Murphy’s Law is wreaking havoc on my life.

Last week, we got a double dose of sad family news.

Then the flight fiasco.

Next I dropped my laptop from 3 feet in the air and now my cursor wildly jumps around the page causing me to type random things in different places.

To top is all off, today, on the coldest day of the winter so far, our furnace broke and the house got down to a mind-numbing 50 degrees while we waited for the repairman to install a teeny-tiny part in two minutes. It cost $250.

Ay, yi, yi.

As you can imagine, I was in no mood to cook tonight. Thank Heaven’s for Hy-Vee’s All You Can Eat Salad Bar.

Seriously, Hy-Vee. Trader Joe’s might be my hunky, alluring, flavor of the week, but you’re my trusty, not-going-anywhere, true love.

I mean really, how could all of this – for $7 – NOT make you feel better?!

I crunched my sorrows away with crispy cucumbers, plump tomatoes, salty bacon and tender turkey, drizzled with savory balsamic vinaigrette.

Nothing tastes better than a gigantic salad after you’ve been traveling for 4 days either. It was seriously, exactly what I needed.

Rounded out with a bowl of Baked Potato Soup (which didn’t look so much like straight up melted Velveeta in real life,)

and a giant plate of fresh fruit. Strawberries, Pineapple, Blueberries, Raspberries and Blackberries. Uggggggh, yesssssssss…

I can’t forget to mention the plate of unidentified fluff that I also polished off…

I think it was Snickers flavored. Hated it.

I feel better already. I think it was the bacon. Or the unidentified fluff. Probably both though.

In other news, it’s legit -13 degrees outside right now so I’m going to be diving headfirst into my Cuddl Dud PJs (seriously you NEED these!) and crawling into bed ASAP.
