Grilled Asian Tofu is quick, light, and healthy. Whip up this vegetarian dinner for two tonight!
Serves 2
Ingredients:
1 package extra firm tofu, pressed & sliced into 6 pieces
2 Tablespoons soy sauce
2 Tablespoons water
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon agave nectar (or honey)
1/4 teaspoon ginger powder
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Sprinkle red pepper flakes
Directions:
Combine all ingredients and marinate tofu slices for 10 minutes. Spray grilling surface with non-stick spray and grill for 3-4 minutes a side. Serve!
Oh. Baby. It’s been way too long since I last had tofu and this was the perfect way to bring it back – GRILLED! Well, sort of. You’ll see!
I started by marinating my tofu, (pressed in my handy dandy tofu press!) letting it soak up all the wonderful flavors for ~5 minutes a side.
Yum, yum, YUM!
Then I whipped this bad boy out – my Griddler! I totally forgot I had it!
I was planning on using the outdoor grill before I remembered the griddler, and was glad to make the switch because today’s a scorcher.
I pressed and “grilled” my tofu for about 7-8 minutes.
Ahhh – look at those grill marks! All of the presentation, but none of the sweating that comes along with standing around a hot grill in the sun. That’s something I can get into. ;)
Placed over a bed of brown rice and baby spinach sautéed in the remaining tofu marinade (there was ~1 teaspoon that the tofu hadn’t soaked up, which ended up being the perfect amount.)
Love-love-loving this dish. SO much! It was salty, and a tiny bit sweet – just the way I like it.
I’m going to go ahead and declare this a dish that even tofu haters might like. Try it out on someone who usually turnes their noses up, and let me know how it goes!

Beautiful dinner! Those grill marks are perfection.
Summer treat? Farmers’ market peaches!
What a great idea! I don’t have a griddler, but I have a panini press which is similar. I think :) I am determined to get my husband to try and like tofu.
Bree…..Hi! I JUST made this on my panini maker- was AWESOME!! I then made a panini with the grilled tofu, fresh mozzerella and roasted red peppers….my son and I were in heaven :)
I have yet to try tofu… Soon!
I love the …Sending Postcards blog. Such a cute couple.
And dilly bars, hands down.
Mmmmm!! Love me some Tofu :) My favorite summertime treat as a kid were root beer floats. Now it’s gelato or sorbetto.

Hello! I have followed your blog for a long time but this is my first comment!
I have a question about almond milk. I recently found out that I am sensitive to both gluten and dairy. I’m not a fan of soy milk and was wondering what your thoughts were on almond milk. I just bought some Almond Breeze original unsweetened almond milk and tried it in my oatmeal and coffee this morning. My oatmeal didn’t taste as sweet as usual and it was actually pretty bland even though I added 1/2 T. pure maple syrup (good thing the heaping spoonful of pbutter made up for it!). In contrast, the almond flavor was way to abundant in my iced latte! I couldnt even taste the espresso and only tasted the almond! I feel so frustrated! I really want to find a good milk alternative without all of the added sugar that comes with them. Can any one help me?
fresh berries or a blended fruit slushy!
Hmm favorite summer treat. A big glass of icey lemon water with a straw, sitting in my back yard with the sun shining down (don’ forget the spf), and maybe a good book, or maybe just enjoy the peacefulness.
Yum! I love tofu- this recipe looks like the perfect spicy/sweet combo! How do you like that grill? We’re looking into getting one :)
You definitely have no idea how much I’d love to sit down for dinner with you sometime!!! Your meals look always sooooo delish!!! And at the moment I’m just always so pressed in time that I stick to Green Monsters and veggie dip for dinner (and quick salads at work)!
I’m sure if I didn’t already love tofu I clearly would try it after looking at those pics!!! Thanks!!
