiddie cereal on the planet, PLUS chocolate chip cookie dough pieces on top?! OH YES I DID!

We make homemade pizza a lot, and we always use artichoke hearts and black olives. Such a delicious combo!
I LOVE self serve froyo, but we don’t have one locally.
The most awesome thing was having my friend over for dinner, and she gave me some free razors, toothpaste, and coffee creamer she scored with coupons!
ewww i hate licking the lid of the yogurt!! i only do it because i don’t want to waste it!
We made pizzas tonight too! Ours were Grilled Naan pizzas but equally delicious!
Love love love homemade pizza!
I wish we had self serve fro yo here! I would be such a happy camper:)
My most awesome thing was my 10 yr old son calling me at work just to say he loves me!! Awwwww!
This is such a coincidence. I JUST made pita pizzas for dinner last night! AND put artichokes on my pizza too – whoa! We cooked ours on the grill though – highly recommended!!
I had pizza tonight too, of the Digiornio frozen variety though. Yours looks awesome- way to multi-use the pitas : ) The most awesome thing that happened to me today was going on a 3 mile run this evening in a light, cooling rain with a rainbow in the distance!
Oh my goodness you MUST try an individual pizza made with Naan bread! It will literally blow your mind. I also love artichokes on pizza. Yum yumz.
Haha!! That is sooo funny, my boss just bought us pizza today!!! AND I MADE a PITA PIZZA last night!!! Tooo weird girl!!! lol
I forgot about calling “bag fries”! great to hear that the DSM area now has good fro-yo. Gives me another reason to be excited to move back to IA from the south.
Pizza is in the air! I had to make some this week too! Your pita pizza looks great!
I love using flat breads for homemade pizza – such an easy, delicious dinner! Now if only I could get one of those with a stack of oreos, and a round of mini golf
Yum to both the pizza and fro yo! Where’s the new yogurt place? I haven’t heard of it yet.
I like to make pizza with English muffins and lavash.
It’s in Urbandale in the little strip of shops across the street from Quik Trip on 100th & Douglas. Couple doors down from Tsing Tsao (droooool)
What?!?! DM has a self-serve Fro-yo place! How did I miss this? And thank you soo much for filling me in!
I am definitely going to have to do some searching and go on a Fro-yo trip tomorrow!
I had no clue there was a new yogurt place here…so closely located right by my work
A visit must be made soon!
I accomplished all things on the to-do list including a 5am run and finishing up lab work (hello 4hr project, I finally kicked your butt) for class! Yeppee!! But the most awesome thing that happened today… I picked a ton of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, basil, and mint from the garden! Nothing is better than picking it yourself
Agreed! Your choice of toppings is great too, my kind of pizza!
Pita pizzas are super tasty. So are english muffin pizzas!
The fro yo looks yum yum.
The best thing that happened to me today: Having dinner with friends and getting to take home a big basket of fresh produce from their garden!!!!

Hehehe, licking yogurt lids, awesome! I love that that’s a universal
The pizza looks delish!
The most awesome thing that happened to me today was that after a couple years of being a raw vegan, I finally bought my first 40lb case of bananas, and felt like a champion.
We made your chicken pesto pizza tonight! It’s like pizza is exerting mind control or something! LOL I LOVE the chick/pesto pizza. It is super delicious!!!!!!!!!!!!
So glad you enjoyed it!
The fro-yo place is in Urbandale called Yo2go and it’s at 3816 100st in the Jesse Plaza, just north of Douglas. Yummy stuff. : )
Most awesome thing today?
I watch the Harry Potter premiere
Your blog never fails to make me smile ~ especially after a rough day. I totally love it, and am so glad I found it. Thanks for posting great stuff all the time, and usually making me really hungry!
You’re right. Running hugs, especially from a baby or toddler, never get old.
The most awesome thing that happened to me today was that I found Clean Start by Terry Walters (which I’ve been wanting for awhile) for only $12!
Go get a puppy, like, for reals!
Nothing screams true accomplishment like a pizza party. Seriously. Oh and pita pizzas are an amazing idea… I always have all of those types of ingredients yet “never have anything to cook.”
the most awsome thing that happened to me today was learning that my nephew had just landed on US soil……coming home from his tour of duty in Afghanistan! safe and sound in the good ole US of A!!!! So Very Awsome!
That’s great, Machelle – your family must be so happy & proud.
Soooo very exciting for you! That’s great!
I love homemade pizza’s! I made one on a FlatOut wrap the other day and it was amazing!
We just got our first soft serve yogurt place in town too! It’s amazing!
Fruity pebbles on fro yo is hands down the best! Your pita pizza’s look amazing. I adore black olives on pizza and love artichoke hearts, yet never thought to put the two together!! Totally doing that from now on!! Thanks for the idea
Pizza is truly the greatest!! You’re so right. I think my boss should offer up pizza parties as motivation…. I’m telling you, people will work hard for pizza!
The most awesome thing that happened to me today was I pushed myself in spin this morning and burned 932 calories!!!
That pizza looks heavenly! No tomato anything for me though, but I bet it would be tasty with pesto too!
Haha – I love this post. Especially licking yogurt lids (and pudding lids!)
We love making homemade pizza – thanks for the recipe for your pizza sauce – need to try it.
The most awesome thing that happened to me today was making massive progress on my to-do list. (I know thats kind of boring but these things have been nagging at me for weeks. Huge relief.)
YUM. I just posted a Greek flatbread pizza with olive tapenade and artichokes, among other things. Great mind think alike! http://t.co/OtJqmSi

Yum pita pizza! I’ve also made it before on a WW tortilla…super yum. I think I need convince my hubby it’s a fro yo kind of night now!
There is also Lemon Tree in Ankeny that is a self serve fro yo place. It is a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!!!!!! I live on the west end and I’ll drive all the way there for it. Similiar set up, pay by the ounce, around 10 flavors to choose from, and add whatever toppings you want. I will have to check out Yo2Go for sure!
I am having those TJ’s artichoke hearts for dinner tonight! Super excited to try them!
I have not had anything awesome happen, yet…but the day is still young.
Cute puppies picture!!!!! Great post- YUM
The most awesome thing that happened to me so far today was reading about your pita pizzas and the thought that I’m eating that tonight!! They look soooo appetizing:)
I love FroYo! Did you go to Lemon Tree – or is there another location I don’t know about?!
My husband told me that Handel’s Ice Cream had Elvis again. Finally! I’ve waited 2 years for them to feature my favorite ice cream again…..banana ice cream with ripples of peanut butter…heaven! And my husband is even more amazing because he went out and bought me a quart!!!! Awesome!
Most awesome thing that happened to me yesterday…went for a walk with my sister (Emily) and her two boys (Jonathan 8, Timmy 2). Emily and I kept calling out “CAR!” when a car was coming (a la Wayne’s World when they were playing hockey in the middle of the street and kept moving their equipment when a car would come) to alert Jonathan who was on his bike…we’re walking through the parking lot, almost home and all of a sudden, out of the blue, the two year old yells “CAR!” lol <3
Hello hello!
!
I found your blog yesterday. The pictures are so nice! and the food….mmm looks so good. Nice post!
