Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Noooo! There’s a blizzard a-comin’!
Last night we got a dainty dusting of the white stuff, but the next 12-24 hours are supposed to bring 12 more inches, 50 mph wind gusts and 13 foot drifts… I’m over it. I loathe snow. There…I said it!
It’s true. I love the jolly, holiday decorations, but me and snow are like oil and water. We don’t mix well…
That doesn’t mean I don’t like to take pictures of it though – it’s awfully photogenic, don’t you think?
How do you feel about the white stuff? I love to watch it fall – so romantic – but the second I have to put my foot in it, it’s ovah!
Well, if I’m going to get snowed in this week, I’m glad I’ve got leftovers from tonight’s dinner to fill my belly. It’s what my beloved Dutch oven was working on yesterday afternoon – filling the the house with a warm, savory scent – Wine Braised Beef Shepard’s Pie.
Ohhhh yes! After spending a couple hours simmering away in a bath of red wine and vegetables, a chuck roast became deliciously fork tender.
After being combined with some bright green peas,
and topped with some fluffy, red-skin mashed potatoes,
Shepard’s Pie was up!
I made this dish it least a half dozen times last winter and know of NO other dish that is as comforting and cozy. It is an absolute treat and hello, it’s topped with mashed potatoes. ‘Nuff said!
I’ll be posting the recipe tomorrow, so you can make this dish the next time you have a lazy Sunday afternoon, a hankering for something comforting – or find yourself snowed in.
You’ll absolutely love it!
In other news…
Don’t forget to enter up to 3 times for the Larabar Variety Pack Giveaway! You have until 3pm central on Wednesday to get it on the action. Trust me, you want to win this giveaway!
