Yesterday some of my best girlfriends and I got together for a good ol’ fashioned bridal shower!
Us girls have been friends since high school, and my friend Laura is getting married in May. We had to be there to celebrate and support. :)
Isn’t she gorgeous? Talk about a Barbie bride!
We took the opportunity to re-take the classic synchronized swimming picture circa Jr or Sr year of high school. My, what a difference a decade makes!
From boys and yearbooks, to husbands and babies, I’m so glad we’ve all remained so close over the years! :)
Afterwards, Ben re-proposed to me with a ring pop and we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant, Monterrey, for dinner.
Cheese enchilada with a side of rice (how do they get their rice so fluffy and perfect? HOW?!)
and a healthy sized mug of beer. :)
Insert March Madness and margaritas at the local watering hole, and we were ready to call it a night by 10pm. Those are my favorite kinds of nights. Get out early, have some fun, then get yo’ butt in bed at a reasonable hour. Yes?

Looks like a fun night. You are all so cute. My high school crew is very close. We usually get together all of us 1-2 times per year. Most of us are spread out on the west coast, but we make a point to see each other when we can. ANd because we’re in the marriage and baby stages, we have more fun excuses to see each other here and there. I’m so happy I’ve remained so close with people who have known me since I was a kid. It really just makes the friendships different than the ones I have with people I’ve only known a few years.
I love my HS friends!! Such an amazing weekend… I miss you already!!! Muah!
I definitely stay in touch with my 3 best friends from HS. Despite being married first out of the group — I’m the last to become a mom (they all became moms this year — it’s crazy!) I haven’t seen them since October and I get to this weekend as I’m back in IA! Cannot wait :)
Since my hubby and I went to high school together, we have stayed in touch with a small group of friends over the past 20 (yes, we’re old!) years. We actually just stayed with some friends out of town last weekend who were the first of our high-school-sweetheart-couples friends to get married some 16 years ago–the guy was in my husbands class, and the girl and I have been friends since junior high. A dinner party at their place last weekend included 4 guys from my husbands class. Crazy how time flies!
I still see my high school friends a lot. We’ve actually all been friends since 6th grade. That’s going on 18 years now (we’re all 28/29 now)!
Sounds like such a fun day. It has to be great to be reunited with old friends. How awesome that you girls have stayed so close over the years.
I have one friend I am still in touch with that started at my grammar school in the 6th grade and we are 47 this year. I have a handful from High School and college too. In fact, one I met during a Junior Achievement Conference in 1981 (wow really 30 yrs) will be seeing each other next weekend.
Many of my friends are the ones I started Kindergarten with! We’ve all managed to stay really close, through moving off to college, then marriages, and babies. I feel truly best to have such close friends that I’ve known practically my entire life! (:
My best friends are ones I have known since kindergarten and middle school. We still get together at least once a month. It’s been harder since we have all started having children, but we make a point to still talk regularly!
Aww, that’s so sweet that you guys keep in touch like that! As for me, no, I don’t keep in touch with anyone that I knew before I was 20, lol.
Actually….a bunch of us that went to school together (Saydel ~ Class of 1981!! Woot Woot!!) meet once a week in the evening for a few cocktails & food. Sometimes we take a little road trip to a small town bar nearby, always with a DD of course. We have a ball together! Laugh till we are sore the next day!
Those are my kind of nights out too. Sounds like a fabulous time! And has left me officially craving a beer or a margarita.
I graduated from HS class of 1982. I had several close friends then and we stayed in touch for a number of years after grad. After a while we just grew apart. That’s okay. It is still nice to run into people now and again.
Now my MIL is a different story. She just had lunch with two women that she has stayed close to for over 81 years! I think that is wonderful.
