The Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany was built in the late 19th century by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a personal retreat from the public. After his death in 1886, it was opened to the public and over 1.3 million people now tour the castle every year. What a view! Source: Ali Erturk

Aaaah this brings back such great memories!! Neuschwanstein itself is a total letdown, but the view from the castle, the hike to the castle, and the PRECIOUS little village at the bottom of the mountain make it totally worth it. And this picture? Whoa, gorgeous!
Neuschwanstein Castle is amazing in person! Definitely was my favorite part of Bavaria. The inside is just a amazing as the outside. Good choice!
Love Neuschwanstein Castle! I visited Bavaria a long time ago but I still remember hiking up the long hill to get to the castle & how breathtaking the views were. I would definitely go back again to visit!
Instead of hiking up the entire hill, take the horse drawn carriage ride! When my parents and I visited my ‘Germany’ sister a couple years ago, that’s what we did. Too bad for us, many of the paths were closed since there was a fresh layer of snow.
mmm, i was there about 5 years ago. it was incredible! it was fun to visit in the summer where the cold castle was a welcome relief to the hot weather outdoors, but i can’t imagine going in the winter. beautiful photo too!
This is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever been….the castle is truly breathtaking! I absolutely love the walk up the castle…so pretty!!!
Love this place! I visited in 2009 and hiked the 40 minutes to the top. Like everyone else is saying, the view all around it is unbeatable.
WOW!
Looks beautiful. Definitely wanna go here
Whoa! A lot of people have been to this castle and so was I!! Back in 2010 I visited Germany and Bavaria and this castle was an amazing find on our tour. I had a great time and highly recommend seeing Bavaria–so beautiful!
We were there 2 years ago and it was AMAZING! We loved visiting all of the castles and really just loved Germany in general…hope to go back one day
i love about 3 hours from there- it’s an amazingly beautiful part of Germany. come visit anytime!
Did you know that Cinderella’s castle at Disneyland (and Disneyworld too I assume) was largely based on this castle? Literally a fairy tale come true!
[...] Soaring castles, and ancient gladiator arenas are definitely some of my favorite places to travel to, but there is so much to be said about nature. Perfect, beautiful, nature, like the Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia, founded in 1949, which is world famous for its series of lakes that fall in cascades. I could sit and look at a peaceful view like this all day long. Source: Andreas Resch [...]
