Happy Friday, everyone, I hope you had a wonderful week!
I can’t even tell you what we’ve been up to these past couple of days. Let’s see here…had a baby doc appointment, took a bunch of walks, did some crafting with Lincoln, and DIDN’T GO TO TARGET – which was a major win in my book!
That said, today I thought it’d be fun to take a trip down memory lane, aka glance through my last few Target, Paypal, and Amazon Prime receipts, to see what the last 10 fun things I bought were (aka I’ll spare you the picture and description of the extension cord I ordered on Prime two weeks ago. You’re welcome.) I’m not a nosy person in general but will confess to occasionally glancing at the items the person behind me in the checkout line is loading onto the conveyor belt. Not in a creepy way, but more in a, “hmmm, am I missing out on anything fun?” way. Also if you’re putting wine on the belt I’m automatically looking.
You’ve been warned.
Anyway, maybe you can pick up some inspiration for a little weekend shopping, eating, or drinking – and be sure to tell us about the last FUN thing you bought in the comments section below! Have a great weekend everyone!
1. Halo Top Ice Cream
Our friends who were in town last weekend were raving about Halo Top ice cream which is not only 280 calories A PINT (which pretty much makes it a single serving, right? RIGHT?!) but also packed with 24 grams of protein. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a bowl and holy mother of pearl, it completely lived up to the hype. I’ve only tried the Birthday Cake flavor and it was rich, creamy, and completely satisfying. Since it’s made with milk and cream, versus all heavy cream, I didn’t feel absolutely disgusting afterwards either, which is usually what happens when I eat ice cream and why I tend to avoid it. Plus all the flavors are certified gluten-free. Fist pump!
Locals: I found this in HyVee’s speciality freezer section and I believe Whole Foods sells it too.
2. Victoria’s Secret Angel Slip Nightgown
Since I’ll be having a planned C for baby boy in the fall, I’m starting to stock up on lots of flowy nightgowns and robes as they won’t brush up against my incision. I’m loving these Angel Slip Nightgowns for not only being nursing-friendly (not too much material,) but postpartum NIGHT SWEAT-friendly (again, not too much material!) Also a fan of the fun sayings on the front, like: It Was All A Dream. If only I could say the same about night sweats.
3. Life-Flo Magnesium Lotion
I guess this depends on your definition of “fun” but I recently bought a bottle of Life-Flo Magnesium Lotion as a way to get more magnesium, which is said to help with everything from alleviating aches and pains, to reducing inflammation, and increasing energy, and absolutely love it. Since my body is out of whack from being pregnant I can’t say for sure if it’s doing anything (going to keep using it after the baby is born to see how I feel,) but regardless the smell is incredible. Coconut oil, shea butter, and vanilla oil in the ingredient list makes this lotion smell like straight up sugar cookies.
4. School Books
I was waiting until Lincoln turned three to start intentionally incorporating more learning into our day and, well, here we are! I bought this Big Preschool Workbook and Preschool Basics book on Amazon a couple weeks ago (they’re both a few bucks cheaper there than on the company’s website) and they’re great! Lincoln’s the type of child that if you try and force learning on him, he’s out of there. These books, though, are bright, colorful, and definitely fun.
5. Roolee Moto Leggings
I saw a review of these Moto Leggings on Julie’s blog last week and they looked absolutely adorable on her, so I had to snag a pair. I like that she said they’re stretchy (hello post baby bod) and easy to dress up or down. Plus I’ve always wanted a pair of pink pants. ? Can’t wait to wear them.
6. Chatbooks
Have you guys heard of the Chatbooks app? Basically you take all the pictures from your phone and/or social media accounts and create little flip books with them. I rarely take my DSLR with me when we’re out, preferring to use my handy dandy iPhone to document everything instead. With the Chatbooks app you select all the pictures you want from your phone then they arrange them by date into a nice little 6×6″ book. You can even add contributors so you and your spouse or friends can all make one big book together. I make one every year around Lincoln’s birthday to document the year. They’re relatively inexpensive ($8 for 30 pictures and I think $1 per each additional 10,) and I just love how easy it is. Here’s the one that just arrived for Lincoln’s third year!
7. Hi-Chew
File Hi-Chew candy under one more thing I became obsessed with while living in Japan. These candies are like upgraded Starbursts. Almost gel-like (?) for lack of a better word, and last a really long time. I’m obsessed with the grape, cherry, and strawberry flavors, and have always had to snag a pack at World Market when I’m randomly there, but recently found a huge display of them at my local Super Target. Jackpot!
8. Cameron’s Coffee Pods
I actually didn’t buy these single-serve coffee pods from Cameron’s Coffee – they were sent to me with zero strings attached – but I’ll be buying them from here on out. We retired our Keurig to the basement after getting our Nespresso machine a few months ago but brought it back up when my in-laws came to town, which coincided with the delivery of these pods. The coffee is so smooth we’ve kept the Keurig upstairs. Ben and I both love it!
I personally have never found a K-Cup that didn’t brew coffee that tasted just a little bit bitter and it’s no wonder because it’s brewed through PLASTIC! Cameron’s Coffee pods use filters which brew an unbelievably smooth cup of coffee with no bitterness, plus they’re made from compostable materials. You’ve read about the fact that the inventor of the K-Cup is horribly regretful because they aren’t recyclable, right? Cameron’s Coffee is making it right – definitely big fans here.
9. Target Wood Barrel Frame Mirror
Target is absolutely killing it on the home decor front right now – specifically on table lamps and mirrors. I bought this Wood Barrel Frame Mirror a few weeks ago and smile every time I see it (and the wood is definitely not as yellow as it appears in this picture.) My favorite part is the metal ring around the frame which makes it look like a wine barrel – so fun.
10. I Am Freaking Cold Sweatshirt
Raise your hand if you’re ALWAYS FREAKING COLD?! ? I think I featured this sweatshirt on my Instagram or Friday Favorites many months ago but it randomly popped up on my Zulily feed recently and I snatched it up without a moment’s hesitation. I will be L-I-V-I-N-G in this thing during the entire season that shall not be named!
What’s the last fun thing you bought?
Jenny 08.19.2016
I just bought some magnesium lotion and spray from The Healthy Farm Girl. It has cinnamon essential oils in it. It smells heavenly and I have been sleeping much better, which is helping my stress over my upcoming move from Denver to Sioux Falls. So. Much. Stress. ?
Kristin 08.21.2016
Mmm that sounds like it smells Heavenly! Best of luck on your move, Jenny!
Shel 08.19.2016
The last fun thing I got was this morning: a brand spankin’ new 9-cup food processor at a church rummage sale. Never used and it included the instruction manual. A food processor has been on my list for ages. I cannot wait to put it to good use!
I’m also obsessed with Hi-Chews. I found about them at a Minnesota Twins game and cannot get enough of the green apple, grape, and mango ones. Glad to know I’m not alone!
Kristin 08.21.2016
That is a FIND!!! You’ll love it!
Fiona @ Get Fit Fiona 08.19.2016
I need that shirt! My boyfriend is constantly telling me he can’t believe how cold I am all the time.
Casey the College Celiac 08.19.2016
That magnesium lotion sounds amazing! And Halo Top always sounds so yummy too…I just wish I could tolerate dairy >.<
anna* 08.19.2016
Did you have trouble when you first set up Chatbooks? I downloaded the app and made a book and it won’t let me add a shipping address…. Take my money!! Annoying.
Kristin 08.19.2016
I didn’t! I’d email/call customer support!
Dena 08.19.2016
HOW are you buying that sweatshirt? I wanted it the last time you posted it for my daughter (she is ALWAYS complaining about being cold), but it was sold out. So when I saw it again, I got so excited, and STILL (or again!) sold out. Pout. Oh, and have you ever tried “Natural Calm” for magnesium? It’s amazing and such a nice evening “treat” to help relax you before bed. Can’t live without it.
Kristin 08.19.2016
Zulily is great because they have fun things but they sell out SO fast! I think I just saw it at the right time as it’s already sold out. :(
Betsi 08.19.2016
I just ordered the lotion and am VERY tempted by the sweatshirt!
Holly K 08.19.2016
Those pink leggings! Alllll the heart eyes. Also, I just scored a GIANT bag of Hi-Chews at COSTCO last weekend. I’ve since had to hide the bag from myself, so good!
Kristin 08.19.2016
Ohhhh no, I don’t think I wanted to know that Costco sells them!! ?
suzanne 08.19.2016
Scrub Daddy! It’s seriously the BEST. Shark Tank featured it and then my sister gifted one to me. Besides making me smile while doing dishes, it really works. Seriously. https://www.amazon.com/Scrub-Daddy-Color-Sponge-Pack/dp/B00PHH3HVK/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1471618753&sr=1-2&keywords=scrub+daddy
Kristin 08.19.2016
I saw that episode – too funny!
Cari 08.19.2016
Gah! I need that sweatshirt. Story of my life.
Julie 08.19.2016
The last fun thing I bought is a new car today!!! :) I’ve had my eye on that Halo Top ice cream… didn’t realize Hy-Vee has it! I will have to grab some. Thx for the tip!
Kristin 08.19.2016
Ahh, TOTALLY fun! Congrats, Julie!
Noelle 08.19.2016
I wanted to try Halo Top so badly, but it’s $6 a pint around here. Womp womp.
Kristin 08.19.2016
Same (I think $5.29?) For an occasional splurge it was totally worth it!
Sara 08.19.2016
I bought these pants after seeing an ad on facebook-they look so comfy and perfect for our beach trip!! Can’t wait to try them on.
Kristin 08.19.2016
Perfect beach pants! Where you guys heading?
Sara 08.23.2016
The Dominican Republic! Staying at the Hard Rock resort-never been and so excited!
Kristin 08.23.2016
I’ve heard that’s a fun one – have a blast!!
Melanie 08.24.2016
We just got back from the Hard Rock Vallarta and it was FABULOUS!!! I hope you love it!
H 08.19.2016
I’m raising my hand because I’m always freaking cold! What flavor coffee pods did you get? There are so many options!
Kristin 08.19.2016
I know! I REALLY wanted the caramel brownie, but went with Cinnamon Sugar Cookie and Kona blend. The Kona blend is what I was sent and it’s soooo smooth.
Ashley 08.19.2016
Try to the Toasted Southern Pecan. I tried it for the first time about a decade ago(!), and ended up getting my mom hooked on it to the point that she would order it in 4 pound bags directly from Cameron’s and hunt for it on every trip to the Twin Cities. (They’re based in Shakopee.) The mailman loved it when she ordered it because it smelled so amazing! I can’t drink flavored coffee anymore, but it is pretty heavenly.
Jennifer K 08.19.2016
Just ordered some Cameron’s tea pods! Thanks for the rec! And I will for sure be hitting up HyVee when I’m done with my Whole 30 to check out this Halo ice cream. Sounds divine.
The last fun thing I bought – other than the tea pods two minutes ago – was some stamps and inks. I like to make cards – it’s my therapeutic outlet.
Kristin 08.19.2016
I collected stamps, ink, and embossing powder when I was young, so I totally get that! Recently got Lincoln a little stamp kit and he loves it!
Celia at Chicago Jogger 08.19.2016
Ooh, I put my Keurig away last year for the same reason (plastic)! I’m excited to see there is a pod available that’s compostable without plastic. I might dig her out of the basement after all!
Morgan 08.19.2016
I just had my second child and I am going through the night sweats again. Ugh, as if getting up multiple times a night isn’t enough, when j do I am drenched. Not cool. And you are the only other person I have ever heard that has them too. Everyone looks at me like I’m gross and crazy. They really are the worst.
Kari 08.19.2016
Oh, I unfortunately belong to that night sweats club too!! After every kid!
Kristin 08.19.2016
THE. WORST. If you click on the “night sweat” (?) link you’ll see we are not alone!
Lesley 08.22.2016
I don’t know who is dreading the night sweats more this second time around – me or my husband. Ugh, they are THE WORST.

I recently purchased a plane ticket to Dublin and Paris with my friend! We’re going over Thanksgiving and I couldn’t be more excited!
Kristin 08.19.2016
Ummmm SO FUN!!!! The ultimate girl’s trip!
Ginny 08.19.2016
Love this post! For me it was definitely http://www.califiafarms.com/products/almondmilk All of their products are carrageenan and gluten free! Found the unsweetened at Target and loving it!
Kristin 08.19.2016
LOVE Califia Farms’ products! I recently dropped their XX Espresso drink right after purchasing it in the check out line and was so sad that they went and got another one for me. ? #truefan
