Don’t let fall slip away without checking off these warming, hearty recipes from your fall cooking bucket list!
As I mentioned earlier, we’ve been enjoying the past couple of weeks of fall now that it’s officially here. That said, I’ve tried not to put too much pressure on us to do all the things. I told a friend the other day that I’m committed to keeping my expectations for productivity, activity, (and thus my sanity!) low for the next year at least, which means not trying to do it all. So far, I’m doing ok with it!
While an apple picking trip is not in the cards, we’ve been going to the pumpkin patch as often as we can. Homemade Halloween costumes are certainly not in the works, but we’ve been cooking up a comfort-food storm on the weekends. I’ve also been trying to limit time spent on social media lately because nothing ignites fall FOMO more then scrolling past your friends in all their house-decorating, festival-attending, orchard-picking glory, amiright?
Anyway, like I said, since we’ve been home a little bit more lately, Ben and I have been cooking yummy, cozy meals on the weekends. One tradition I’m always happy to see pop up in the fall is opening a bottle of wine on Sunday afternoons then sipping while we chop, saute, then simmer our way to something hearty like chili, beef stew, or some new cozy concoction like roast beef poutine, which we dined on this past weekend. What can I say, the only thing we love more then day-drinking a juicy cab is braised meat topped with cheese curds.
If you find yourself in the same boat as us – looking to cook your way through this delicious time of year – then this post is for you! My fall cooking bucket list is full of my all-time favorite, fall-inspired recipes. Oh man, they are all SO good that I truly don’t know if I can pick a favorite. If pressed, I guess I’d start with the Apple Orchard Panani. ;)
Friends, fall is short and this list is long – let’s get cooking!
Fall Shredded Brussels Sprouts Salad
The most popular fall recipe on IGE is always Fall Shredded Brussels Sprouts Salad. Filled with healthy, fall-inspired ingredients, it’s crispy, crunchy, savory, and sweet. You gotta try it.
Maple Pumpkin Oatmeal Breakfast Bars
I’ve been hearing from dozens of people who have made, loved, and demolished my Maple Pumpkin Oatmeal Breakfast Bars! They have just the right amount of sweetness, pumpkin, and spice. Doesn’t hurt that they also taste like cake. ;)
Homemade Cream of Mushroom and Cream of Chicken Soup
Casserole season is officially here so be sure to keep the recipes for Homemade Cream of Chicken Soup and Cream of Mushroom Soup on hand. These creamy soups are gluten-free, made with pantry staples, and easily made dairy-free, too. So much better then the canned stuff.
No-Bake Caramel Apple Cheesecake Dip
No-Bake Caramel Apple Cheesecake Dip is sweet, whippy, made with 3 ingredients, and just about the best thing you can pair with graham crackers (it’s time to step up your game, s’mores!)
Signature Spicy, Smoky, Sweet Chili
It doesn’t get more fall then Signature Spicy, Smoky, Sweet Chili! With just the right balance of spiciness, smokiness, and sweetness, it’s my absolute favorite chili recipe in the world. Make often over the next couple of months.
Easy Pumpkin Spice Latte, 3 Ways
All you need is 5 minutes to make your own Pumpkin Spice Lattes at home. These warm and cozy drinks taste way (WAY) better than any coffee shop’s version. I’ve also included instructions for a kid-friendly option which Lincoln adores.
Caesar Spinach and Artichoke Dip
Creamy, cheesy, savory – eat straight from the spoon worthy. Caesar Spinach and Artichoke Dip is spinach and artichoke dip spiked with Caesar dressing (I die) and a MUST HAVE for watching football on fall weekends.
Stovetop Apple Crisp for Two
Stovetop Apple Crisp for Two was created out of necessity – every fall I go crazy making big batches of apple crisp then end up eating way more than I should (read: the whole pan.) Problem solved with this awesome, small-batch recipe. The skillet crisp topping is INSANE.
Black Bean and Butternut Squash Quesadillas
An oldie but goodie (SO goodie!) Top Black Bean and Butternut Squash Quesadillas with guacamole for a crispy, cheesy, fall-inspired supper.
Sparkling Maple Bourbon Ciders
The simplicity of these (Extra Giggly!) Sparkling Maple Bourbon Ciders is laughable! (See what I did there.) Seriously though, this 3 ingredient cocktails is incredibly simple, delicious, and warming too. Great for enjoying by a fire.

Easy Bourbon-Caramel Apples with Pecans
Easy Bourbon-Caramel Apples with Pecans are for the 21+ crowd! These would be so fabulous for an adults-only Halloween party. Bourbon and caramel were made for each other, then you add crunchy pecans and sweet apples? Such a fun and delicious fall treat.
Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Bars
I recently made my first batch of Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Bars for the season and forgot how totally yummy they are – we ate an entire pan in less than 24 hours! Sweetened with just maple syrup and fresh grated apple, they’re feel good too.
Orchard Turkey Burgers with Brie and Caramelized Onions
Bye-bye bland and boring turkey burgers – this juicy fall version SLAYS. I add grated apple to the Orchard Turkey Burger patties then top with drippy brie and sweet caramelized onions. Serve on a bun or over a bed of fresh greens.
Roasted Balsamic Butternut Squash
My kids love roasted butternut squash and after scooping some onto their plates I drizzle good balsamic vinegar over Ben’s and my portion. The combination of tangy vinegar and sweet squash is incredible, making Roasted Balsamic Butternut Squash fall cooking bucket list-worthy for sure.
Maple-Dijon-Cider Pork Tenderloin
Maple-Dijon-Cider Pork Tenderloin is a tasty, updated spin on the classic pairing of pork and applesauce. A bottle of hard cider lends a tangy, apply flavor to a simple yet luscious pan sauce drizzled over juicy pork slices. This 1-skillet dinner recipe is moneyyyy.
Smoked Sausage, Kale and Cider Quinoa Skillet
Save a cup of cider from your apple picking adventures to add to Smoked Sausage, Kale and Cider Quinoa Skillet, aka fall in a dish. This is a recipe where I can’t pick my favorite flavor because I love them ALL.
Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Covered Pretzels
Do yourself an enormous favor and make a batch of Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Covered Pretzels tonight. This fall (non)cooking bucket list recipe is insanely addicting.

I mean…does it get more fall than Wild Rice Harvest Bowls with Fig-Balsamic Vinaigrette?! Not only does this bucket list all-star taste fabulous fresh, but the leftovers make for easy, yummy lunches too.
Fiesta Pork, Bean and Green Chili Chili
It’s tradition to have chili, soup or gumbo simmering on the stove on fall Sunday afternoons to eat between football games, yard work, and house chores, and I predict Fiesta Pork, Bean and Green Chili Chili will be made on repeat over the next few months. I adore how tender the pork becomes in this flavor-packed chili.
Apple Orchard Panini
Apple Orchard Panini is one of my favorite fall recipes. The combination of melted cheese, deli turkey, fresh apples and apple butter is SO satisfying. I recommend Canyon Bakehouse Mountain gluten-free bread for this recipe, btw!
Baked Apple Chips
Any time I make Baked Apple Chips I end up keeping my oven on for 12+ hours because we eat them faster than I can cool and store them! Your kids, especially, will adore this fall snack recipe.
Mini Crustless Pumpkin Pies
