Happy Friday everyone! This week we were brought back down to reality as temps went from soaring to 80+ degrees last weekend, to more seasonal appropriate highs in the 60s. Eek! Me thinks there’s no looking back at this point. Are you ready? Ben and I are getting our chimney cleaned this weekend so we can build glorious roaring fires when the time comes.
Chilly temps aside, here are my favorite finds from around the web this week!
Favorite feel-good photo. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Favorite salad: Arugula, Mango, Macadamia Nut & Avocado Salad. This looks divine, and juicy!
Favorite find: Clinique Acne Solutions Spot Healing Gel. I’ve told you guys about this stuff before, but it’s worth mentioning again. A bottle lasts FOREVER since you only need a tiny bit, and it works so quick.
Favorite brunch: Jalapeno Popper Quiche. Doesn’t this look heavenly?
Favorite DIY project: Magazine rack/mail sorter. Grab a couple of wood brackets from the hardware store, wood glue and a can of spray paint. Voila!
Favorite dress. Pink? Check. Sparkles? Check. Now can someone just lend me $1100??
Oh! Plus $895 for the shoes to go with. Sheesh! ;)
Favorite front door. This feel like the outside of the Blair House in DC. Cozy. :)
Favorite sneak peek treat: Gingerbread Truffles. Sorry, I had to! I know it’s not even Halloween yet, but if I don’t share some of the awesome Christmasy stuff I’ve found on the web so far, I’ll explode!
Favorite funny. I don’t know why, but I’ve been laughing at this picture for days. Ben think I’m nuts.
Favorite outfit. I have this dress in blue – now I just need those adorable boots.
Favorite party bite: Prosciutto & Frig Crostini. I am obsessed with prosciutto AND fig jam. Put them together on toasted bread? Done. :)
Favorite yummy scent. Try simmering these mouthwatering combos on your stove to make your entire house smell spectacular!
Favorite trip: Southern Utah National Parks Tour. This 12 day itinerary includes a stop in Zion National Park, which I am just dying to see.
Favorite photo. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to grow up in the deep south. I have a feeling this tree and swing would be heavily involved.
Favorite bite: Cake Batter Truffles. You don’t know how much willpower it is taking to not make these!
Favorite simple statement: Droplet necklace. GOSH I LOVE THIS!
Favorite dip: White Trash Dip. I’d make this for the name alone – bahaha!
Favorite look. Sigh…
Favorite baking finds: I’ve been on a massive seasonal baking kick recently (more so wanting to bake, than actually baking…) Here are the items on my GOT to make list! Apple Fritter Muffins
100 Calorie Pumpkin Pie Tartlets
Caramel Stuffed Apple Cider Cookies
Have a great weekend everyone!

What are some of your favorites from around the web this week?
Love you added Foster the People, I love that group too. Its great to listen to while baking, cooking etc. in the kitchen. Puts me in such a good mood! Thanks for sharing!
I love Friday Favorites! I just started using the Clinique acne products last month and am loving them, I tried a sample pack from Sephora and you’re right – even the sample size of the gel is going to last forever!
Great Friday roundup! Thanks for including our Pumpkin Gingersnaps! Have a great weekend!
Awesome stuff! The gingerbread and cake truffles reminded me of a killer treat I had at the World Food Festival. Have you had cake balls yet? Seriously to die for. They’re at Bekkwith’s Bakery in Ankeny. Must. Try!
I made the caramel stuffed apple cider cookies last week and they were HEAVENLY. I gave them to many friends/family since they made 4 dozen (!) but everyone raved about them. Will definitely make again someday, but still have some other seasonal recipes to try. Those pumpkin pie tartlets might be next on the list!
Thanks for all the link love. That salad sounds mouthgasmic – mmm!
I love every single one of these things. I am SO making those pumpkin gingersnaps tonight!
Have a wonderful weekend!
PS-Are those Boots Frye? If so, I have them and they were (are?) on sale at Nordies!
gee whiz all the food stuff looks and sounds WONDERFUL! i’ve been craving pumpkin bars piled high w/cream cheese frosting. i do have my moms recipe, maybe i will make some for Girls Nite Out. Foodiku~where is this bakery at in Ankeny???
I have been reading your blog for a few months now and I have to tell you how much I enjoy it. I look forward to seeing the recipes you post they all look so yummy!
I want to make those pumpkin pie tartlets!
All of the recipes look yummy. I nearly died laughing when I saw that cat picture though…my kitty jumps on my kitchen table all of the time, even though he know’s he not supposed to be up there. I yell at him “off the table”, and though he doesn’t talk back, he usually rolls over onto his back and stretches, as if to say “yeah, whatever lady”. Thanks for the Friday laughs :)
I love Foster the People!
Have you listened to their Tiny Desk Concert? It’s awesome!

Thanks for your blog!
I made that quiche a couple weeks ago and can vouch for its deliciousness! Also that sparkly pink dress is TO DIE. Whyyyy oh why can’t I have a celebrity budget? (And um…body, so as to pull off that dress. lol!)
Ah I loved this whole post it was just what I needed! I can’t stop laughing at the dog and cat photos hahaha
But I probably shouldn’t have looked at all the delicious goodies before going to the gym…now all I want to do is stay in the warm house and make cake batter balls! YUM
I don’t know how you do it, but I just experienced so many different emotions while reading this post. First, I nearly peed laughing at the first photo (fantastic, and probably TMI?). Next, my jaw dropped at the super-expensive outfit, and finally, the truffles. Ohhh, the trufflesssssss.
I think that’s ’nuff said. Have a great weekend! :D
I’ve just been loving your Friday favourites, I already can’t wait till next Friday!
So many favorite things on this favorite Fridays list…specifically the dress and the gingerbread truffles. Wherever do you find such marvelous things ;) Thanks a Friday fun bump!
That swing looks amazing!! That’s the kind of place I need to go on vacation. :)
white trash dip….how great!!
This is a great list of Friday favorites! I love the white trash dip!
i didn’t even look at the recipe for the white trash dip but already love it solely from that awesome name. your seasonal baking picks look fantastic!
Love love love this post. I clicked on about 10 of these links. I seriously think I need to make that DIY magazine holder. I love the fact that no nails are involved!
Great list today! And thanks for the introduction to the band!
Oh gosh! I got to see your favorite front door in person a few weeks ago. My sister, two nieces, and I toured Mary Carol and Dan Garrity’s house in Atchison, Kansas, and it was BEAUTIFUL! I took over 300 photos of the place.
I spotted those inside out caramel apples on the web too. Yum. I also like the looks of all the foods with pumpkin in them especially the pumpkin gingersnap cookies. I bet they make the house smell like autumn.
I like the cooler weather and am looking forward to a fire in the fireplace as well. Mmmmm, fire in the fireplace+pumpkin gingersnap cookies=fall perfection!

LOVE the dress, the shoes, the truffles!!!
Weird question, is it just me, or is that Foster the People song about a school shooting? I mean, it’s really catchy, but the lyrics are questionable . . .
Yeah Pumped Up Kicks is… :/
This is from spinner.com. It’s an interview that the singer gave to them. The article was written by Mercy Heimbach. It’s not about a specific event that occurred.
[‘Pumped Up Kicks’ is about a kid that basically is losing his mind and is plotting revenge. He’s an outcast. I feel like the youth in our culture are becoming more and more isolated. It’s kind of an epidemic. Instead of writing about victims and some tragedy, I wanted to get into the killer’s mind, like Truman Capote did in ‘In Cold Blood.’ I love to write about characters. That’s my style. I really like to get inside the heads of other people and try to walk in their shoes.]
I am loving the magazine holder idea! How clever. not to mention super cute!
I’m needing both varieties of those truffles….like yesterday!!!! Cake batter truffles?! OMG, yes, please!
thank you for this. I feel like you must put so much work into these posts each week. foster the people rocks and I’m now listening to the album on repeat at work!!
Finally commenting on your blog even though I’ve been reading for a few months now– only to say my team is taking on yours tomorrow & hopefully history repeats itself ;)
HEY NOW!!! ;)
I am pretty sure Foster The People are on Ellen today!
You NEED to go to Zion sometime. It’s spectacular! We passed through one summer and were only there for an afternoon, but we loved it! We hiked The Narrows and it was one of the coolest things I have done in my entire life.
I want to get out my sewing machine (after learning a few things!) and sew everything that is on Pinterest!
Have a great weekend and GO HAWKS!!
I have that dress in rust (or orange … tomAto tomato). And I’ve been applying the zit balm for a week now. Used to work there in college and am a HUGE advocate. The end.
the dress, is GORGEOUS!
and i must make (attempt) that magazine rack/mail sorter! what a genious idea!!!
That picture of the cat is hilarious!! I’m laughing, too.
My web favorites this week both come from Sleep Talkin’ Man (http://sleeptalkinman.blogspot.com/):
“I’m gonna need about five more arms, three eyes, and an eighth more brain. Yeah. And then I’ll be a one-man X-Box ninja fighting army! Bring it on, bitches!” (10-13-11)
AND
“Oh no. It looks like we’ve got one of those Play-Doh homicides. Poor little fellow never stood a chance against THE MALLET. Call in the clear-up team, this one’s a little messy.” (10-12-11)
Oh my goodness, SO many tasty looking treats! It’s definitely baking season. :)
The boots that you showed with the dress you said you had are MIA brand, I think. I just bought them at younkers (which may still be on sale.) Here is the link: http://www.younkers.com/shop/shoes/boot-shop/low-heel/mia-pali-tall-riding-boot_426509.html
I LOVE mine!
We were just in Zion Natl Park last week – it is AMAZING!
I’ve come to enjoy your Friday Favorites….as it always sparks great ideas!
OMG those Jimmy Choos are TO-DIE-FOR!!! I have a very similar pair (not jimmy choo of course) in light brown and they are the perfect way to spruce up an outfit!! Also, if you love boots you should shop at endless.com they have a ridic variety of shoes..all sizes, styles, colors and, most importantly, budgets!! AND they ship for free!! I got hooked on it last year….best.thing.ever!
That dog is HILARIOUS. Love these posts and definitely your taste! And so obsessed with Foster the People :D
Hey Kristen, cute clothes….~
i made that jalapeno quiche before! it was delicious!
Oh, I just love the dress and the shoes! I mean, can a girl really go wrong with Jimmy Choos? And the door, gorgeous! I wish I lived there!
Your baked glazed doughnuts! I just made them for my weekend dessert. Delish!
Zion is such a beautiful place! Definitely hike the Narrows and gear up from the Zion Adventure Company. For a bigger challenge though hike Angel’s Landing! Getting up there is a workout and the view of the Valley is unbeatable! My husband and I from Chicago have been there twice in the last year!
I definitely want to make those cookies this weekend. I love your Friday favorites posts! You should make a tab / link so we can go back and reference them!
Good idea!
i dont even like cats and I thought that cat thing was SO funny!
xoxo from Trinidad
OMG I’m going on a baking spree today!!!! And those inside-out caramel apples look absolutely amazing :) I’m making them!
Hi Kristen!
Thanks for linking to my gingerbread truffles!! I”m not much of a photographer, unfortunately (I take all my blog pics on my phone). I love baking, but it’s really rare that I actually get a halfway nice pic of my food, so it makes me feel great when someone else is attracted by one of my pics! You culled many gorgeous photos on your site, I definitely have my eye on those apple fritter muffins, caramel cider cookies, and pumpkin cookies!!
Wow – you take your pictures with your phone?! That is amazing – they look so good!
Can you say OBSESSED with that outfit? So jeal. I need it! Also, I can’t get enough of Foster The People…what a great band! I’m currently listening to Helena Beat wayyy too much :-)

I love your Friday favourites, there are always things that I love and inspire me!
That mango and avocado salad looks delicious :-)
The yellow dress and boots are right up my street, I’ve been searching for boots like that for ages!
I love the photo too, I’ve always dreamed about having a big garden with gorgeous trees like that.
Seriously, everything on here is brilliant!
