My brother has named his Mazda 3 “Christine”. That car has been trouble since he bought it 4 years ago. He has…
1.t-boned someone coming out of a parking lot
2.it got hail damaged severely another time
3.it got side-swiped in a hit and run in a parking lot
4.the lawn guys at his apt complex were mowing and busted a window when a rock shot up and hit it
5.someone busted out his windows breaking into it!
Whew! I think that’s everything that car has been through-Haha, so def earned that name :)

I always name our cars. One is Al (b/c it is an Altima) the other is Sue (b/c it is a Suburau). We previously had a Volvo that I named Maggie for some random reason. I think I do it b/c my mom always used to name our cars when we were little. We had a car at some time during the 80’s that was a talking car and it’s name (according to its voice) was Harvey.

Please tell me you are going to buy a new bike seat?!! I believe your tush deserves better… :)
Yes, we name all our vehicles! Our current Ford Edge, is “Cliff”, our last car was black and looked fancy, so we called it “The Jag” – it made us feel rich :) And my car in high school was “The Bouncer” because the shocks weren’t so hot! ;)
Iowa Girl Eats 06.03.2011
Hahaha yes I am going to get a new one on Sunday :)

These pancakes are next on my list to make – YUMMM – my favorite kind of muffin! My recipe uses apowdered sugar glaze over the muffins while warm – with a little lemon juice, almond, vanilla – I bet it would be awesome on the pancakes too! I saw the 1 cup Awesome recipe used a egg yolk – did you leave that out?
Dave @ 1cup Awesome 06.03.2011
Kaycie – The egg yolk isn’t necessary. We added it for two reasons. First, it added a little of natural yellow color to the pancakes to give more of a “lemon” look. Also, it thickened up the batter a bit since the lemon juice thins it out. It’s kind of an optional ingredient :)
Iowa Girl Eats 06.04.2011
I quartered their recipe and didn’t want to quarter an egg yolk :) That’s the only reason why I left it out!
Regular Cinderella 06.03.2011
My first car was a Mercury Topaz, which I named Venus.
Those pancakes look delish!
Liza 06.03.2011
My fiance and I have a couple of blue bikes and a blue car, so we have Big Blue, Little Blue and Baby Blue (because mine’s a lighter blue)! Also those pancakes look amazing. And I don’t even like pancakes :)
elise 06.03.2011
omg, so we just got a new car a few days ago and i name all my cars. always have. so kyle and i had a SERIOUS naming session with this new one. it was hilarious…kinda like practice for baby names. only these ones were WAY more ridiculous. he wanted things like suzie the SUV. in the end we went with carson. its a silver CRV and they had to drive it to us from carson CA because there werent any in santa monica. what do you think?
Ellie@fitforthesoul 06.03.2011
hahaha that’s funny about alonzo and eloise. I guess it does match! omgshhhh I’ve loving anything and everything with lemon lately, and I love poppy seeds and I’ve been wanting this kind of pancake. looks delicious! ;)
Kelcie 06.03.2011
Actually my cars tell me their names! Current one is a Focus named Celeste… “as in Celestial”, she told me :-)
erica 06.03.2011
omg. i name everything! LOL (crazy, i know)
my car=alice
bf’s car=bella
buahahahaha. i was in a twilight phase at the time, can you tell ;p
rita in mi 06.03.2011
My car is named Civy (I drive a Civic)… not terribly imaginative :) And these pancakes look awesome. I have a lemon ricotta pancake recipe already that I love, can’t wait to make them again with some poppyseeds thrown in. Yum!
Dave @ 1 cup Awesome 06.03.2011
Honored and humbled that you chose to make our pancakes. Thanks friend! A couple tips that we have learned over the years for making/flipping pancakes.
1. Make the first batch on the griddle a “test batch.” When I say “test batch” I mean eat a plate of pancakes before you eat your actual pancakes. :) The first batter to touch the griddle never looks right because the heat hasn’t been evenly distributed across the griddle yet. Your second batch will turn out looking perfect.
2. I’m not sure what you use for flipping, but we switched to using a big metal spatula for a couple years ago. Before that we used a plastic spatula, but it was just too flimsy. The metal spatula makes it easy slide under the pancake and flip. Ours is from the Pampered Chef )
Aaaaaand now I want some of those friggin’ pancakes. Thanks.
Micah 06.03.2011
Nom!! I want some of those pancakes. Might have to make those on one of my breakfast-for-dinner nights. :)
My car is named Ribbie (as in RBI) since I’m a big baseball fan. Her first big roadtrip was across the state for a game, so it fit her perfectly.
Jamie Boles 06.03.2011
I am new to your blog but really enjoy your posts. I have that exact same strainer (no idea where it came from) and I LOVE it. It’s the best for catching lemon seeds. Happy Friday!
Ashley 06.03.2011
Those pancakes look DIVINE!! I think I have a craving now for breakfast-for-dinner…I love anything lemons, so this would hit the spot.
I always find that I flip my pancakes the best when I’m not even trying. Don’t even think about messing up the flip next time you cook some!
Doc (The Healthy PhD) 06.03.2011
Pretty pictures!
I drive a Chevy Malibu, so of course I named her ‘Barbie’. And my old road bike that died in a car crash was named ‘steel beast’ because it was 30 lbs all steel. It was a good bike, it saved my life!
Chloe (South Beach Girl) 06.03.2011
Alonzo makes me think of Little House on the Prairie and Eloise makes me think of the children’s books, but they’re both great names for bikes!
Those pancakes look awesome, I’ll have to save this recipe for when my bf comes over and I make him breakfast :)
