Throw another candle on the cake and a wrinkle in my brow – today’s my 28th birthday! Ahhh!! :D

Ben and I both took today off from work, so we continued the long weekend of fun last night by taking over my parent’s backyard – muwahahaha!

They were at a friend’s 4th of July party, and our tree-less backyard got crazy-hot after dinner, so we drove the few blocks up to their cool, shaded patio and setup shop.

We let them know we’d taken over their property via threatening text message: “We’ve commandeered your back deck. If you ever want to see your backyard again, we demand brownies (for her) and small batch whiskey (for him). No cops.”

To which they replied “There’s brownie mix in the pantry!” and “I think there’s cold Yuengling in the fridge – help yourself!” No, but…nevermind! ;)

Bob Marley playing softly on Pandora and an ice-cold Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy in hand was the perfect way to wind down the warm, holiday night. Ahhh, I just love summer so much!

Since Ben and I had the day off, we slept in this morning to a gloriously late hour, then got the birthday train rollin’…

starting with lunch at my favorite Thai restaurant in town – Cool Basil! :D

We went ahead and splurged on Crab Rangoon for a birthday appetizer.

Cool Basil’s CR are PLUMP and bursting with fresh, crab flavor. Sooo, so, so good.

Pad Thai is my favorite thing on their menu though, which is exactly what I ordered for my entree.

Chewy noodles, tender tofu and crunchy peanuts. MMM LOVE IT! :D

After lunch, we rolled ourselves over to the movie theater to take in a matinee showing of a movie I’ve been dying to see – Bad Teacher!

Bad Teacher was actually…bad. Really, really bad! Cameron Diaz played this really evil chick that never really had the “I’m a terrible person” epiphany, and the movie was kind of weird because of it.

That said, I still kind of hearted it for some reason. :) Jason Segel was hilarious!

Afterwards we stopped by my parents house to say hello, and found them chillin’ with Finn on the front porch. Love his mini tailgating chair – baller! ;)

He gave me lots of birthday love and shouted “Bye Kristin! Bye Ben!” before rushing off to the swing set with Grampy when we left. ;)

They say the way your upcoming year will turn out is determined by how you feel on your birthday. I feel young, happy and full of love. :)

Sounds good to me! :)

Here’s to turning 28 (and happy birthday to all you other July babies out there – goodness, there’s a lot of us!!) Off on a long walk to wrap up an incredible past couple of days. See ya’!
