Wow – I stepped outside the door for my morning Mom walk at 5:30am and swore that was 10:30am! It has gotten to be SO light out in the mornings. I just love being able to see all the pretty, blooming lilac bushes and, ohhh, my Mom’s face when we walk. It’s nice!
I was actually starving for breakfast today, and am taking it on the go – Kashi Honey Almond Flax Cereal with Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze and a Banana!
I was talking with my cousin and friends this past weekend in Chicago about how much we all love unsweetened vanilla almond breeze. I don’t drink it from a glass like regular cow’s milk – although many do – but my favorite way to enjoy it is ice cold, over some cereal. IT IS SO GOOD.
I know I said I wouldn’t bring this particular cereal to work anymore because it is SO DARN CRUNCHY, but I’m hoping that the almond milk will soften it,
and the banana I plan to slice in there will help muffle the sound. Am I the only one who thinks about things like this?!
I love this cereal so much, I ate it as my dessert last night instead of the Ben & Jerry’s Peanut Brittle Ice Cream!
I’ve got leftovers for lunch!
Yeah…Ben refused to go meatless two dinners a row, so he got himself two, large pepperoni pizzas from Little Ceasars last night for $5.
He got his meat, and I got Un-Egg Casserole leftovers! Win/Win.
A crunchy Pink Lady Apple + Roasted Crunchy Flaxseed Almond Butter rounds it all out.
I definitely had multi spoonfuls of this almond butter last night as I was packing my lunch. Guilty!
In other news, I wanted to share with you three, free web tools that I use on a regular basis. Hopefully, you’ll find (or currently find!) them useful!
1. Plot Your Run/Walk/Bike Route
Last night, a reader asked me how I know how far I run, since I don’t use a garmin or anything like that. I’ve posted this before, but wanted to show you again – I use the Livestrong.com Plot Your Run tool. With this tool, you can plot your run, walk, bike route, etc by following roads or highways. If you mostly run on trails, like me, you can click the “Satellite” button and unclick the “Use Streets” button to track your non-main road paths. You can also plug in your weight and how fast you run to see approximately how many calories you’ve burned!
2. Create a Recipe
Sometimes when I want to know how many calories are in a recipe I’m creating, or making, I like to use the Recipe Builder tool, also on Livestrong.com. With this tool, you add the ingredients the recipe calls for (it’ll give you specific brand names to choose from too!), the quantity and how many servings it makes. Hit submit and you’ll get a full nutritional profile for your recipe. It’s awesome!!
3. Manage Your Money
Mint.com is a FABULOUS, free website where you can securely link all your savings, 401K, checking, loan and budget information all in place to give you a complete view of what your finances look like at any given moment in time. It categorizes your purchases to show you how much you spend on gas, groceries, restaurants, etc, and even has an alert system setup to notify you of unusual purchases or when you’re close to going over budget. Life saver!
Just wanted to share a couple things that I use everyday that I thought you’d enjoy!
Happy Hump Day!
