Are you ready for some football (food)?!
Ben and I stayed out pretty late last night (well, for me!) so we slept in this morning, watched television in bed, then went to Trader Joe’s to get football watchin’ snacks – it’s the Hawkeyes’ last game today!
I’m telling you – those boys are completely unpredictable and make me more and more nervous every single week. You never know what kind of team you’re going to get, so hopefully they can pull through today!
If not – at least Ben and I had a tasty time watching them.
Now football watching fare should always include something hot and cheesy, imo, so we started with some Taco Seasoned Beef, Bean & Cheese Dip with Tortilla Chips!
FYI Ben and I seriouslyhad to reel it in at TJ’s today. Everything there sounds SO good that we had to force ourselves to leave the store before we bought everything in sight!
This dip was a must-have though and we thought it’d be a perfect snack for the game. It was super easy – just pop it in the oven to heat…
then eat!
Toootally zesty and flavorful – and super creamy and cheesy! And for like $2.49 or something insane like that!
I made the joke that with Trader Joe’s nearby, I really don’t have to cook ever again. Everything is so inexpensive and there are some really healthy pre-made and frozen meal options. Love, love, LOVE IT! And this dip!
Scooped while we whooped!
As we devoured the dip, I popped some Bacon Wrapped Scallops with Brown Sugar Glaze into the oven. I KNOW!!!
The ingredient list is just bacon, scallops and brown sugar (nice) and these babies are BIG.
20 minutes in the oven and a quick fry under the broiler,
and we were ready to dine.
Awesome. AWESOME. I literally couldn’t have made these faster or cheaper myself, so they were a win all around. The bacon was salty and slightly sweet, and the scallop was perfectly chewy. YUM.
You could totally tell people you made these yourself if you took them to a party too.
While we ate, we sipped on some Honest Tea. Last night, before we went out, Ben and watched How I Made my Millions on MSNBC (we’re cool) about people who made $$$ with super simple concepts, and the guys who invented the tea were featured.
They wanted a sweet tea that wasn’t loaded with sugar, and couldn’t find anything like it already in the market, so they came up with their own blend. Apparently people just loved it, the business took off and the rest is history!
I had to stop at the regular grocery store today too and found this in the health food section, so I decided to pick up a bottle to see what all the fuss was about.
The Moroccan Mint Green Tea has mint, honey and peppermint flavors, and is just 34 calories a bottle. Ehhh, it wasn’t sweet enough for me…I’ll stick to Snapple.
Still cool that I know the story behind it now though!
Well the second half of the game has started and the Hawkeyes are down by 3 points.
Commencing screaming at the tv in 3…2…1…
See ya’!
