Omg, thank you for this, it sounds sooo good! And it actually isn’t as splurgetastic as I would have thought. I wonder if you can make it in a cheesecake round to make it like a crustless pie? We are just not pie crust eaters in this house and would probably end up scooping out the center anyway

Ok i tweeted this but im going to tell you here too: a favorite coffee shop when i was in high school and college had a Kentucky sundae. It was this pie with ice cream and all the toppings… the funny thing was that it came up as KTNKY Sundae on the receipt and gained its nickname as the kinky sundae :)

[...] I also plan to make two desserts this weekend for my birthday. (i’m sorta just using my birthday as an excuse to make them). First is Break up bars. I found these because I read Carrots ‘n Cake quite often and Tina linked back to these bars that her friend made. They just look AMAZING to me! I can’t wait to try them. The second dessert I want to make is from Iowa Girl Eats. The recipe can be found here. [...]

I made this twice this weekend (2 different parties!). SOOOO good! However, we had a problem with the cook time or temperature …. the pie looked great after cooking 60 min at 325, but was cookie soup in the middle! We ended up cooking it for almost 2 hours to get it to set up. (The 2nd time, I was at another oven. We cranked the temp up to 375 and it was still soupy …). Would you mind double-checking the temp and cook time? Something is just not right — BUT, I will say, the final result was WELL worth the wait … BOTH times! =) THANK YOU! Your recipes are DELIGHTFUL!

I just checked the recipe again and it is indeed 325 degrees for 55-60 minutes. The cooking time may need to be adjusted for older ovens or different altitudes!

I’ve also made this twice now and had the same problem the first time. I fixed it yesterday by baking the pie crust first, then adding the cookie dough. It really helped. And it was delicious both times!

I, too, had to cook the pie longer than 60 minutes, but not too long after, maybe 1 hr. 10 minutes. Middle was still gooey, but it set nicely after a bit.

    It was DELICIOUS! Thank you!

I made this for my hubby and I yesterday as a Sunday afternoon treat – HOLY COW, SO GOOD! I had to send it with him to work today so I wouldn’t eat the whole thing. It was super easy to make and sure to please :D Thanks for the recipe!

I can’t wait to get home from school for the summer to make this, it looks awesome! Have you ever tried it with an oreo cookie crust instead of just a regular one? I was just thinking, if they’re both cookies…… :D

Do you need to defrost the pie shell first? Or put the filling directly into the frozen shell and then into the oven?

I’ve had pie in the over for an hour and 15 minutes and it is still “soupy”. My oven is a newer model and cooks everything else really well. I live in Kansas so no issues with altitude. Any tips on why the middle isn’t cooking?

    • Iowa Girl Eats 12.21.2011

I’m not sure! Sometimes ovens cook differently (for instance, my oven cooks “hot” so I always decrease cooking time.) Did it end up setting up?
