Petra, an ancient city in Jordan established in prehistoric times, is half built, half carved into rock, and completely surrounded by mountains. It was unknown to the Western world until it was introduced to Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt in 1812, and if there is one place I must see before I die, this might just be it! (source)

This is on my list of places I have to go! My dad went when he was in college and has the coolest old pictures of Petra.
–the colors in the pics dont do justice to the reality of it–petra is breathtaking & if ur lucky enough to meet some of the old-timers that have lived there in days of yore, ur in for a treat–i’ve been there several times and it’s still amazing to me
I remember this from the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade movie. It was the entrance to where the cup was located. I’ve always wondered where in the world it was and if it really existed! Thanks!
I have never heard of this place before. I’m really grateful that you shared it with everyone and I can understand how this would be a place you would like to visit before you die. I’m thinking about adding it to my bucket list 2. once again thank you for blogging about Petra, Jordan
I have had the pleasure of visiting Petra while I studied abroad at BYU Jerusalem. It is quite breathtaking and the journey/hike to get there is just as amazing. I hope you make it there someday!
