Well the morning was a success – my Dad ran his first race ever without stopping!!! He was SO proud and I think I’m even prouder!
Parking lot shot…Dad’s pretty nervous at this point…
Running man.
Finish line for the 20k people who ran starting at 7:00am.
My time tracker:
Pre-race fuel: Kettle Corn…I couldn’t help myself. They shouldn’t make it so delicious if they don’t want people eating it! I only ate of the cup though
My mom walked the 5k with one of her friends. Here we are right before we started!!
At the starting line…GO!
Mid-race…doing good…
Some scenery pics along the way…
And…he finished!! I ran ahead of him so I could take his picture!
Look how happy he is!!!
My brother ended up getting there late and couldn’t run with my Dad and I, so we met him afterwards. He actually somehow passed us during the race and we saw him when the first half of the pack was on the way back from the turnaround, but homeboy was in the ZONE and didn’t see/hear us!
#1 Runna…
WHEW! What a GREAT morning! After the race there were bands playing, free kettle corn, fruit, pulled pork sandwiches, water, pop, BEER!!! Which I didn’t have any of, but it’s still pretty sweet that they offered it!
I’ll say it again – SO proud of my Dad. He got hot, he got tired, but dammit, he ran the whole thing. He’d say it himself…if he can do it – YOU can too!!
