Everyone, meet your new, go-to summer drink – Boozy Frosé. Boozy Frosé, meet everyone.

“Hiiii Boozy Frosé!”

Now that introductions are out of the way, ummm, you guys – BOOZY FROSÉ! Ok, ok – let me back up. What the heck is Frosé? Lightly sweetened frozen Rosé wine. What makes it boozy? Vodka. Who’s going to love it? EVERYONE!

Frosé + Vodka = Boozy Frosé

Frosé became an internet sensation a few summers ago but it’s just now being cranked out in my Iowa kitchen. Story of my life!

That said, we’re going with “better late than never” here (emphasis on BETTER since hello, vodka!) because this easy, 3-ingredient cocktail recipe has been blended up a bunch of times at my house. It’s the perfect summer drink!

What to know about Boozy Frosé

  • It’s easy. Freeze wine then blend with vodka and strawberry simple syrup. Boom.
  • It’s wine-based. If you don’t like Rosé wine, you probably won’t like Boozy Frosé. If you DO like wine (my people!) you will love this cocktail.
  • It’s NOT sweet. Although it looks like some sort of daiquiri or margarita, this frozen cocktail is essentially just blended frozen wine and vodka, lightly sweetened to taste with homemade simple syrup.

How to Make Boozy Frosé

Step 1: Freeze the Rosé

One thing you need to do is plan ahead for these drinks.

The night before you want to enjoy Boozy Frosé, pour a bottle of Rosé wine into a gallon-size freezer Ziplock bag set inside a dish (in case of leaks) then seal and freeze overnight. Because of the alcohol in the wine, it will not freeze solid.

  • Tip: look for a Rosé that’s darker in color as wine tends to lose a little bit of flavor once frozen.

Step 2: Make the Strawberry Simple Syrup

In a mason jar or glass measuring cup combine water and sugar then microwave until bubbling, 1 – 2 minutes. Stir until the sugar has dissolved then carefully add chopped strawberries and refrigerate overnight. Strain through a fine mesh sieve, and voila – strawberry simple syrup!

You can make this up to 5 days ahead of time.

Step 3: Blend the Frosé

When you’re ready to drink, add the frozen wine to a blender with vodka plus 4 Tablespoons strawberry simple syrup (or more or less.) Blend until smooth then taste and add more simple syrup if desired.

  • Tip: once the Frosé begins to melt the sweetness intensifies, plus the sweetness intensifies once you’ve had a drink, so add more syrup sparingly.

Pour into glasses, stick a straw inside, and get to sippin’, my friend! I hope you love this fun and frosty frozen cocktail – enjoy!

Boozy Frosé is a wine-based slushie that's cold, refreshing — and for adults only! This frosty cocktail recipe will be a hit at happy hour.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle rosé wine, the darker the color the better
  • 1/4 cup vodka
  • 4-6 Tablespoons strawberry simple syrup, depending on how sweet you want the frose

For the Strawberry Simple Syrup:

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup chopped strawberries

Directions

  • Pour the wine into a gallon-size ziplock freezer bag set inside a dish (in case of leaks) then freeze overnight. Wine doesn't freeze solid so don't be concerned if yours is a little slushy.
  • Add the frozen/slushy wine, vodka, and strawberry simple syrup (start with 4 Tablespoons then add more if you like) to a blender then blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

For the Strawberry Simple Syrup:

  • Combine water and sugar in a mason jar then microwave until boiling, 1 — 2 minutes. Stir until sugar dissolves then add strawberries and chill in the refrigerator overnight. Strain through a fine mesh sieve into another jar or measuring cup then discard strawberries. Can be made up to 5 days ahead of time.

Can I make this ahead of time and freeze or do you need to serve right away?

    1. Kristin says:

Yep you can make several days ahead of time!

  2. Taylor says:

Hi! I’m making a frose kit for my cousin who loves it. I’m giving her a bottle each of rose and vodka and i’m planning on putting the strawberry syrup in a cute little bottle. My question is, how long does the strawberry syrup stay good for in an airtight container? Does it all have to be used right away, if not how is it stored?

    1. Kristin says:

Hi Taylor! If refrigerated it will stay good for a month or even longer. It does need to remain refrigerated though.

This sounds delish!! I think I will try with raspberries, blueberries and blackberries. Strawberry is my least favorite ‘berry’!

I didn’t want to wait for everything to freeze/chill overnight so I threw all the chilled ingredients is my cuisinart ice cream maker and turned it on for 30-40 minutes. Success! Frosé ina flash!

  13. Kristi says:

Such a fun idea! Question – could the vodka be swapped out for something else? I’m not a huge fan of it…

    1. Kristin says:

Hi Kristi! I didn’t test anything other than vodka so I can’t say for sure. You could always just do plain Frose by blending frozen Rose wine + the simple syrup!

    2. Colleen Maciag says:

My sister and I just tried this with vodka then tried gin. The gin is amazing!!

      1. Kristin says:

Awesome!! I’ll try it – we always have gin on hand for martinis!
