Happy belated Halloween – muwahaha! This is Lincoln’s best scary face. Boo!
I die.
Anyway, if you’re anything like me, you overdid it on candy this week. I mean, come on! Passing on mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and fun-size Laffy Taffy is just not going to happen around Halloween time. Not on my watch.
That being said, if you’re in need of a healthy meal to get back on track, an entree salad is it. Chock-full of healthy fruits, veggies, and protein, they fill you up and feeling on top. Unlike Smarties which take 2 or 3 sleeves to realize that yep, they still taste like chalk dust, and give you sugar belly. Will I ever learn?
At any rate, get back on track this weekend with any of my 10 favorite healthy salad recipes here on Iowa Girl Eats. Hope you enjoy!
BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad
BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad is definitely one of my favorite salad recipes here on IGE. Filling, full of decadent flavors, and extremely satisfying – it tastes like it came from a restaurant!
Kale Chopped Salad with Maple-Almond Vinaigrette
Kale Chopped Salad with Maple-Almond Vinaigrette actually IS from a restaurant! Inspired by my trip to The Westside Local in Kansas City, this salad is full of different flavors and textures like dried cranberries, kale, almonds, fried shallots, and brussels sprouts, tossed in a luscious Maple-Almond Vinaigrette.
California Cobb Salad with Tarragon Vinaigrette
The fresh flavors of the west coast shine in California Cobb Salad with Tarragon Vinaigrette. The fresh tarragon in the vinaigrette really makes the flavors pop.
Autumn Salmon Salad with Honey-Apple Cider Vinaigrette
Another restaurant-inspired salad! Autumn Salmon Salad with Honey-Apple Cider Vinaigrette is a nod to Old Ebbit Grill’s version in Washington DC. Take advantage of in-season beets, which make this salad perfect for fall.
Copycat Culver’s Chicken Cashew Salad
Simplicity is what makes Copycat Culver’s Chicken Cashew Salad so good. Just lettuce, tomatoes, chicken, cashews, and fresh cheddar cheese. Make sure to use freshly hand-shreded cheese for the best flavor. This salad is really good drizzled with raspberry vinaigrette.
Chicken Fajita Sizzling Salad
Talk about an entree salad… Fresh fajita fixin’s are sauteed until sizzling then piled atop a bed of cold, crunchy lettuce in Chicken Fajita Sizzling Salad. You’ll love this combo.
Chipotle-Mango BBQ Chicken Salad
Homemade Chipotle-Mango BBQ Sauce is what makes this chicken salad so good. It’s easy and delicious. Plus, who doesn’t like to say they made their own BBQ sauce?!
Inner Goddess Detox Salad
A big Inner Goddess Detox Salad is always a good way to get back on track after over indulging. Chock full of good for you, detoxifying ingredients!

I could NOT love this Buffalo Chicken Cobb Salad with Buffalo Deviled Eggs more! The Buffalo Deviled Eggs really set it apart. I could eat 400.
Avocado and Chicken Caprese Salad
I might have saved the best for last. Avocado and Chicken Caprese Salad drizzled with sweet and luscious balsamic reduction is incredibly delicious and satisfying. Fresh and incredibly easy, too!

Happy 1st Halloween little pumpkin!
We had a really low number of trick or treaters this year! Why?? So much leftover candy! Thanks for the salad refresher!
Have a great weekend :)
Trisha 11.01.2013
Yes. It’s salad time for sure. The days between Halloween and Thanksgiving are always my most successful for eating healthy. I’m planning to work my way through this pile of Almond Joy & Heath bars (because kids don’t like coconut and toffee, right?!) over the weekend, while loading up on as many veggie as possible otherwise.
Hillary | Nutrition Nut on the Run 11.01.2013
Lincoln is too cute to possibly be scary ;)

Thank you for the motivation to eat something healthy this weekend! I definitely over-did it with Halloween candy last night. We had 11 (yep, ELEVEN!) trick-or-treaters last night and of course, I purchased two giant bags of candy in preparation!

Hey Rosie, I’m glad you love Friday Favorites! With a new baby I have next to no extra time to surf the web so I’ve been posting Friday Favorites about every other week (the last one was last Friday.) Thanks for your understanding.
