Well…

I’ve got splinters in my knuckles from knocking on that dang proverbial wood and it was all for nothing because…WE LOST. By one point. ONE. POINT! UGH! Oh well, at least we had fun losing…

This was my first time at my parents new tailgating spot this season, and I LOVED it! In the past we’ve tailgated on a hill that was super loud and kind of muddy, but their new digs are in a nice lot with plenty of room to spread out (and right next to the basketball arena with restrooms – KEY!)

omg check out these guys’ grill ATTACHED to the back of their car. Genius! I totally need to get myself one of these!

The whole fam was there and we had a tasty lunch feast.

Supplemented by dranks, natch! I sipped on a couple Screwdrivers 

and nibbled on goodies like cinnamon rolls, scotcharoos,  

pulled pork, fruit,

and my FAVORITE tailgating foods: Peanuts & Candy Corn (both of which I semi hate by themselves, but are unstoppable when combined!)

and Pickle Bites! LOVE THESE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately Ben and I didn’t have tickets to the game, so we hung out until it was time for everyone else to pack up and head out.

Then we headed off to watch the game at the bars in town and meet up with some friends!

ps let’s blame the loss on Ben wearing a red hat in Hawkeye territory, mmmkay?

I swear you have no concept of time when you’re in those dark bars and before we knew it, we were STARVING. Hmmm, maybe because it was almost 6:00?!

Gyros for dinner! One of my favorite things about going to Iowa City (where the University of Iowa is located) is getting a gyro from the street vendors there. They are so good. And so greasy. But so amazing.

We’re finally back home and trying to get back to normal. I feel like I haven’t had a standard weekend day at home in weeks! We went grocery shopping, picked up the house, and now I’m relaxing on the couch. It’s a grey and dreary day outside – perfect for snuggling, me thinks!
