Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio is one of the BEST amusement parks in the world. My family and I went every summer growing up, when we were in Ohio visiting family. I was 14 before I was tall enough to go on all the best rides, including the Millennium Force roller coaster which goes NINETY THREE miles an hour and includes an EIGHTY DEGREE drop at the top. Vomit/AWESOME! Totally worth the trip if you are ever in the area!

I love me some cedar point! I do have a question though – sorry for being so dense, but I have no idea where all these daily escape posts are coming from? I’ve been trying to figure it out for weeks but it just seems really random, and I can’t find where you introduced the idea for the series or anything. Help?
Here’s the post where I introduced it: http://iowagirleats.com/2012/07/02/waikiki-pizza-new-daily-blog-feature/
Although I mostly post recipes here on IGE, there’s also fitness and travel elements to the site, and the Daily Escape feature is just a way to share my love of travel!
Cedar Point is awesome and well worth the drive OH from IA I think!
What a small world!! I live in Keokuk,IA and my mom moved to Kent,OH after her second husband got a job there. So when my husband and I visited, her husband took my brothers, my hubby and oldest son to Cedar Point. I had just given birth a month earlier is why I didn’t go the first time, but I heard from my husband and oldest son how much fun they had! My brother’s loved that place, too. Although I loved going on the rides, mom didn’t so I stayed with her. Love your posts, recipes and pictures!!~~
Thanks for your fun blog~~

Being an Ohioan I love that you acknowledged Cedar Point as a daily escape!!! Ohio is so proud of the park and all it has become. I also love that it is right on Lake Erie so at the top of high roller coasters you get to see a gorgeous view right before you drop!! That whole area is a great vacation site from the beaches to this great park. Thanks so much for featuring this Ohio treasure to tour blog followers (including me)… Keep up the great work and gorgeous places and food!!!
woooooo!!! i LOVE cedar point! i went to college only about 45 minutes from there and they used to have 2-for-1 night passes in the fall, which meant we could ride ALL the rollercoasters at night for just $13!! craziness!! but so awesome. they have a new-ish coaster that has a 95 degree drop! yes, that means you go 5 degrees PAST straight down. AND it only has a lap belt. talk about THRILL ride!!
Oh this makes me miss home!! Grew up in Cleveland, less than 2 hours away, but I lived in Houston for the past 2 years and just moved to SLC, Utah this week. Millennium Force is my absolute fave!!
Add me to the list of people who heartily endorse this escape! I’m from the Detroit area and Cedar Point is our theme park of choice. I haven’t been in so long… it may be time to remedy that!
I went to Cedar Point growing up a few times and went a few years ago with my husband and another couple. It’s so much fun as an adult!! We stayed for 12 hours! I recommend to bring a cooler with a lunch to leave in their picnic area, it provides a nice break and some saves some $.
This makes me miss those 14 hour days at Cedar Point every summer! Best memory was running to the last ride of the night by midnmight-at that time, as long as you were in line my midnight-you got to ride the ride no matter how long it took! Great memories!!!
Me and my family live in Oklahoma and have made the drive to Cedarpoint 3 or 4 times over the last 6 years. Its definitely the roller coast capital of the world! Each summer my family and I travel to different amusement parks and its the best!
I’m so glad Cedar Point was your Daily Escape! I actually used to work there in the summers when I was in college (2004-2007) as a ride host. Everyone should go to that place at least once in their life!
