All my favorite 4th of July recipes for your eating and drinking pleasure on this festive holiday!
I really love curating recipe roundup posts, and I hope you like reading them too. Going through old posts is like like flipping through an old, well-used cook book, re-discovering favorites and a few soon-to-be ones too. Except, well, there’s no paper.
Anyway, no recipe round up post gets me quite as amped as the 4th of July one does. I don’t know what it is, but these recipes get me crazy excited! Maybe it’s the nostalgia of making and eating recipes I remember my Mom whipping up every summer like Dirt Cake, Classic Potato Salad, and Judy’s Baked Beans. Or perhaps it’s the thrill of giving summer staples an updated twist like S’More Rice Krispie Treats and Grilled Sweet Corn with Chili Lime Honey Butter.
Whatever it is, the 4th of July is one holiday that’s about having FUN with your food. And fireworks. And Dad’s Killer Beergaritas. But I digress.
In between parades, badminton games (omg I seriously just now remembered that I was part of a badminton duo in college gym class called Team Blood Lust. BAHAHAHA, we were awful,) and boat rides, give a couple of these fourth of July-friendly recipes a try next week!
Judy’s Baked Beans
There’s no other baked bean recipe in my (virtual) cook book besides Judy’s Baked Beans. A little sweet, savory, and totally decadent, I promise you’ll go back for seconds and thirds of these luscious baked beans which are a long time family favorite.
Mini S’More Pies
You guys flipped when I posted these adorable, individual Mini S’More Pies last summer. No bonfire? No problem! I can’t think of a more quintessential summer dessert than s’mores.
Best-Ever Southwestern Black Bean Dip
If you’re tasked with bringing a side to a 4th of July get-together, make Best-Ever Southwestern Black Bean Dip to share. This is THE BEST chip dip and bonus, you can say you ate your veggies, too!
Grilled Sweet Corn with Chili Lime Honey Butter
Fresh summer sweet corn is grilled then slathered with a smokey-sweet compound butter in Grilled Sweet Corn with Chili-Lime Honey Butter. Tastes even better than it sounds.
Patriotic Apple Rings
I recently whipped up this cute, festive, crunchy, and creamy snack for The Laughing Cow to celebrate the 4th. All I did was slather thick-cut rings of fresh red apple with a Light White Cheddar cheese wedge, then topped ‘em with fresh blueberries. Delicious and easy!
A summer classic, Dirt Cake is a no-brainer for dessert on the 4th. This sweet layered treat is a hit with both kids and adults. (I hear Glutino makes a great gluten-free “Oreo”, too!)
Sweet Tea Vodka Lemonade Mojitos
Sweet Tea Vodka Lemonade Mojitos are the most delicious thing to come out of my liquor cabinet since…well, ever! These babies are perfectly thirst-qenching. Mix a bunch ahead of time then shake with ice when you’re ready to sip.
Mediterranean Orzo Salad
Mediterranean Orzo Salad is awesome cold or warm – it’s like, so versatile. Delicious too! I just love the combination of feta, capers, and kalamata olives. Mmm…
Best-Ever French Onion Dip
The recipe for Best-Ever French Onion Dip is a God-send considering my favorite French Onion Dip in the world (AE’s, y’all) is not gluten-free. Thick and totally addicting, this dip is made lighter by using Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.
Mojito Fruit Salad
If the 4th is going to be scorching where you live this year, be sure to have a big batch of Mojito Fruit Salad on hand. This fruit salad recipe is easy, sweet, and refreshing – not to mention beautiful!
I think I include my Sangria recipe in pretty much every warm-weather recipe roundup post, and for good reason. This simple Sangria doesn’t call for a bunch of different liquors and is seriously so, so good.
Mom’s Classac Potato Salad
It wouldn’t be July 4th without a big ol’ scoop of Mom’s Classic Potato Salad! Made without crunchy and unnecessary “extras” this potato salad is pure and simple. A classic.
Ultimate Red-Skinned Potato Salad (Mayo-Free!)
Still want potato salad at your July 4th shindig, but hate mayo? I’ve got you covered with Ultimate Red-Skinned Potato Salad. Every bite is seriously mouthwatering on account of the light and delicious honey-dijon vinaigrette. And bacon, of course.
Root Beer Can Chicken
I know I just posted this, but a little reminder is always nice. Throw a Root Beer Can Chicken on the grill on the 4th than go play a volleyball game or two. Juicy meat with crispy skin will be ready when you are!
Easiest Fruit Salad
Need a fruit salad recipe, and fast? Make quick, crowd-pleasing Easiest Fruit Salad which comes laced with a special Midwestern-inspired ingredient.
Grandpa’s Pasta Salad
Every good cook out has to have at least one pasta salad, and this one’s it – promise. Grandpa’s Pasta Salad is chock-full of yummy ingredients and jazzed up with an awesome store-bought seasoning blend.
Dad’s Killer Beergaritas
‘Tis the season for Dad’s Killer Beergaritas! These ultra-refreshing Beergaritas are one of my Dad’s specialties and man, they are absolutely killer. We drink a few every year on the 4th. It’s tradition!
The Best Fruit Dip. EVER.
Fruit lovers, grab your spoons -er, fruit. Seriously though, this 3 ingredient Fruit Dip is so good you’ll want to eat it with a spoon!
Fresh Margarita Chicken
If margaritas are on the 4th of July menu this year, go ahead and use some of the fresh ingredients to make Fresh Margarita Chicken. This marinated chicken recipe is fresh and best when paired with a mountain of guacamole.
Strawberry Angel Food Cake Jars
Add a layer of fresh blueberries and these individual Strawberry Angel Food Cake Jars are July 4th-ready!
Strawberry Lemonade Spritzers
If beer and liquor aren’t your thing, these Strawberry Lemonade Spritzers using cold white wine could be. Light, fizzy, and oh-so refreshing on a hot July night.
S’More Rice Krispie Treats
These simply adorable S’More Rice Krispie Treats are sweet, goeey, and crispy. A totally awesome switch up from the standard s’more!
Have a safe and happy holiday!
