Mediterranean Turkey Wrap takes just 5 minutes to make, is fresh, and a very filling lunch idea.
It’s time for another edition of the 5 Minute Lunch!
A 5 Minute Lunch is a meal that can be prepared in 5 minutes or less, stashed in a bag or cooler, and then eaten standing, sitting, or on the go later that afternoon. It’s gotta be quick, it’s gotta be convenient, and it’s gotta taste good, natch!
On a previous edition of the 5 Minute Lunch, we combined sliced deli turkey with salty pickles, creamy avocado, and protein-filled hummus in Turkey, Avocado & Hummus Wraps. Today we’re heading in the same general direction, but taking a slightly more exotic route with Mediterranean Turkey Wraps!
The inspiration for this wrap came from Ben, or rather, what he had for lunch earlier this week. As he described the soft wrap rolled with creamy hummus, deli turkey, kalamata olives, and fresh tomato, cucumber, and red onion, which he ordered with some co-workers at a local deli, my mouth started to water. That sounds awesome! I proclaimed, at the exact same moment he declared, IT WAS AWFUL.
My main man isn’t a huge fan of hummus you see, but had ordered it anyways because it was the “healthiest” thing he could find on the menu. God bless ’em!
I decided to recreate the wrap at home anyway because even if you don’t love hummus as much as I do, you can control the amount you slather into this wrap. Plus it’s filled with fresh and healthy veggies for a boost of vitamins, and lean roasted turkey to help fill you up. It is SO good plus, you guessed, it’s ready in just 5 minutes!
Start the Mediterannean Turkey Wrap with 1 flour tortilla – any kind you like. I usually go for Whole Foods brand whole wheat tortillas, or Mission’s carb-control wraps. Lay it out on a clean, dry surface.
Next slather on 2-3 Tablespoons hummus. Again – any “flavor” you like! I’m next level obsessed with Sabra’s Roasted Red Pepper Hummus (and I even hate roasted red peppers) but snagged this Roasted Garlic Hummus from Trader Joe’s when I was there the other day. It’s fantastic! Not quite as silky smooth as Sabra, but not grainy like other brands I’ve tried.
Next layer on 2-3 slices roasted deli turkey. I usually try and get the low-sodium variety and can’t taste a single difference.
Note: some sources advise pregnant women to stay away from deli meat. Make the best choice for yourself based on your research and what your doctor tells you. I personally have eaten deli meat only a couple times, and always from a package, not the deli counter.
Now that we’ve gotten the protein part of the wrap taken care of with hummus and deli turkey, it’s time to turn to some fresh produce to jazz it up!
Layer on thin slices of cucumber, tomato, and red onion, and sliced kalamata olives. The key to making sure your wraps are smooth when rolled up and don’t get soggy, is to slice your veggies thin, thin, thin, and especially with tomatoes, squish out the wet seeds.
Next, start at one end and roll ‘er on up!
Slice on the diagonal, stash in a plastic bag or container, and when lunchtime comes around – chow down!

Hummus + Olives are one of my favorite combinations. With the addition of some turkey, these must be fabulous!
You’ve totally sold me. I’m going to pick up ingredients for these someday soon. :)
Sounds and looks delicious! I will have to try that kind of hummus because I usually just get regular.
Yum! I could NOT find anything that sounded good for lunch today. This was just the thing but I just didn’t know it yet.
I can’t understand not liking hummus, it’s kind of amazing. I love throwing it on sandwiches too or TJ’s whole wheat lavash. Have you tried those yet? SO good!
I will definitely make this tonight for dinner! YUM!
You should heat the deli meat for 30 seconds or so in the microwave if pregnant, whether it comes from the deli counter or a package. That was advice from my doctor anyway. I just haven’t bothered to have it – I’d rather just have grilled chicken or something else than deal with it.
Love making wraps to take to work! TJ’s eggplant hummus is to die for….you need to give it a try. Add some avocado to this and you have perfection!
I love humus. My afterwork snack today was half an english muffin toasted with a piece of swiss cheese, ham and spicy red pepper hummus. I also really like adding hummus to scramble eggs, it makes them so creamy.
Oo that’s a fun idea for eggs – I will have to try that sometime!
This looks delicious! I have kind of a love/hate relationship with hummus but it’s mostly love. I hate whole chickpeas though! Makes no sense. :)
I kind of do too! I like them roasted so they get crunchy, but not really on salads and stuff.
Giving up lunch meat during my pregnancies was tough. A few hours after giving birth to my daughter, it was 1:00 am, I was starving because i hadn’t eaten anything for like 14 hours. The nurse brought me a turkey sandwich from the family snack room and I can’t believe how amazing it was. Just white bread and turkey. After waiting 9 months to have lunch meat it was the best thing ever. I’m always looking for new lunch ideas. This looks great!
Ha! Can not believe Ben order it anyway!
This looks so good. I love olives
Iowa City’s local falafel joint, Oasis, has the absolute best hummus I’ve ever had. It puts all others to shame. They sell it at Hy-vee–probably not DM, though. Next time you’re in IC you have to buy some!
I always used to get a hummus turkey wrap at a lunch place near my office when I lived in DC. I can’t believe I’ve never made them myself at home – must do it this weekend!
I love Trader Joes spicy cilantro hummus – might try it in this wrap!
Maybe the hummus wasn’t a very good brand? Brand makes all the difference! My favorite is also Sabra, unless I’m at Bella Luna’s–theirs is amazing! I have just found they are NOT all made the same, haha :)
Yet another great recipe, so healthy and simple :)
The pictures show that the Turkey wrap is delicious and appetizing. I have not tried turkey wrap before but I have eaten Turkey meeat in the past so I guess this is a nice idea. I could not believe that this recipe could be done only for five minutes. It is so nice that it has cucumber, tomato, and red onion, and sliced kalamata olives.
Delish! I don’t understand hummus-haters. I’m with you, sister! Sabra is the best too. Their Roasted Garlic hummus is sooo good if you love garlic!
One of my favorite local restaurants has a sandwich similar to this one. They use a pita and put hummus, spinach, sprouts, cucumber, and tomato on it. I have been OBSESSED with it and have taken to making it weekly for my lunches. I’ll have to change it up a bit and add in some onions and maybe trade the spinach for turkey…or just add the turkey in! In case you want to check out their site, it’s The Lockview in Akron, Ohio (thelockview.com). If you’re ever over this way in Ohio please check them out. Delish!
I made these for the hubs and I this week for our lunches and we both LOVED them! The hummus is the star of the show. We use Sabra Supremely Spicy for an extra kick!

This looks so yummy! And i am definitely a hummus lover. :) I also wanted to comment as far as pregnancy and deli meat go…the fresh off the meat from the actual deli counter is much safer than the packaged. I’m no expert but anything packaged always has added things…including nitrates which is why you would stay away from deli meat. :)

The 5 Minute Mediterranean Turkey Wrap is absolutely delicious!!! I skipped the red onion and kalamata olives but added feta cheese for a salty bite. I don’t have a microwave at my job to use, so it’s nice to change my lunch every once in a while. This is the first recipe I made from your blog. Thank you, Kristin!!!! :-)
