Ben and I are no art critics, but we know what we like, and have thusly decorated our home together in perfect harmony over the past four years, with photographs and prints that remind us of special times, events, people, and places we’ve been.
Ok, that’s a lie. If Ben had his way the walls would be filled with Space Monkey prints, so it’s basically up to me to decorate the place – save for the basement/man cave where monkeys roam free.
Anyways! Let me give you a little tour of what we’ve got goin’ on around here!
The geisha photographs by my favorite photographer Lisa Kristine hanging in the front entryway reminds me of my epic times in Japan.
While the hallway contains a print of a lonely kite flyer in an exaggerated Midwest setting that reminds me of home, and a photograph of a boat taken by a friend of mine in Thailand which encourages me keep traveling far.
Another one of my favorites is this Victorian-style postcard I picked up at the Laura Plantation and placed in an ornate frame. Not only was it inexpensive, but it also sparks the memory of Ben’s and my unforgettable trip to New Orleans a couple years ago, every time I pass by.
Things really start to get fun around the kitchen though! I spend so much time in here that I went a little crazy and filled it with funky pieces that I just love, including this cool spice plaque Ben got me for my birthday a few years ago from Roux Royale.
A beautiful, hand painted plate we picked out in Praiano’s famous pottery shop reminds me of our trip of a lifetime to Italy, while a giant spoon and fork hanging on the back wall serves as an awesome conversation piece.
Always looking to add a new, fun, and fresh element to the space, I was pumped when Jayna at Bellabyte – a graphic design artist whom I featured on Friday Favorites a few months back – offered to send me the modern kitchen tools print I had featured, AND extended the offer to one IGE reader!
I chose this bright and funky kitchen tools print, but Jayna is offering to give away any print in her shop, in any size, and any color. She has designs for every room in the house from the kitchen to the kids’s room, and even vintage-style art prints!
Enter to win one print from Bellabyte by tomorrow, Wednesday, July 18 at 4pm, by leaving a comment on this post telling me what color your kitchen is. I need some inspiration to paint the truly heinous orange left by the previous owners that I’ve been complaining about for, cough, 4 years, cough.
Good luck!

I too am looking for a new kitchen color, but right now it is brown. We just have too much brown! I’m thinking turquoise!!!
It took forever to find a yellow that I liked for my kitchen – creamy and not too “yaller”. I painted it Benjamin Moore’s Philadelphia Cream.
We JUST redid mine to a beautiful shade of brown.. sounds weird but with all of the windows in there it works!
My kitchen them is the standard red and white, though I have been looking for ways to brighten up the space. A lovely print from Bellabyte would be a GREAT way to add some warmth to my space.
My kitchen is a light, but sunny yellow! Perfect for the room, because it doesn’t get enough of natural light.
My walls are Almond, which complements the dark woodwork.
I just got married so our new kitchen is teal and lime and our plates are graphic black and white. I love it!
Awesome giveaway! My kitchen is white…and it will stay white as it is a rental. Le sigh.
I live in an apartment, so my kitchen is a very boring white. I can paint it, I just haven’t gotten around to it yet so I’m always looking for new artwork to spice up the walls!
I love the giant fork and spoon! That is a wonderful conversation starter. Great pieces of art.
Mine is gray…still figuring out what accent colors to use
Sara mine was gray too with white trim. I accented with red, but considered changing it up & accenting with orange!
My kitchen is mostly black and white. So I think a bright color print would really add a pop!
I rent, so my kitchen is plain old white walls. But we have lots of coffee-themed decor, so I think it has a warmer feel with the deep reds and yellows and browns. Your kitchen is cute! I just pinned the spice plaque
The kitchen in my new apartment is white, but the landlord is letting us paint it so I think I’ll go with grey!
My kitchen is tealish green (or is it a greenish teal?)
We rent so our kitchen is boring white! Always looking for ways to add some color!
Our kitchen is a burnt orange with a touch of yellow. It was the color when we bought the place as well. I’d love to change it eventually, but unsure what color yet! I always thought I wanted red, but red is such a hard color to do! Good luck with your remodeling — what fun!!
My kitchen is beige, but you can never go wrong with a nice inviting green or yellow!
Our kitchen was just painted in May and we chose Portobello from Sherwin Williams.
My kitchen has two different shades of a blueish-grey — a lighter and darker version. And a blue Kitchenaid mixter to boot! This print would fit in nicely.
Our kitchen is white, but it works since we have lots of color on the walls in adjoining rooms.
My old kitchen was a beautiful sunny yellow, but sadly our current kitchen has grandma-esque floral wallpaper. I can’t wait to strip the walls and paint!
I’m in a rental but my future kitchen will be in a log home so it will be rustic with Polish pottery (lots of blue, white and greens)on open shelves…but my Kitchenaid is red! This print would go well!! Thanks for the chance to win!
perfect timing- I am about to paint my kitchen a light grey. I am going to accent with red!
My kitchen is chocolate bron with white accents
We just moved into our first house!! last week…and for now, the kitchen is all white- white walls, cabinets, trim, appliances…nice and bright, but it definitely needs a little color in my opinion!
Our teeny-tiny studio’s kitchen / living room / hallway / pantry is white, and in desperate need of artwork on the wall!
Almond with a Burnt Orange accent wall
I love the fork and spoon on the wall and the seasoning typed one. My kitchen is boring white because I like in an apt. Hopefully moving in a year!
I wish I could inspire you, but our kitchen is boring beige, mostly because it’s all part of one large open space…that and my husband’s irrational fear of color. Hopefully when we move I’ll have my dream yellow kitchen … like the color of daffodils and sunshine…ahhhhh.
We rent a super cute bungalow, but my kitchen is a hideous beige. The walls, cabinets and the floors are all beige with fluorescent lighting. I’ve since put a blue rug down and am trying to put cute, colorful stuff on the walls!
Green for now, but soon to be a bright sunny yellow! A kitchen paint project is in the works here too!
Since we are coming up on our one year anniversary of living in our house, I have been itching to paint and put some pictures up in our kitchen. Right now, the paint color is a light orange/peach color. It is ok but I want a bright color to “pop”
My husband and I just moved into our new house about a month ago and the whole house is a wonderful beige color. I know it sounds boring but what doesn’t go with beige? We’ve decided to go with chocolate brown accents since our kitchen cabinets are a wonderful dark brown color.
We painted our kitchen last summer Santorini Blue- It’s a rich and warm color and looks different in all types of light. I love it!
I LOVE your giant spoon and fork! Such a fun, whimsy touch! I’m back at home so I don’t have too much say in the decoration. My dream kitchen would be country French inspired!
My kitchen is just a plain tan color, but it has beautiful black counter tops! We live in an apartment and the counters are one of my favorite things about it
Hi Kristin! I’m an Iowa girl too, displaced to the land of badgers..but still wear my black and gold!
I’m not sure the exact color but…I’d say it’s a light taupe?
I shall call this color “renter’s white”.
I live in an apartment complex where, sadly, we aren’t allowed to paint the walls. They are a boring tan color, but my roommate and I have definitely spiced it up with a really cute, and modern, red and black theme!
lettuce alone from lowes- a wonderful light apple green- accented with pops of yellow, orange, and apple green- i love it!
Mine Is blue/grey but I was going for teal!
My husband and I are renting an old house in Tahoe right now and while the view is great, the kitchen is super drab–old wood cabinets, light wood grain laminate counters (blahh), and beige linoleum floor…I’d love a colorful print to brighten it up!
Well unfortunately I still live in an apartment so my walls are white. But hopefully one day I can have a pretty colored kitchen when I finish grad school and start making some money!
My kitchen is red! More like a dark, rustic red. I absolutely love it. It just seems like a kitchen color!
My kitchen is yellow. Bright yellow and I love it!! I love the funky artwork in your kitchen.
White/off-white-ish….want to paint, haven’t figured out what color yet! Has to go with the living room, since it’s opened up to it! I have brown and blue accents in the living room area, so probably something that complements those colors..
white with a red accent wall!
beige – would love to add some color!
White. Boring!
