Happy Friday, everyone!
Woo this week seemed to just fly by, didn’t it? Lots to do to keep me busy, but hopefully this weekend should be nice and relaxing. Yesterday I realized that the downtown summer Farmers’ Market starts in four Saturdays from now. FOUR SATURDAYS!! I can hardly contain my excitement. The first month or so won’t yield too much, as this spring has been so darn cold, but I’m excited to get back into my summer routine of getting up early every Saturday morning and heading down with my Mom.
Too. much. fun. plus, Pupusas!!
Anyways, I hope you’ve got some fun penciled into your calendar this weekend and in the meantime, please enjoy my favorite finds from around the web in this week’s Friday Favorites!

Favorite sweet: Carrot Cake. In a world of crazy, re-invented desserts, sometimes the classics are the most satisfying. This carrot cake looks dense, moist, raisin-free, and OH that cream cheese frosting!
Favorite fashion: Lilly Pulitzer Vinita Dress. Isn’t this the cutest little sundress? Perfect for a day at the beach. Loving all of Lilly Pulitzer’s dresses right now, as they’re super southern-belle. ;)
Favorite idea: Spicy Hoisin Sesame Glazed Corn. While I love simply grilled corn on the cob, sometimes it’s fun to give it a little zing.
Favorite feature: Wood-Planked Porch Ceiling. Ben and I became obsessed (obsessed!) with the long and narrow porches attached to most homes in downtown Charleston, decorated with a rocking chair or two, and lazily spinning fan. What a cool, unique feature to line the ceiling of the porch with wood though. Looks awesome.
Favorite slurp: Chipotle Chicken & Rice Soup. Doesn’t this photo make you want to dive into your computer screen for a bite? YUM.
Favorite funny: Spinning Hawaiian Monk Seal. I have no idea why this is so funny, but the longer you watch, the funnier it gets. BAHAHA.
Favorite bling: Kate Spade Idiom Pendant Necklace. I saw these at the Kate Spade store in Charleston and was this close to pulling the trigger, but didn’t for some reason and am now, of course, kicking myself for it. The shiny, colored-circle pendants are simple, classy and cute. Plus they all have different little sayings on the back – hello sunshine on the yellow, make a splash on the blue. Fun!
Favorite lick: Strawberry Angel Food Ice Cream. Can’t go wrong with cake, fruit and homemade ice cream!
Favorite woah: Once in a Lifetime Shots. I’ve seen a bunch of these slideshows before, but this one is pretty cool and includes a flock of flamingos in the shape of, wait for it, a flamingo!
Favorite fix: Rice & Bean Casserole with Guacamole. I looove, love, love skillet suppers made with rice, and this combo – especially with the thwap of guacamole on top – looks really cozy and comforting.
Favorite gift: Hand-Stamped Gold Disc Charm. Wouldn’t this be a cute Mother’s Day gift? A chain with the first initial of all her children looped through?
Favorite finger food: Cucumber Burrata Sandwiches. I made these babies for BHG.com’s blog Delish Dish, to make for the upcoming baby/bridal shower season. They are simple and SO good. Perfectly light finger food for parties.
Favorite place: Manhattan. I’ve been craving a trip to New York lately and trying to think of a way to fit a quick, 3-day trip in before I’m cut off from air travel. Doesn’t look like it’s going to happen though. Oh well, there’s always next year. New York in the spring time is glorious!
Favorite breakfast: Banana Bread French Toast. Banana bread pancakes I’ve heard of, but french toast?! Come to mama!
Favorite furball. Call me crazy (go ahead, we’ll wait) but I have always thought dog noses and mouths are so CUTE! Right?! Awww. :)
Favorite bite: Cauliflower Bites with Cheddar-Mustard Dipping Sauce. Roasted cauliflower is my favorite, favorite, favorites, and they look even better with a light and crunchy coating. Gotta try this.
Favorite find: Balloon Dipped Jars. This is SO clever, you guys. Snip the top and bottom off a balloon then snap them onto mason jars to keep drinks separate at a party or something. What a fun look!
Favorite bite: Pineapple No-Bake Cheesecake. These would also be perfect for party season coming up. Made with fresh pineapple, I can only imagine how yummy and fresh these must taste.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend! :)
[…] in addition to the elegant Cucumber Burrata Sandwhiches I shared last week, these easy Spanakopita Bites are, well, easy and perfect to serve at a baby or […]
Hey!
Huge thank you for the hand stamped necklace idea…I totally won Mother’s Day giving Missy one of these (in silver)! She loves it, and the hand stamped letters of the girls names on hand formed silver discs have a very rustic appeal that she loved. Score. Just thought I’d let you know…thanks again :-D
Ahh, that’s so great! I bet it’s so pretty!
I love dog noses too!!!!
P.S. Some of these ideas will be perfect for a baby shower coming up next month. Carrot cake, cucumber sandwiches…so spring-y and light! Thanks for posting!
Nope. You’re not crazy. Puppy noses are the best. And so are those balloon “dipped” jars!
hahaha.. how cute is the dogs nose in the middle of the food pics! He can smell how good the dishes are, even online! Thanks for sharing these items :)
I love this blog…….now who won the Whole Foods gift card?
Carrot cake is by far my absolute favourite :)
Those Kate spade necklaces look awesome I so want one now.
I also think dog noses and mouths are too cute.
I have the exact stamped initial necklace you featured (mine is silver) from Etsy. I get tons of compliments and the seller was excellent to work with. Really affordable, too.
THat picture of New York is so cool! I have never been there and have always wanted to go! I hope you get there soon!
I’ve only been to Manhattan/New York once but I absolutely loved it – wish it wasnt so far away! That picture is amazing though; central park looks unreal! Such a beautiful place.
I loooooove your Friday favourites!!! By the way yesterday I made your BBQ ribs for my son and I to have for lunch and OMG!!! Delicious. I love your recipes. It’s really nice waking up in the morning (I live in UK), download my e-mails onto my mobile and read yours while everyone sleeps… It’s becoming a habit.
love everything in your list! :)
I saw that angel food cake icecream cone on Pinterest. I so wish I could create this without an ice cream maker…I think a little store bought cheat vanilla is happening soon!!
As a fellow Iowan, you KNOW I am loving the sound of that corn recipe! It looks so tasty :).
I love your “Friday “Favorites!”
Strawberry Angel Food Ice Cream…want want want want want.
