Somebody had a little too much fun drinking wine and crafting (who knew boxwood is so hard to find?!) yesterday, so instead of boring you with the details of laying on the couch watching all 1,000 episodes of No Reservations cached on my DVR today, I thought I’d bring you the next item in the Month of Holiday Giveaways!

The Fitbit Ultra!

I first learned about the Fitbit Ultra when some bloggers and I were talking about healthy weight loss tools at the Dole Healthy Bloggers Summit last month.
The Fitbit is a tiny device, about the height of a matchbook, that you clip onto your pants or bra which tracks steps taken, floors climbed, distance traveled and calories burned all day.
Not only does it track all these stats for you, but it also wirelessly syncs to your computer and uploads the data to an account at Fitbit.com, where you can visually track your progress.
As someone who works in an office in front of a computer all day, I can’t tell you how amazing it is to see how active, or not active, you are. It provides some serious motivation to get on your feet when you see how long you’ve been sitting on your butt!
Fitbit is giving away one Fitbit Ultra. Enter to win by Tuesday, December 13th at 5pm, by telling me how you stay active during the day.
Good luck everyone!

I enjoy workouts at 5:00 am (almost) every day – strange, I know, but I love getting to work and feeling like I have already accomplished something!
i use Wii Fit to climb steps (with the step raised about 12 inches)
Although I spent a lot of time at my desk, my job also requires me to stand on my feet for up to two hours at a time, facilitating meetings. This is a great way to be active in between long stints at my desk. I would love to compare days and find out which ones I am most active on!
I stay active by walking campus instead of taking buses or shuttles! #baller
I’m a nurse who sees my patients, and also does a lot of managing work while sitting behind a desk. I love to walk everywhere during the workday on my campus, and occasionally I will get up from my desk and add in some jumping jacks or do something just to get the blood flowing. Every little bit can help from sitting all day!
I workout first thing in the morning to get me going for the day. I sit in front of a computer most of the day at work, so I make several trips to the copier (not always needed) so I can get up and moving! I also take the long way around the building if I need to talk with someone or get something.
I stay active during the day by taking walks outside during my breaks at work.
GYm classes, bootcamp, and stirs at work!
I like to do zumba in my living room when i get home from work
I like using my treadmill or doing exercise DVDs. When I get on the phone with my daughter, I walk around the house instead of sitting still. I’d love a fitbit to help me to be aware of how much or how little I’m moving.
(I love watching No Reservations while I’m on the treadmill!)
I have a job where I stand/walk for 8 hours a day. It definitely adds up in terms of steps!
I have a desk job so I try and make sure I get up and walk around at least once an hour. I also try to exercise every day as soon as I get home from work.
Laundry! And chasing my three boys.
I always take the stairs up and down to my 5th floor office and I have a long walking commute to and from the Metro. I wish I did more, though!
The fitbit looks amazing!
Early morning cardio – running, spin, elliptical with some Pilates and yoga thrown in there too! I want a FitBit!!!
I walk a ton. I used to own a fit bit and it was soooo motivating to track my steps. I was extremely mad at myself when I accidentally put it in the washing machine. Hopefully Santa will bring me a new one.
I stay active during the day by trying not to sit while I am teaching and constantly be moving around my classroom.
just getting up and down as much as possible!
I’m a scientist, so I spend most days alternating between sitting at my desk analyzing data and running like a madwoman into lab to set up experiments. I’d love to see what my activity level measures as calorically!
i’m a law student, so its really hard to find time to be active. i bike to campus, so thats a bit of exercise, and i always make sure to take the stairs, and whenever possible i go for walks after class. i try to do a jillian michaels 20 minute workout most days
I typically walk to work and school (only a short walk away) but try to talk the long way around campus or take the stairs instead of the elevator.
Cooking and being in the kitchen all day can add up to a surprising amount of calories burned! I’d love to track the exact amount with one of these
My current activity to chasing my 2.5 year old around all day! I think that’s a pretty good work out!
I walk outside during the nice weather months. I walk inside during the winter – I’d love a pedometer that actually works. A FitBit sounds right up my alley!!
I like to walk the stairs in my office!
I have a stand-up desk, which helps a ton (and I love). I also take the stairs whenever I can and walk 1/2 a mile to-from the bus. Every bit helps.
i’m a teacher so i’m on my feet and up and down stairs all day long – middle schoolers keep me on the move. i’m also a new yorker, so walking is my primary mode of transportation. aside from that, though, running is my activity of choice!
Bootcamp classes, going INSIDE businesses (gas station, bank, etc.) instead of using the drive-through
I try and walk over to talk with coworkers instead of relying on e-mail and instant message. Sitting all day can be really boring!
I work in an office too so I get in a workout before work whenever I can!
I work at a university, so if I get time, I take a walk around campus on my lunch break!
I’ve been eying the Fitbit for a while; it looks so cool! I stay active mostly because I have a dog, but during the day at work, yikes. Lunchtime walks are good, but it’s getting mighty cold out!
This is great! I walk around my school’s campus, and also run a few times per week with circuit training thrown in there!
i always take the stairs rather than the elevator.
I work at HY-VEE. Walking and lifting all day helps me stay fit!
I’m a teacher so I end up walking around the school/classroom quite a bit every day!
I workout first thing in the morning to get me going for the day
I try to get up from the computer every half hour and do something active, whether walking around, doing jumping jacks or pushups, etc.
I am a teacher and stay active at work by –no joke–doing tricep dips and push ups on the edge of my desk during my prep period!!
This time of year it’s the treadmill at 5 am…yuck!
I try to take the stairs at work and I walk the three blocks to my office instead of taking the shuttle.
I always take the stairs at work.
I am walking on campus a lot… and I do crossfit as my workout!
I try to stay active at work by making unnecessary trips up and down the stairs or walking to the break room and back. Don’t tell my boss!
I stay active by parking at the end of the parking lot rather than the spots closest to the door. This is much harder for me in the winter months. Sometimes, I end up doing a mini jog to the door to escape the cold!
I stay active by taking walks during my 10 minute breaks at work.
I am a stay at home mom to a 1 year old, so I pretty much stay active by chasing her around and taking her for our daily walks/jogs.
I do my computer work standing up and take 15 minute walks with my co-worker twice a day!
Wii fit, treadmill, chase my preschoolers around, and I try to park in the back of the lot when shopping/running errands.
I try to walk as many places as possible and skip the elevator in favor of the stairs! I still could do a lot more though
