Ben and I are no art critics, but we know what we like, and have thusly decorated our home together in perfect harmony over the past four years, with photographs and prints that remind us of special times, events, people, and places we’ve been.
Ok, that’s a lie. If Ben had his way the walls would be filled with Space Monkey prints, so it’s basically up to me to decorate the place – save for the basement/man cave where monkeys roam free.
Anyways! Let me give you a little tour of what we’ve got goin’ on around here!
The geisha photographs by my favorite photographer Lisa Kristine hanging in the front entryway reminds me of my epic times in Japan.
While the hallway contains a print of a lonely kite flyer in an exaggerated Midwest setting that reminds me of home, and a photograph of a boat taken by a friend of mine in Thailand which encourages me keep traveling far.
Another one of my favorites is this Victorian-style postcard I picked up at the Laura Plantation and placed in an ornate frame. Not only was it inexpensive, but it also sparks the memory of Ben’s and my unforgettable trip to New Orleans a couple years ago, every time I pass by.
Things really start to get fun around the kitchen though! I spend so much time in here that I went a little crazy and filled it with funky pieces that I just love, including this cool spice plaque Ben got me for my birthday a few years ago from Roux Royale.
A beautiful, hand painted plate we picked out in Praiano’s famous pottery shop reminds me of our trip of a lifetime to Italy, while a giant spoon and fork hanging on the back wall serves as an awesome conversation piece.
Always looking to add a new, fun, and fresh element to the space, I was pumped when Jayna at Bellabyte – a graphic design artist whom I featured on Friday Favorites a few months back – offered to send me the modern kitchen tools print I had featured, AND extended the offer to one IGE reader!
I chose this bright and funky kitchen tools print, but Jayna is offering to give away any print in her shop, in any size, and any color. She has designs for every room in the house from the kitchen to the kids’s room, and even vintage-style art prints!
Enter to win one print from Bellabyte by tomorrow, Wednesday, July 18 at 4pm, by leaving a comment on this post telling me what color your kitchen is. I need some inspiration to paint the truly heinous orange left by the previous owners that I’ve been complaining about for, cough, 4 years, cough.
Good luck!

My kitchen is a beautiful coral orange. Kind of like a pomegranate punch!
I LOVE it!
My kitchen is white and boring – I need some nice bright photos for the walls! This prize would be perfect!
Right now my kitchen has a lot of red tones but I am about to move to a new apartment so maybe a fresh start?? I would love to do some dark grays, super-whites, and touches of minty-greens for color!
Our kitchen is off-white and fairly neutral so any of her great prints would go – I particularly like the kitchen tools in mustard or red, trying to add some color to our new apartment!
I live in a rented apartment, so all of my walls are white, but I do have green accents in the kitchen (tea kettle, kitchen towels, clock).
My roommates and I just moved into a new apartment and the walls are plain white but even better we have pink blinds…they’re hideous!
My kitchen has light tan walls, with green and red accents. It somehow manages to not look Christmas-y.
Currently our house is being built and kitchen wall Color is macadamia. Planning on using reds., green., and marigold as accent Colors and changing it ever so often.
We are moving into a NEW HOUSE at the end of the month and the walls are beige so I will need some color.
My kitchen is the color of a green apple only a bit lighter. I enjoy reading your blog from my Sierra Foothills home in Northern California; however, we are spending the we in a cabin on Lake Okoboji where I grew up!
Your’re kitchen is darling! My kitchen is beige but moving next month, and looking forward to painting it a few color!
My kitchen is a depressing white with a tacky whiteboard on the wall. I have beautiful pictures in my head of what I want it to look like! I love mustard color in a kitchen.
Since I rent my kitchen is boring white. However, I could spice it up with some color and a new print!!!
I like the orange in your kitchen. Maybe it looks different in person. My kitchen is avocado green. Maybe that’s why I like the orange.
before we remodeled our kitchen, the color was by Benjamin (IBE!) Moore called Wasabi. IT WAS AWESOME. after our remodel we decided on an olive/grey color since our new cabinets are a very dark charcoal (almost black). I loved the Wasabi but combined with the dark cabinets, it looked like Halloween 24/7 Town.
Our paint is similar to Sticks and Stones, it’s an odd color that at times has a brown tone and others has a grey. All based upon the light and other items in the room.
My kitchen is a boring standard rental “egg shell white”. Blech, boring. But my love and I have plans of moving into a house this fall and I’m already fantasizing of a kitchen in a deep brick red or butter yellow or….
Our kitchen has a black-and-white checked floor and yellow and black tiles (circa 1950) on the countertops and back splash.
My kitchen is currently white! even the appliances!! Makes it extremely easy to decorate but waiting until rehab to invest in paints
We rent an apartment so all our walls are white, but I accent in a leafy green and earthy brown tones. Very natural and soothing for us!
I call our kitchen the “vanilla kitchen” because it’s cream from top to bottom. I have plans to paint it a gorgeous Navy Blue, and already picked up some samples. Benjamin Moore has some beautiful shades!
Adorable! Our kitchen is light green with red accents! How perfect for the print you highlighted!
Yellow. It brings a certain energy to the kitchen.
My kitchen is a yellow/gold Colorado called Spiced Vinegar. I have red and green Coca Cola accents that make it fun.
Mt kitchen is brown and beige as of right now (but I’m renting) I’d loooove to have an olive leaf green, & deep purple kitchen with all red appliances. It looks great in my head.
Our kitchen is BORING builder-grade tan. I jazz it up with funky colored appliances and utensils. One of these prints would be PERFECT above our stove!
My kitchen is boring white with some accent color with prints…so one of the artists bright prints would fit right in!
The kitchen in my apartment is white. The counters are a light yellow so I rock a Tuscany-inspired color palette.
We just moved into a new place and the kitchen (and every room) is currently beige. I would really like to paint a couple of walls in my kitchen dining area a cheerful color! Sorry I cannot give any advice on the right color.
black and white. classic.
My kitchen is tan with 2 dark barn red (not sure how to describe it) walls!
Greyish stone color and dark red accent wall.
My kitchen is beige, but I have a chalkboard wall to spice it up and make lists!
My kitchen is apple green. Cheerful and I really like it! Added some roller shades to replace the awful mini blinds. Get lots of compliments.
I live in a cabin. My kitchen is wood.
Our kitchen is a soft gray that flows with our living room. However, I’m in the process of having our backsplash tiled with black and white tile….that should liven it up a bit!
I’m ashamed to admit this. My kitchen is white. We moved in 3 years ago and it’s still white. I hate it. I need this print to give me motivation please!!!
My kitchen is currently very boring – beige. My dream kitchen is white with accents from the rainbow!
I have a deep terra cotta colored kitchen. Still needs wall decor.
I’m still in my apartment-living phase of life, so my kitchen is white for now, but I have decided that one day the walls will be Tiffany blue with orange appliances.
My kitchen was brown with a tan accent wall so to spice it up I painted color blocks on the tan with brown, a rich red, golden yellow, and a sage green. I LOVE IT!!! Everyone who sees it thinks it’s awesome too! (and super easy if you plan it out and measure well)! Our kitchen is light tan with eggplant and olive touches
My kitchen is textured and off white. I also have a large fork, spoon and knife. Love all of your art!
My kitchen is a light brown. We are planning on putting in a glass tile backsplash this fall to spruce it up!
yellow. Bright and cheery!
I am looking for a house right now but in my old house, it was a nice bright but soft yellow. Very sunny and fresh!!
Our kitchen is totally bland right now…I am in need of an upgrade. Right now it’s a greenish/grey color.
Our kitchen has a LOT of white, so the small wall space that shows is a very pale mint green. It keeps it bright but still interesting.
My kitchen is yellow with a wooden chair railing to separate the paint and the wallpaper. The top half is paint, and the bottom portion is a red, navy, tan, plum, green, and yellow plaid. I have dark oak cabinets and a light oak floor. The country feel is so cozy, it makes cooking sensational!
I’ve got a dark blue on the 2 walls with the cabinets (which 1 is shared with my living room) and 1 wall with an off white/grey color.
