Happy Friday, everyone – TGIF!
This week I realized it was time to start a Lincoln-ism book, er, Evernote file. Li-ving in a digital world, and I am a digital girl. ? ( ⬅️ Look out, I found the emoji keyboard! ?)
Anyway, little man is using his imagination more than ever before and the things that are coming out of his mouth are a HOOT! (I realize it might only be a hoot to his mom and dad, but, indulge me for a moment.) Overheard this week:
“Apple juice tastes good on a hot day.” Sure does, buddy, though it’s currently just 1 degree outside.
(Drinking lemonade) “Apple juice…big exhale…SO good!” Indeed.
(Standing on two overturned toy bins) “I am a robot!” You can be anything you want to be, if you put your mind to it!
(Waking up from a nap) “Dada come get me, my body hurts.” (Starts humming Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.) I can’t even.
That is to say, we are having fun around here. ? 2-1/2 years, you keep us on our toes and a smile on our faces. (Psst: Homemade Blubber linked to from my last Friday Favorites was a huge hit!)
At any rate, we don’t have any plans for the weekend besides gearing up for Valentine’s Day! Crap, that reminds me, I still haven’t gotten Ben a gift! #storyofmylife What are you getting your person? I’ve over-gifted on the beer/whiskey/golf/Lodge cast iron pan fronts and need some new ideas. Help!
In the meantime, wherever you are and whatever you do have a wonderful weekend and please enjoy my favorite finds from around the web and beyond in this week’s Friday Favorites!
Favorite find: Poutine Potato Skins. BE STILL my poutine-loving heart!! If the boys and I can’t get into Louie’s Wine Dive for a poutine fix at some point this weekend, these are definitely happening in my kitchen.
Favorite valentine: Printing & Stamping. If you or your kids still need to make Valentines, here’s how we made Lincoln’s homemade ones. The post is written by my friend Chelsea, who is an art teacher and this project could. not. be. easier. Lincoln handed them out at his class party this week and they were a hit!
Favorite must-try: 3 Ingredient No Bake Peanut Butter Oat Squares. My sister-in-law brought these to family lunch last Sunday and they FLEW out of the pan. Ben ate a square with foil still stuck to the bottom because there was no time, apparently, to peel it off before the rest were eaten and he could get another. She topped hers with a drizzle of honey then topped with chocolate chips and a sprinkle of sea salt.
Favorite pairing: Apples and Bacon Salad with Maple Balsamic Vinaigrette. Everything about this salad screams YES! to me. Apples and bacon is the new peanut butter and jelly.
Favorite activity: Baking Soda and Vinegar Experiment. This toddler-friendly activity that calls for just distilled vinegar, baking soda, and food coloring has been the hit of a lifetime at our house! Lincoln has done it every single day this week for a MINIMUM of one hour each time. Just something to think about, Moms. AN HOUR. ??
Favorite sip: Pineapple Mimosa. Hello, Valentine’s Day cocktail. ❤️
Favorite gluten-free: Healthier Flourless Monster Cookies. A festive, flour-free treat for all my gluten-free Valentine’s Day cookie lovers! I love how these look so dense yet squishy.
Favorite heartbreak: Love Sucks: Heart Break Cake. For all my anti-Valentine’s Day for whatever reason people. Is this not the best?
Favorite fashion: Pizza Sweatshirt. I’m not sure I can get through the rest of the season that shall not be named without this sweatshirt. Plus, PIZZA!
Favorite must-have: Beef Vindaloo. Ben’s old roommate/forever bestie is Indian and we always had fun trying his authentic Indian dishes when they lived together way back in the day. This recipe for Beef Vindaloo is making my mouth water, and looks easy too.
Favorite accessory: Sailor’s Knot Bangle Bracelet. I pretty much only wear gold jewelry besides my wedding ring but have zero wrist accessories except for an enormous gold watch (this one, in case you’re wondering – it was a gift.) I adore the watch but it’s big, and this dainty bracelet would go with anything.
Favorite fresh: Pineapple Smoothie Bowl. Oh HECK yes! Caribbean vacation in an edible vessel. So down with this for so many reasons.
Favorite over the top: BBQ Havarti Burgers with Sweet Potato Curly Fries. YOU’RE WELCOME. ?

I’ve followed your recipes for several years and love how relatable and real you are. HOWEVER, you have made me feel like Mom of the Year the last two weeks with flubber and the baking soda/vinegar project. As a working mom, to come home and have a fun, easy project for us to do together is a real win. Thank you for sharing :)
Kristin 02.22.2016
Wohoo!! So glad they were a success – we are still loving both projects over here too!

Ah, 2 1/2 is such a lovely age :) Mine is 7 now, and while he still likes to think I was born at the time dinosaurs were around, I sometimes miss the cuteness of 2!
Thanks for putting the beef vindaloo in your favorites list. Hope you try it out!

This year for Valentine’s Day we ordered a steak dinner from the Fresh Market. They supply everything including chocolate covered strawberries and roses! We just pick it up and make it. I also am giving the hubs a 2 hour sunset cruise. We live in Florida so this will be a fun little break from reality.

That’s so funny that you have the poutine recipe on here today. We were in Canada last week and I had never heard of poutine. I wish we would have tried them, but the cheese curds scared us off!
Emily @ Life on Food 02.12.2016
Now I want some poutine bad!!!
Ellen @ My Uncommon Everyday 02.12.2016

Oh those Lincoln-isms! Yes, you must! I used to scribble down what my kids would say in their toddler years and I still write them down once in a while – it just gets better and better :) Thank you for sharing my Pineapple Smoothie Bowl – if I can’t take a vacation, it’s the next best thing. And those poutine potato skins are totally calling my name! Have an awesome Valentine’s weekend!

This year for VDay my fiance and I sprung for tickets to a comedy show of a duo that we both love. It feels like a special treat, but isn’t any more expensive or difficult just because it’s VDay. I also got him some Every Man Jack moisturizer, a pair of boxer trunks from MeUndies (OBSESSED) and some candy (because of course). Love the Friday Favorites!!!
Amy 02.12.2016

That sweatshirt is freaking awesome. Put it right next to my I still eat carbs sweatshirt!
Donna 02.12.2016
Love his little sayings! I think 2 1/2 is truly where I thought the fun began? We’re at 3 1/2 now and it’s crazy how much they change in that year and honestly, it’s even MORE fun (and hilarious!….and trying, as always???). Enjoy, doll!
Britt@MyOwnBalance 02.12.2016
I have that bracelet and love it!! I pair it with a sparkly thin bracelet and then a gigantic sparkly bracelet for nights out or just wear it on its own for day looks!
Kristin 02.15.2016
Ok good to know!!
