Brand New Recipes Section: Search, Print, Email & Share!

31

Howdy, people. TGIAF! (Thank goodness it’s almost Friday!)

Wait, it’s only Wednesday, isn’t it? Ugh! I’ve been having day later syndrome this entire week! This always seems to happen when holidays are on the horizon. Hollar if you hear me!

crickets

Anyways, as I mentioned a few weeks ago, I’ve been working on re-organizing the Recipes section of the blog to make recipes, how-tos and more, easy to search, print, email and share. Well…

It’s finally ready!

Check it out!

Features include:

  • Scrolling slideshow of hand-picked, seasonal/topical recipes. Right now I’m featuring warm, winter soup & stew recipes. Mmm!
  • The last 4 recent recipes that I’ve posted.

Recipage1

  • A search function for just recipes.
  • Ability to browse recipes by cooking method (saute, simmer, grill, etc.) course (entree, dessert, appetizer, etc.) or key ingredient (chicken, apples, chocolate, etc.)

Recipage2

  • Ability to browse recipes alphabetically.

Recipage3

Once you’ve found the recipe you’re looking for, you can choose to go back to the post it originally came from, print, email or text the recipe to yourself, friends, family, etc., and/or Pin, Tweet or Like the recipe on Pinterest, Twitter or Facebook!

Recipage4

I’m still going through some posts from 2009, but for the most part all of the complete recipes I’ve ever posted here on IGE are now available in this format. My next task is to go back to the individual posts and put a link to it’s new recipe page. Thinking I’ll save some fun for after the holidays. ;)

FYI: The FREE service I used to do this is called Recipage. I highly recommend the company for their quick responses to my questions, and overall great product. Food bloggers: check them out!

Happy (easier) recipe searching! :D

Month of Holiday Giveaways

Before I even get the chance to forget, the winner of the SodaStream Soda Maker Startup Kit (say that 5 times fast!) is…

Shannon: Ginger Ale!! What fun!! My hubby buys bubbly water like it’s going outta style. This would be awesome! :)

Whee! Email your full name, address and ph # to IowaGirlEats@gmail.com, Shannon!

Have a great night everyone!

Are you taking/get any time off for the holidays?

Awesome!! Every time I make your recipes I have to have my lap top in the kitchen to look off of. This will be nice to quickly print them! Also, saw you and your mom last weekend in Costco- I should have said hi! :)

  2. Great resource for setting up a good recipe page, thanks for sharing!

  3. Lauren 12.21.2011

Love the new recipe addition! Did you create this yourself or did you have someone do it for you? Is this a widget?

    • Iowa Girl Eats 12.22.2011

Yep I did it myself! Basically you copy/paste your recipes into a form, and it feeds into the page you see here. SO easy – you’d love it!

  4. I recently got the Recipage as well, and damn. It took me a LONG time to get most of them logged in!

Have you considered putting out an Iowa Girl Eats Cookbook? I would buy it! And then extras to give as gifts. For Christmas this year I hand wrote a bunch of my favorite recipes, most of them yours, to give to a few friends – love IGE!

    • Iowa Girl Eats 12.22.2011

You are too sweet! Well, having all my recipes in one place will certainly help if I ever get enough time to get something in the works! :)

  18. kellyo 12.21.2011

So happy to see this! One question…I have tried the text feature several times with no luck. Any thoughts?

    • Iowa Girl Eats 12.22.2011

Hmmm – what is your carrier? Also, try it with no dashes in the phone number and let me know if that works! Also, do you have a smart phone?

  19. Trisha 12.22.2011

I have been off a day all week too because I have tomorrow off. I’ll be headed to Mall of America to get my last gifts and to people watch! I’m surprised I haven’t been stressing out about not having my shopping done, but this year I’m just going with the flow. Have a Merry Christmas!
