Chambord Margarita is a classic fresh margarita with a fruity yet not too sweet twist! #cocktail | iowagirleats.com

With spring and patio season on the horizon, now is the perfect time to gather the ingredients to make my ultra refreshing, sweet-tart Chambord Margaritas.

Silver tequila joins fresh squeezed lime juice, homemade 3 minute simple syrup, and Chambord — a black raspberry liquor — in a cocktail shaker full of ice that’s sloshed into cocktail glasses rimmed with homemade sweet and salty lime margarita salt.

This is the spring and summer cocktail you’ve been waiting for!

If you’ve ever had a homemade margarita then you know there’s no going back to a margarita mix once you’ve had a taste. I still have flashbacks to spring breaks of yesteryear when I’d stand tapping my finger on my chin trying to decide which flavor from the WALL OF FROZEN MARGARITAS to slurp down by the beach.

Never again!

That is to say, fresh homemade margaritas are in a league of their own, especially when they’re spiked with Chambord which is a cognac infused with black and red raspberries and vanilla.

Chambord adds a smidge of sweetness and beautiful blush color to this refreshingly tart margarita recipe. I have a near zero tolerance policy for sweet margaritas, so I promise the Chambord doesn’t make them too sweet — just adds a little somethin’ somethin’.

I’m not going to lie, Chambord is a splurge. It’s usually $38-40 at the grocery store but since it’s so strong you only need a bit for each batch, meaning one bottle will (likely) last an entire patio season.

In addition to these margaritas, we like adding a splash to vodka and club soda with lime, or a glass of champagne and fresh raspberries. It’s really tasty!

Chambord Margaritas are great for patio and party season of course, but they’re also really fun for bridal showers on account of the pretty colors. Honestly they’re great for pretty much any festive occasion.

Start by making the 3 minute simple syrup

Stir together 1 cup each water and sugar in a microwave safe vessel then nuke for 3 minutes, stirring halfway through, and cool completely. That’s it! You can make simple syrup one or even two weeks ahead of time.

jar of sugar and water mixture

Next make the sweet and salty lime margarita salt which you’ll use to rim the glasses with. First zest 1 lime with a microplane, being careful to just get the green zest and not the white pith.

Combine the zest with 2 Tablespoons each salt and sugar in a food processor or blender then process until smooth.

Run a lime wedge around the rim of a cocktail glass then dunk it into the lime sugar and salt.

To a cocktail shaker (you could use a big mason jar too,) add 6oz silver tequila, 3oz fresh squeezed lime juice, 2oz simple syrup, and 1oz Chambord then shake, shake, shake.

Strain into the rimmed glasses then sip, sip, hooray!

These sound divine! We love Chambord! For a simple dessert we spoon a couple of TBSP over vanilla ice cream or pound cake! Add a few berries to make it extra special!

    1. Kristin says:

Yum! Love the pound cake idea!

  2. Sandy says:

Made these tonight in Washington DC since the 8 day rains have stopped and neighbors could visit on our decks! Very delicious drink. Hit just the right notes. Thank you for creating this very delicious and favorably prissy summer cocktail.

I do want to make these for my sassy sis in law’s bridal shower! Her color is blush pink so perfect! If I made a large batch before the shower started so you think the drink would lose anything? I don’t want to play bartender the whole Shower ;)

    1. Kristin says:

Yay – how fun!! Nope, you should be good mixing up a big batch then serving them over ice at the party. Maybe lay out the lime sugar and lime wedges so guests can make their own salt rim before pouring, if they want? Have a blast!

    1. Kristin says:

Now you’re talking! I will definitely be making a batch of these!!

  4. SH says:

Is this the same recipe you posted a long time ago that was Chambord Frozen Margaritas that you put in small jars and kept in the freezer? I’ve lost that recipe and they were good!

    1. Kristin says:

Hmm, I don’t think so, this is the only Chambord Margarita recipe I have on the site!

You had me at Chambord! Definitely trying these once we break out our patio furniture for the season. Lincoln just gets more adorable by the day. Hope you are well!

  10. Kate Dvorak says:

I love chambord, so yum, I’ll have to try this ASAP! Also, is your gold polish actually a Jamberry wrap? It looks like Rose gold sparkle. If its not, could I send you some to try?

  11. Terri says:

Oh my, that looks so refreshing. I’ll have to try it. My husband has been mixing Old Fashioned drinks for me lately, using a bourbon made by Mississippi River Distilling Company in LeClaire, IA. They are SO good! I have 1 or 2 every Friday night. :-)

    1. Kristin says:

Sounds like my kind of Friday night! We’ll have to check out that bourbon, too – I’ve never heard of it!

      1. Terri says:

The bourbon is called “Cody Road.” It’s not inexpensive, but it’s so good. Hy-Vee sells it.

  12. Heather says:

Always love your recipes and blog, but I had to chuckle when I saw the photo with your thumb in it…grater scars! Haha! I have the identical ones!

    1. Kristin says:

Bahaha – YES! I will bleed for cheese. ;)
