Today is feeling particularly bright and shiny because I finally get to tell you about the project I’ve been working on over the past three months – I wrote an eBook!
Gluten-Free for Beginners: 30 Day Meal Plan and Guide for Gluten-Free Success is the non-human baby I’ve been giving all my extra time and attention to throughout the spring and summer, and I’m thrilled to tell you that it’s finally done and will be available for pre-order starting NOW!Â
Getting diagnosed with Celiac Disease six months after Lincoln was born was something I never expected in my wildest dreams. The last (nearly) two years have been filled with a lot of highs, and some really low lows adapting to a new lifestyle I knew nothing about, essentially overnight. I was sick for a really long time after my diagnosis, unknowingly slipping up and paying the price, but slowly I found my way in this gluten-free world and have come out on the other side.
Over the years I’ve had a lot of offers to write a print cookbook but they never felt quite right. Sure, I could write a book with 125 chicken recipes, but was that really going to make a difference in, or change someone’s life?
No.
Then I shared my Celiac Disease diagnosis story on the blog and the emails started pouring in. Everyone from the newly diagnosed, to people who tested negative for Celiac Disease but KNEW they had a gluten sensitivity, and even those whose spouses or children had just gotten diagnosed with Celiac Disease were all looking for help.
BINGO, I thought. All the trials and tribulations I’d gone through over the past two years, all the failures and successes – I’d put everything I’d learned about how to successfully live a gluten-free life for those who want or need to into an eBook. Gluten-Free for Beginners: 30 Day Meal Plan and Guide for Gluten-Free Success is the gluten-free resource guide I wish I’d had from day one!
I’m going to hold back right now, because my full (never, ever before told) story, plus all the details about what’s included in the eBook can be found on the Gluten-Free for Beginners: 30 Day Meal Plan and Guide for Gluten-Free Success Page >
A few items I want to mention real quick:
- Pre-sales of the eBook start Sunday, September 27 at 12:01am CT and end Tuesday, September 29 at 11:59pm CT. Sign up for my email newsletter list and receive an exclusive subscriber discount code good only during the pre-sales period.
- If you’re one of the first 25 people to pre-order the eBook you’ll receive a box of my favorite gluten-free goodies courtesy of Hy-Vee! I think a lot of people think eating gluten-free requires trips to specialty markets for weird and expensive ingredients. Totally not the case. I get all my gluten-free groceries right at the regular grocery store!
I’m so excited to help even one person navigate this often tricky life of eating gluten-free. If you or someone you know needs or wants to start eating gluten-free, I hope you’ll send them my way so I can help.
Again, click over to the Gluten-Free for Beginners: 30 Day Meal Plan and Guide for Gluten-Free Success page for all the details!

This is so exciting, Kristin! I’m not GF, but my sister-in-law was diagnosed with Celiac Disease about a year and a half ago. I’m always trying to learn more about it so that we can have plenty of safe options for her at family gatherings. I’m especially interested in the cross-contamination aspect. I’ll be getting the eBook and gifting at least one for sure!

Maria 09.21.2015
YAY! Congrats, Kristin!! I am such a huge fan of yours and your blog and cannot wait to dive into this book. We aren’t GF but several of our friends are and this will make it much easier for me to cook for them :D THANK YOU!
Kristin 09.21.2015
That is such a great, and VERY thoughtful idea, Maria. Your friends will appreciate it even more than you know!
Maria 09.21.2015
I hope so – I just had a thought! Will there be a way to “gift” this to someone? I would love to send it as a holiday/birthday present to at least one of our friends. Thank you again!
Kristin 09.21.2015
I was just thinking about that as I was responding. Let me do some digging as to if this is possible and get back to you!
Alli 09.21.2015
So exciting, Kristin!
I have to tell you that your blog was my introduction to the world of food blogging, and IGE is still one of my absolute favorites. (As a side note, I think I found your blog because my brother-in-law was in the same (national) fraternity as your hubby, and he heard about your blog and showed it to my sister and me. )
I have been reading your blog for years and I love it, but just this summer my son (6 yo) was diagnosed with Celiac and now your blog is such a great resource for our family. We have made our whole house GF for him, but it’s all still so new – I’m excited to get my hands on this book!
Congrats on the book deal!
(Oh, and since we live in Portland, we just visited the Bob’s Red Mill factory store and restaurant this weekend. My son loved it and we stocked up on some GF stuff and ate a nice GF brunch!)

Kristin 09.21.2015
I’m so sorry to hear about your son, Alli. I hope you are all adjusting well – I can’t imagine how tough it must be to go through that with a little one! (So cool you got to visit the BRM factory and store, by the way – I’m totally hitting them up when we get to Portland someday!)
Courtney 09.21.2015
I have been a fan of yours from the beginning, and I have to say, I could not be happier for you! I don’t need nor desire to go Gluten-Free, but will be ordering your book for any friends it may help out, just to support you. I’m sure the book will be wonderful, as you have continually been for so many years. Congratulations Kristen!
Kristin 09.21.2015
Thank you so much for your support, Courtney, it means the world to me that you’ve not only been a long-time reader, but are willing to help your friends out. Have a great week!
Anna @theposhbody 09.21.2015
Congratulations, Kristin! I’m a fellow celiac and can totally relate to your story.
I appreciate your sharing with us about the emotional side of your diagnosis and traumatic delivery with Lincoln… Isn’t it crazy how it’s always the one thing you could never predict that is the biggest challenge? I’m sure you were worried about a fussy baby not a diagnosis of a life long autoimmune condition!
With your permission, I’d love to share a link to your e-book when I write about celiac on my site.
If there’s a silver lining in a all of this it’s that your story will help so many other people! Thanks for sharing.
Anna
Kristin 09.21.2015
Absolutely, Anna! Thank you so much for believing in it/me enough to share with your readers. That means so much!
Brittany | Words Like Honeycomb 09.21.2015
So proud of you KRISTIN!!! I know what you mean, about needing that passion in order to create something meaningful and not just -another- cookbook. I certainly cant imagine all the hours you have invested and cant wait to see the success that will come from this :)
YOU GO GIRL!
Kristin 09.21.2015
Thanks Brittany, I am PUMPED!
Leigh Anne 09.21.2015
As one of those that emailed you for help (when my husband was diagnosed last November), I am so thrilled you did this! Your website is my “go to” now for gluten free recipes and, like you, we have come out the other side from the Celiac diagnosis. Your website was immensely helpful (and still is) in that transition so, yes, you did improve our lives and I can’t wait to see what else I can learn in your e-book. Congratulations! Can’t wait to order!
Kristin 09.21.2015
So glad Leigh Anne, I hope you are both doing well!!
Stephanie 09.21.2015
Congratulations, Kristin! This is so exciting! I have been a reader for quite some time and have pinned many of your recipes because they are quick, healthy and delicious (your homemade Hamburger Helper gets me every time!). I admire you for sharing your story and for creating a helpful resource for others. I cannot wait to check out your eBook!
Kristin 09.21.2015
Thanks for your support, Stephanie, it means a lot! :)
Lisa 09.21.2015
Well done Kristin!!! I’ve been reading and trying your recipes (GF and non-GF) for years – can’t wait to order your cookbook. Congrats!!!
Kristin 09.21.2015

Thanks so much, Katie!
P. Jeanne 09.21.2015
I’m so happy to hear you’ve come out with a cookbook!! I’ve pinned/made a lot of your recipes over the years and always find myself enjoying them :D I tested negative for Celiac, but know that I have a sensitivity to Gluten. I’ve always dealt with stomach issues, but it definitely got worse after having my son. It was difficult to find things I could eat at first, but things have gotten easier now that I have my staples. Can’t wait to purchase your book, CONGRATS!
Kristin 09.21.2015
So glad to hear things turned around for you, P Jeanne! Thank goodness these little babies are such treasures – it’s crazy what they can do to some women’s bodies!
Melissa 09.21.2015
Congrats on your cookbook! I’ve been such a fan of your recipes for the past couple years, so it’s exciting to see this!
Kristin 09.21.2015
Thank you so much, Melissa! Means a lot!
