Hey, hey everybody.
Kind of a surreal, unbelievable day, what with everything that’s unfolded in Boston overnight. An entire city on lock down? How is this happening? I didn’t find out about the suspects until I got to the news studio very early this morning where, obviously, last night’s events took precedence over my segment on make-ahead breakfast ideas. We taped the segment so it will play on Monday morning, if you care to tune in.
After hanging out and listening to the story unfold, I headed home, making a quick pit-stop at Dunkin’ Donuts to pick up a Friday treat for Ben and myself. We finally got a DD last year but this was actually my first time visiting the location. I know. WHAT is my problem? A few chocolate munchkins and a decaf French Vanilla coffee is a good reminder to get back a little more often. ;)
Hopefully this week’s Friday Favorites will provide a brief respite in the news, but Bostonians, please know that the whole country is thinking and praying for you. Stay safe, and sit tight!

Favorite sweet: No-Bake Peanut Butter S’mores Bars. Clearly, very few words are needed to express my deep gratitude for this recipe, but I do just love the fact that these bars are no-bake (in addition to everything else!)
Favorite travel: 21 Roads to Drive Before You Die. Some harrowing, some breathtaking, all awesome. Really worth a look (and a drive!)
Favorite sip: Turks and Caicos Rum Punch. Oh. mah. gah. Right? How sweet and refreshing does this look?
Favorite DIY: Mosaic Tile Bathroom Mirror. I think this is such a neat look, plus I’m always seeing really nice tiles on sale at the hardware store. Which begs the question – why am I always at the hardware store?
Favorite dip: Creamy Salsa Verde. Part salsa verde, part guacamole, completely awesome.
Favorite furballs. BEST FWENDS FOREVER?!?! Right.
Favorite swoop: Key Lime Pie Ice Cream. This ice cream looks so decadent – almost custardy. Love the crunchy, crumbly topping, too.
Favorite photo. My parents got Ben and me some tulips to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary a few weeks ago and they just seriously brightened my entire week. I always forget about tulips, but they really are so beautiful. Great gifting flowers!
Favorite mmm: Ginger Garlic Chili Shrimp. How mouthwatering do these look? Great over rice or a salad, or stuffed into tacos. Yum.
Favorite fitness: Arms & Core Workout. Add some squats with the curls and lateral raises and you’ve got yourself one awesome workout.
Favorite treat: Butterscotch White Chocolate Wonderful Krispie Treats. Everybody’s favorite sweet treat, on ‘roids! Plus there’s only 3 ingredients!
Favorite find: Hacienda Melamine Plate. Forget eating off these babies, I think they’d look gorgeous displayed on a wall. Thoughts?
Favorite bite: Grilled Cheese with Chicken, Cheddar, and Grapes. As the blogger behind this ‘wich says – it’s like a broiled cheese plate. Brilliant!
Have a happy, and safe weekend everyone. :)

When I looked at the link for the 21 Roads to Drive Before You Die and got to #2 – Furka Pass, Switzerland, I was thinking that Stelvio Pass (Italy) should be on that list. Then I scrolled down a bit further and found that it is on that list! I rode Stelvio Pass on motorcycle back in 2004. It was amazing! Of course, the Million Dollar Highway here in Colorado is beautiful too, just in a different way. :)

So sorry, but your post was in such poor taste of whatever in Boston is going through. Should should have made it short and sweet, and stopped with all the extra junk. I try to check in to your blog once/month or so, but might have to reconsider. :(

Milly, I’m just curious as to where you live? As someone who lives in Boston, I truly welcomed the diversion from all that was going on. Life does not have to stop. Kristin acknowledged what was going on and that was all that was needed.

Do you have a link for your appearance on KCCI this morning?

That bridge picture! So breath-taking but I think someone else would need to drive so that way I could just look out the windows!

Those peanut butter bars look amazing. Love the photo of that road as well as the one of those beautiful tulips :)

Does anyone else see that one of those roads is missing a section over the water???? FREAKY!

Going to Dunkin is so appropriate to show your support for Boston! It’s practically a religion the way people in MA are about our coffee!!

Hacienda plates and grape grilled cheese. Sign. Me. Up.
Mandy 04.20.2013
That grilled cheese looks just amazing. Is 10 AM too early for grilled cheese?
