The Last 10 Fun Things I Bought | iowagirleats.com

Happy Friday, everyone, I hope you had a wonderful week!

I can’t even tell you what we’ve been up to these past couple of days. Let’s see here…had a baby doc appointment, took a bunch of walks, did some crafting with Lincoln, and DIDN’T GO TO TARGET – which was a major win in my book!

That said, today I thought it’d be fun to take a trip down memory lane, aka glance through my last few Target, Paypal, and Amazon Prime receipts, to see what the last 10 fun things I bought were (aka I’ll spare you the picture and description of the extension cord I ordered on Prime two weeks ago. You’re welcome.) I’m not a nosy person in general but will confess to occasionally glancing at the items the person behind me in the checkout line is loading onto the conveyor belt. Not in a creepy way, but more in a, “hmmm, am I missing out on anything fun?” way. Also if you’re putting wine on the belt I’m automatically looking.

You’ve been warned.

Anyway, maybe you can pick up some inspiration for a little weekend shopping, eating, or drinking – and be sure to tell us about the last FUN thing you bought in the comments section below! Have a great weekend everyone!

1. Halo Top Ice Cream

Our friends who were in town last weekend were raving about Halo Top ice cream which is not only 280 calories A PINT (which pretty much makes it a single serving, right? RIGHT?!) but also packed with 24 grams of protein. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a bowl and holy mother of pearl, it completely lived up to the hype. I’ve only tried the Birthday Cake flavor and it was rich, creamy, and completely satisfying. Since it’s made with milk and cream, versus all heavy cream, I didn’t feel absolutely disgusting afterwards either, which is usually what happens when I eat ice cream and why I tend to avoid it. Plus all the flavors are certified gluten-free. Fist pump!

Locals: I found this in HyVee’s speciality freezer section and I believe Whole Foods sells it too.

2. Victoria’s Secret Angel Slip Nightgown

Since I’ll be having a planned C for baby boy in the fall, I’m starting to stock up on lots of flowy nightgowns and robes as they won’t brush up against my incision. I’m loving these Angel Slip Nightgowns for not only being nursing-friendly (not too much material,) but postpartum NIGHT SWEAT-friendly (again, not too much material!) Also a fan of the fun sayings on the front, like: It Was All A Dream. If only I could say the same about night sweats.

3. Life-Flo Magnesium Lotion

I guess this depends on your definition of “fun” but I recently bought a bottle of Life-Flo Magnesium Lotion as a way to get more magnesium, which is said to help with everything from alleviating aches and pains, to reducing inflammation, and increasing energy, and absolutely love it. Since my body is out of whack from being pregnant I can’t say for sure if it’s doing anything (going to keep using it after the baby is born to see how I feel,) but regardless the smell is incredible. Coconut oil, shea butter, and vanilla oil in the ingredient list makes this lotion smell like straight up sugar cookies.

4. School Books

I was waiting until Lincoln turned three to start intentionally incorporating more learning into our day and, well, here we are! I bought this Big Preschool Workbook and Preschool Basics book on Amazon a couple weeks ago (they’re both a few bucks cheaper there than on the company’s website) and they’re great! Lincoln’s the type of child that if you try and force learning on him, he’s out of there. These books, though, are bright, colorful, and definitely fun.

5. Roolee Moto Leggings

I saw a review of these Moto Leggings on Julie’s blog last week and they looked absolutely adorable on her, so I had to snag a pair. I like that she said they’re stretchy (hello post baby bod) and easy to dress up or down. Plus I’ve always wanted a pair of pink pants. ? Can’t wait to wear them.

6. Chatbooks

Have you guys heard of the Chatbooks app? Basically you take all the pictures from your phone and/or social media accounts and create little flip books with them. I rarely take my DSLR with me when we’re out, preferring to use my handy dandy iPhone to document everything instead. With the Chatbooks app you select all the pictures you want from your phone then they arrange them by date into a nice little 6×6″ book. You can even add contributors so you and your spouse or friends can all make one big book together. I make one every year around Lincoln’s birthday to document the year. They’re relatively inexpensive ($8 for 30 pictures and I think $1 per each additional 10,) and I just love how easy it is. Here’s the one that just arrived for Lincoln’s third year!

7. Hi-Chew

File Hi-Chew candy under one more thing I became obsessed with while living in Japan. These candies are like upgraded Starbursts. Almost gel-like (?) for lack of a better word, and last a really long time. I’m obsessed with the grape, cherry, and strawberry flavors, and have always had to snag a pack at World Market when I’m randomly there, but recently found a huge display of them at my local Super Target. Jackpot!

8. Cameron’s Coffee Pods

I actually didn’t buy these single-serve coffee pods from Cameron’s Coffee – they were sent to me with zero strings attached – but I’ll be buying them from here on out. We retired our Keurig to the basement after getting our Nespresso machine a few months ago but brought it back up when my in-laws came to town, which coincided with the delivery of these pods. The coffee is so smooth we’ve kept the Keurig upstairs. Ben and I both love it!

I personally have never found a K-Cup that didn’t brew coffee that tasted just a little bit bitter and it’s no wonder because it’s brewed through PLASTIC! Cameron’s Coffee pods use filters which brew an unbelievably smooth cup of coffee with no bitterness, plus they’re made from compostable materials. You’ve read about the fact that the inventor of the K-Cup is horribly regretful because they aren’t recyclable, right? Cameron’s Coffee is making it right – definitely big fans here.

9. Target Wood Barrel Frame Mirror

Target is absolutely killing it on the home decor front right now – specifically on table lamps and mirrors. I bought this Wood Barrel Frame Mirror a few weeks ago and smile every time I see it (and the wood is definitely not as yellow as it appears in this picture.) My favorite part is the metal ring around the frame which makes it look like a wine barrel – so fun.

10. I Am Freaking Cold Sweatshirt

Raise your hand if you’re ALWAYS FREAKING COLD?! ? I think I featured this sweatshirt on my Instagram or Friday Favorites many months ago but it randomly popped up on my Zulily feed recently and I snatched it up without a moment’s hesitation. I will be L-I-V-I-N-G in this thing during the entire season that shall not be named!
