Sorry Friday Favorites is a little late today. I woke up this morning, turned on my computer, and was met with this lovely sight:
AKA The Blue Screen of Death – BLERG!! (Mac users, I’ll save you the trouble – I know.)
Long story short, since my computer was on the way out anyways – slow hard drive, failing fan (which makes for a really hot lap, btw) – the Geek Squad is transferring the data to an external hard drive so I don’t have to pay $200-300 to get the computer fixed. Because, oh yeah, my tech support contract with them expired this summer. Joy!
The upside is, someone gets to go computer shopping this weekend! ‘Til then, I’m typing away on Ben’s computer and savoring what little control I have left over my digital life through Evernote. Seriously, bless that little application.
Anywho. Tonight I am dragging convinced Ben to go see a movie with me! Can’t decide between James Bond, Life of Pi, and Lincoln. Dying to see all three. Ben, who would see and/or do anything to make me happy, drew the line at Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2. Hmmm, I wonder why?
At any rate, back up your computer this weekend while you still can, my friend. Trust me on this one! In the meantime, please enjoy what remains of my favorite finds from around the web, that were luckily saved in Evernote before the crash, in this week’s Friday Favorites!

Favorite bite: Apple Crisp Shooters. I am all about portion controlled desserts right now, and Apple Crisp is one of my all-time favorite desserts. How adorbs would these be for Thanksgiving?
Favorite RRR. EMPTY WINE BOTTLES IN BOOTS!!!! Why have I never thought of this? My poor boots are sitting all flippy-floppy in the closet right now just begging for some support. If the weekend goes anything like today has, I’ll probably have a couple empty wine bottles to fill ’em up with by Sunday.
Favorite side: Accordion Potatoes with Rosemary and Garlic. Just gorgeous, and such a yummy flavor combination!
Favorite flick: Breaking Dawn Part 2. My brothers and Dad are heading to the Iowa game next Friday, and Ben has to work in the afternoon, so I think my Mom and I are going to sneak away and see it then. Cannot. Wait.
Favorite bite: Mini No-Yeast Cake Batter Cinnamon Rolls. Like my Mini Cinnamon Rolls – but cake batter flavored. I’ve totally been one-upped!
Favorite sip: Pomegranate-Champagne Punch. Pomegranates are back in season, and I’ve been eating them like crazy lately. This pomegranate-champagne punch sounds like it’d be a great addition to my family’s Thanksgiving morning festivities!
Favorite find: Nike Fuelband. I know several people who have the new Nike Fuelband, and they all just rave over its capability to track your movement throughout the day – whether that be running, walking, dancing, or playing basketball – then give you an instant-read on your wrist as to how close you are to reaching a daily fitness goal you preset for yourself. So motivating!
Favorite dinner: Spicy-Sweet Glazed Shrimp. I was cleaning out our freezer the other day (train wreck) when I came across a perfectly good, unopened package of frozen shrimp. Think I know exactly what I’m going to do with it!
Favorite DIY: Thanksgiving Hurricanes. What beautiful, DIY decoration for a Thanksgiving tablescape! I bet you could find all the materials at the $1 store too.
Favorite mmm: Mexican Hot Chocolate with Coconut Whipped Cream. How could you not want to dive nose-first into a big ‘ol mug of this spiced hot cocoa? (Which, btw, is vegan!)
Favorite place: Baros, Maldives. Can you say Maldives resort with optional sand bank dining?! This place is un. real.
Favorite side: Cranberry Pomegranate Sauce. Told ya’ – obsessed! ;) What a fun and yummy spin on traditional cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving.
Favorite nibble: Toffee Pumpkin Pie Bars. Put a fun spin on classic pumpkin pie by cutting them into bars and adding chewy toffee. In my experience, toffee makes everything better.
Favorite fashion: ASOS Skater Dress with Ballet Wrap. Dang, wish I could have found something like this when I was searching for a dress to wear to that wedding a few weeks ago! (Ended up rocking a skirt and blouse from Express, btw.) Flirty with the skirt, but warm with the 3/4 lenth sleeves.
Favorite indulge: Very Moist Chocolate Layer Cake. Forget what I said about portion-controlled desserts, mmkay?
Have a very wonderful weekend, everyone!

[…] all have a pink hue to them. I got a new camera which I’m still trying to figure out, and still using Ben’s computer which is much more color saturated (or whatever the heck that’s called – sheesh!) than […]

I went to the Michigan/ Iowa game this past weekend! :) It was my first collge game I have ever attended. Sorry, I was going for Michigan. :) Love the list this week. HOpe you had a great weekend :)

Backing up computer files is one of those things that’s really easy to put off, but I finally did it yesterday! I have a feeling the blue screen of death will be making a visit to my computer soon. It’s been slowing down and crashing programs lately (also making strange noises) :(
My husband and I watched Skyfall yesterday and it was good! We watched it in IMAX and luckily we had a gift card, otherwise watching movies in the theater is so expensive!

I’ve had my Fuel Band for almost a year now and I LOVE it! I wear it every single day and even run around my apartment at 10PM to reach my goal if it hasn’t been met yet. It is fantastic!

I use rolled up financial times in my boots and it works like a charm. I love the pink newspaper

You don’t realize how much you rely on your computer until it is gone!!! I know you probably don’t want to hear it again, but mac is the only way to go : ) I’ve had my MacBook for 5 years now, and it still runs like brand new. I agree that there is a slight learning curve with it, but you will not be sorry if you switch : )

The apple crisp shooters look amazing. You have such a beautiful blog, with great photos. I am enjoying exploring it. Sorry to hear about your computer problems, I hate that.
Amanda 11.17.2012
I thought two things when I saw the Instagram post with the blue screen of death… 1) How is she going to post the Friday Favorites?! and 2) Someone needs to tell her she needs a Mac! I’m glad I am not the only one with that awesome advice and glad you got to post your Friday Favorites, which have become a highlight of my weekend!
Diana 11.17.2012
Eek! I’m sorry your computer crashed. Makes me THAT much more thankful that my husband just got our hard drive set up. At least computer shopping will be fun!
I can’t wait to see Twilight. I’m so not ashamed of it either. Doesn’t matter what age I really am. ;)
I had to pin the Maldives picture. I’ve wanted to go there forever!
Happy weekend!

Congrats on the Centsational Girl mention! I saw it and couldn’t believe someone from Iowa was being highlighted! I’m an Iowa girl myself and am happy for your success. :)

Awww it’s Evie and Grandma!! Thanks for the heads up!

The bakery I work at in Clive makes those apple crisp shooters (we call them pie or cake-tinis and put all sorts of flavor combos in there.) Super popular for dinner parties/ corporate events! You can get the mini cups & utensils at Nobbies or Party City.

SEE SKY FALL!!!!!! One of the best movies I have ever seen!
Mandy @ Eat Pray Grow 11.17.2012
Seriously, though, what better time for the computer to crap out than the week before black friday?? Maybe you’ll get an awesome deal on your new one!
Afton 11.17.2012
I recommend going and seeing Skyfall. I’m not a huge Bond fan, but I liked it!
Michelle 11.17.2012
I was debating on making the leap to a MacBook or sticking to what I know and I’m SO GLAD I made the switch!!!! I will NEVER but another windows product/IBM again. The Genius Bar at applies truly amazing and the use ability of my MacBook Pro is very versatile! Talks to my iPhone great and it’s well worth every penny spent!!!
Robin 11.16.2012
Always love your Friday Favorites. We have a computer fading fast so I think the backing up is a great idea. Good luck Monday early. Yum. Really need to try some of these desserts.
Bonnie 11.16.2012
Looking forward to seeing if more of your readers love/hate the NikeFuel band – I was surprised to see that it has about as many 1 star ratings as 5 stars on amazon … so that had me concerned. But with the cost, I might just work to be active and not worry about tracking it :)
Great favorites, again! I’m glad you pushed through to post!

Oh, also, I finally switched to a Mac last month after being a lifelong PC user. It has been a bit of a learning curve, but so far I’m loving my MacBook Pro!
