Eat
Ooo, the rings are a wee bit tight this morning! Apparently that wasn’t light bacon bourbon sauce dousing my stuffed pork chop last night…
My appetite was next to nil when I woke up so I munched on a plate pluots & peaches for breakfast.
So, here’s the dish on Pluots. They’re 70% plum, 30% apricot and 100% awesome. The variety I got are about 2 times the size of a regular plum (win) and the flavors are uber enhanced (yum)!
The skin is extra snappy and tart, while the flesh is super juicy and sweet.
I don’t think I’d necessarily know I was eating plout if I didn’t know I was eating a pluot. I’d probably just think I was eating an extra big & sweet plum.
Gorgeous, no?! Like a tropical Hawaiian flower or something!
Paired with a plump peach.
These babies have been ripening on my counter for a week, and they’re just dripping with juice.
Gosh I just love those colors!
Ben’s got the day off, so I think we’re going to grab some sushi for lunch. Speaking of…
Love
I went to see the movie that inspired this post – Eat, Pray, Love with Julia Roberts – on Wednesday and, as expected, I LOVED it! My Mom cried.
Don’t get me wrong, it was loooong – longer than some would be able to sit through – but I was captivated by the book and thus, the movie.
The “pray” portion in India was the most different from the book (or at least how I interpreted the book in my mind) and I ADORED the “love” portion in Bali with perfectly cast Javier Bardem as the love interest. (Seriously, he was so dreamy in this role!!!)
The “eat” portion, set in Rome, was fabulous because it featured food, food and more food as a starring character. Spaghetti, Napoli pizza, braised artichokes, fried zucchini flowers – omg, yum. Got me even that more excited for my trip!!
Pray
Well, my prayers have finally been answered because, it’s Friday. Ahhhhh. (That’s me releasing a very big breath.) This has been a long week and I’m ready to kick back and relax this weekend. Starting with happy hour after work tonight!
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go buy some beer and a lotto ticket before I head in. Beer for said happy hour and I’m picking up a lotto ticket while I’m at the convenience store because, you can’t win if you don’t play. Wow, wonder how I’ll explain this pre-8am purchase to the cashier…!
Oh! Before I go – here’s the winner of the case of Chobani Greek Yogurt:
Maura: I loooove 0% Chobani w/ fresh peaches, granola, and blueberries. Deeeelish!
Congrats Maura! Email me at IowaGirlEats@gmail.com to collect yo’ prize.
Have a wonderful FRIday!

Who would you want to play YOU in a movie about your life?
I’d want Kristen Bell to play me. Slap a brown wig on ‘er and I think she’d portray me pretty accurately!
