Month of Holiday Giveaways: Fitbit Ultra

***This giveaway is now closed. Thank you for entering!***

Somebody had a little too much fun drinking wine and crafting (who knew boxwood is so hard to find?!) yesterday, so instead of boring you with the details of laying on the couch watching all 1,000 episodes of No Reservations cached on my DVR today, I thought I’d bring you the next item in the Month of Holiday Giveaways!

The Fitbit Ultra!

I first learned about the Fitbit Ultra when some bloggers and I were talking about healthy weight loss tools at the Dole Healthy Bloggers Summit last month.

FitBit

The Fitbit is a tiny device, about the height of a matchbook, that you clip onto your pants or bra which tracks steps taken, floors climbed, distance traveled and calories burned all day.

fitbitpocket fitbit_4 fitbit_3

Not only does it track all these stats for you, but it also wirelessly syncs to your computer and uploads the data to an account at Fitbit.com, where you can visually track your progress.

FitBit_1

As someone who works in an office in front of a computer all day, I can’t tell you how amazing it is to see how active, or not active, you are. It provides some serious motivation to get on your feet when you see how long you’ve been sitting on your butt!

FitBit_1a

Fitbit is giving away one Fitbit Ultra. Enter to win by Tuesday, December 13th at 5pm, by telling me how you stay active during the day.

Good luck everyone! :D

I walk for about two hours I don’t know how much that is. I also do strength workouts modified push ups, planks, jumping Jacks, crunches etc. About once a week I take a different class ex: zumba, kickboxing etc.

I do try to get up every hour or so, and at least walk around the office. Sitting on your bum everyday for work sucks!

I am a runner so therefore, I try to get in a run five days a week and also do some strength training twice a week! I need to incorporate some yoga in there! Yoga is rewarding for your mind, body, and soul!

I have currently been on a weight loss plan where I have lost 16 lbs thus far. I have been looking for a good pedometer to get so that I can track my steps per day since I too work at a desk in front of a computer all day. Since starting my new life style I have vowed not to take elevators and to only use stairs and I really think that it is helping!

Some days I run and some days I feel like I’m being chased (by work, kids & everyday life.) So I do what I can with the time I have.

I drink a lot of water at work so I’m forced to get up and go to the restroom a lot. I kill 2 birds with one stone this way. I also use the restroom on another floor so I get some additional steps in!

I do the same thing! Then I drive straight to the gym after work, since the route I take to the gym lets me miss all the rush hour traffic, whereas going straight home means I get to sit in traffic for 45 minutes. Nothing like traffic to work as an exercise incentive!

walking is a big part of my daily commute – from home to the train, from the train to the office, and vise versa on the way home!

I also work in an office where a lot of sitting is involved! There are only two floors in our building, but I take the stairs up to the 2nd floor for washrooms breaks. Hey, it’s something!

I am an educational assistant, so I have to chase around our students sometimes if they walk out of class. I also walk from our part of the campus to the main campus, which is 1/4 mile each way. I walk that at least 4 times a day. When I get home, I chase after my 2 year old, when she goes to bed I do Zumba and or play Kinect Adventures.

I try to get up every hour from my desk and walk around my office, then I drink an 10oz cup of water. So by the end of the day Ive drank tons of water and I’ve been keeping my legs fresh – it’s SUCH a challenge when you work at a desk all day!

I try to get out of my chair every 30 minutes to take a short walk, even if it’s just to get tea. It lets me eyes rest and makes me more productive during the day.

OMG – I have wanted one of these FOREVER! And yet again it’s something that is on the wishlist. Hmmm, how I stay active during the day…well I have an early morning date with Farrell’s and throughout the day I make sure I walk everywhere instead of just calling or emailing people, and after work I chase a four year old and eighteen month old. UGH…just saying all that makes me tired. :-)

Oh man, I could definitely use this to motivate me to be more active! I’m a college kid, so right now most of my activity comes from walking to class. I squeeze in a trip to the gym whenever I can, but lately not so much. :[

I always choose basic alternatives such as taking the stairs, walking everywhere downtown at school, biking to school (when it’s warm), and doing things around the house. I try to go to the gym when I can!

I haaaave hypothyroidism and pcos, which means it’s reaaallly important for me to stay really active to even slightly stay on top of a healthy weight. I try to wake up every morning and get on the treadmill for 25minutes, then I go through my shower and getting ready routine. Sometimes I like going to the gym in the early morning to swim for an hour before work, sometimes I like going after work and sometimes I do both, though I’m more of a morning person. It’s a lot of work for very little results. I take the stairs whenever I can, I park further away from wherever I need to go (when I’m by myself, that is), even if it’s at the end of the parking lot. Those little things add up!

    Hi Kristin,

I stay active by trying new workouts at home. My two faves are Physique 57 & P90X. I’ve signed up for the January session of Kosama and I’m excited to try that out.

Your blog is a huge motivation for working out. If I see something yummy I want to make (like the no-bake cookie dough), I must workout first.

Thanks for sharing the info about FitBit!

I attend a workout class every morning at 5am. However, once I get to work I have a hard time because I’m on my computer all day. I take breaks to take a walk around our floor in the office – or I just go up and down the stairs a time or two. I also have been incorporating a lot more water intake into my daily diet – which requires me to walk to the restroom quite often.
