[NEW on the Family Channel – My Mommy Mind: 18 Month Update >]
Hidy ho my favorite people!
This week absolutely flew by thanks to a few fun evenings out on the town. On Tuesday I went to a great local social media event, then Wednesday I had drinks and apps with a girlfriend after work. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, girl time feeds the soul like nothing else. This week was a good reminder to peel off my semi-permanently-attached slippers and GET OUT THERE!
Another highlight from the week? Absolutely slaying a batch of hard-boiled eggs. I like to keep HBE in the fridge because they’re so easy to eat when I need a quick, healthy snack or something to tide me over until dinnertime but, let’s be real, they’re a pain in the buns to peel. Lately I’ve been having terrible luck with losing half the egg in the peeling process but this time I hardly lost a drop (and no idea why.) So much win!
What is my life coming to when I get this excited about eggs? You know what, don’t answer that. :)
Anyway, nothing specific on tap for the weekend – it’s supposed to finally warm up from the negative temps we’ve been having so probably lots of snow and sled time for Mr. Lincoln who, in case you missed it, turned 18 months old this week! G-A-S-P.
Well wherever you are and whatever you do have a wonderful weekend and in the meantime please enjoy my favorite finds from around the web and beyond in this week’s Friday Favorites!

Favorite sip: The Best Coconut Margarita Recipe. It’s always around this time of year, when the snow and cold temps are just relentless, that I start dreaming of a tropical getaway. Although my suitcase is empty, my shopping list is about to fill up with the ingredients to make these tropical-inspired margs from Heidi @ Foodie Crush. Beachy bliss.
Favorite DIY: Rustic Crate How To. I had just decided to put a long flower box on my entryway table that I was having trouble styling a few weeks back, when I stumbled upon this how to post! I will for sure give you an update if I decided to give it a go, otherwise I’ve found some pretty sweet ones on Etsy, too.
Favorite fresh: Cauliflower Rice Lettuce Cups with Siracha Peanut Sauce. Told you cauliflower was having a moment. ;) Love this fresh and healthy Thai-inspired lettuce wrap recipe. Can’t wait to give it a try.
Favorite maybe? Whole 30. Whole 30 has exploded over the last couple of years and I’ve been toying around with the idea of doing it since last summer. That said I don’t know what it would look like for IGE. 30 days of my Whole 30 eats in a food diary-type format (for you OG readers, it would be more like the first two years of the blog) + Whole 30-friendly recipes? Does anybody have any thoughts on this? Love it? Hate it and would stop reading for a month? Don’t care either way? I want to do it for my health, and I know that trumps everything in life, but I also realize it could be strange and risky to change the course of my blog for a whole month… Hmm.
Favorite find: Favorite Sources: Decorative Objects. I feel like decorating the house is not only hard because well, it’s FREAKING HARD, but also because it feels like I see the same things at the same stores over and over and over again. That said I was pumped to find this enormous roundup from Teal & Lime on all the different places you can find fun, unique, and interesting decor for any style.
Favorite snack: Pizza Kale Chips. Yuuuuup.
Favorite decor: How To Make a Small Room Look Bigger. This setup is amazing!! It’d be perfect for our formal living room where we have uh, nothing on the walls. Now to find an enormous mirror that doesn’t cost a gazillion dollars.
Favorite flashback: THE GANG IS BACK!!! Best 8 minutes of my life spent watching this video. Wait for Jesse’s face at 4:28. I’m still dying. Someone needs to create a meme stat.
Favorite dinner: Easy Chicken Breasts with Creamy Mushroom Sauce. Another winner from Heidi @ Foodie Crush! Simple. Quick. Satisfying. Also, mushrooms. :)
Favorite reminder. Ugh, most amazing thing I’ve read in a long time.
Favorite treat: Yogurt Tart with Oat Crust. Is it breakfast? Dessert? Who cares – this tart looks delicious!
Favorite natural: All-Purpose Healing Stick. I’ve mentioned a few times here on IGE that I’ve dabbled in essential oils over the past year and a half, so the combo of oils in this all-purpose stick intrigues me for using on everything from blemishes to bug bites. Totally trying it out. My Mom used a combo of oils (of course right now I forget which ones) as bug repellent last summer that she swore by.
Favorite Etsy: 12 Bottle High Capacity Wine Rack. Isn’t this an amazing wine rack? I especially like the big bolt details at the top and bottom.
Favorite remix: Chicken Enchilada Stuffed Zucchini Boats. My Pinterest feed has been blowing up with delicious looking Mexican recipes lately and these caught my eye for being decadent yet healthy at the same time. Mouthwatering!
Favorite fashion: Striped Pareo. I started with a vacation-inspired find and I’ll end with one too. Isn’t this bathing suit cover up adorable?? I love how it’s shorter in the front and looks like it could be easily tailored for any height (it’s a one size pareo. And don’t think I knew what a pareo meant until I Googled that ‘ish before writing about it here.) :)

Definitely do a whole 30!!! I am almost done with my first one and I LOVE it! I feel great! I am going to keep going with this way of eating for sure! And since I love your blog and all your recipes I would LOVE any whole 30 recipes you came up with!!
Kristina 02.06.2015
I’m curious about Whole30 and would absolutely keep reading!
On a side note, still waiting for that Hashbrown Breakfast Pizza recipe… :)
Kristin 02.06.2015
Good memory! It’s actually coming next week! :)
Rachel Cooks 02.06.2015
Thanks for including me in this! I didn’t know what a pareo was until 30 seconds ago and all of a sudden I need one. :)
Jessi Meyer 02.06.2015
Love the idea of whole30 recipes. We did our first one last summer, and I’m thinking about having our family do another soon. We felt great doing it, and I’d love more recipe ideas!
Lisa 02.06.2015
NO! NO WHOLE30. BLOG. SUICIDE. Everyone is doing it. so annoying!! haha
Kristen 02.06.2015
Yes! I’ve done a Whole 30 before and have considered doing it again. Would love to see your Whole 30-approved recipes!
Megan 02.06.2015
i am not a fan of the whole30 idea, but clearly I’m the minority! I feel like it’s one more thing for people to compete with each other about. One of my favorite reasons for reading your blog is that it’s all about moderation, and you don’t impose your own food-rules onto your readers. You always have great recipes, and I love your writing style, so I will continue to read regardless. :)
Katie C. 02.06.2015
Whole30 – yes please! I loved your old format and I would love to follow along!
Alison 02.06.2015
I am another one in favor of you doing the Whole30 and sharing your recipes. I just finished my first one and totally drank the Whole30 Kool-Aid;) it’s actually really similar to what you currently do, with a few exceptions. I’m finding that I’m not craving the non compliant food as much as I had thought I would- with the exception of chocolate! Do whatever you feel is best and your loyal blog fans will continue to read either way! Happy weekend!

Also, check your Costco to see if they have prepared HBEs. Mine, in WA, carries peeled ones in with raw ones, it’s been a real game changer!
Jenn 02.06.2015
Please do a Whole 30 series! I tried to do it last year and gave up because I got really tired of eating eggs… New recipes would help so much!
Julie 02.06.2015
Add me to the Whole 30 bandwagon! Looking forward to reading about your experience. :)
JennP 02.06.2015
Whole 30… YES! I’ve been reading since ’09. A month of food-diary would be a fun throwback ;)
Trang 02.06.2015
I love your blog, it’s probably one of the best blogs that I’m following. Great easy recipes, lovely stories and many useful tips. Keep it up !
Kerri 02.06.2015
I would love to read about your Whole 30 experience and see some recipes. I have been toying with the idea as well but lack of a variety of things to eat is my problem. Also, I loved the style of your blog the first two years and would love to see more of that again. That said, I also love your blog now!
danielle 02.06.2015
I love the idea of whole 30! I say go for it! It’s only a month :)
Sarah 02.06.2015
Personally, I think Whole30 sounds like yet another viral yet non-sustainable fad diet/cleanse… I much prefer a 100 Days of Real Food approach to realistic healthy eating, and I think recipes along those lines would be much more appealing to a broader audience. :) That said, I’ve been following your blog since 2009 (holy cow) and definitely wouldn’t give up on you if that’s what you want to do!

Kristin, you have got to see this vintage farmhouse decor that my daughter and I have been buying from. Cute, things! They send you a new “steal” everyday. Super low shipping too. LOVE IT!! It’s called Decor Steals. Also on the eggs, try boiling for ten minutes then put them in an ice bath with salt. They cool fast and peel super easy. Could you please ask your mom what oils she used? I am so allergic to the bug sprays! Here in Texas it will be bug time soon!

We just started the Whole 30 a few days ago! I would love to see more recipes! :)
Sara 02.06.2015
try adding a splash of vinegar to the water that you boil the eggs in. makes them a lot easier to peel.
AmyW 02.06.2015
Yes, to Whole 30! I just finished my first one this week and would love to see it on your blog!
