Today’s giveaway in the Month of Holiday Giveaways is something I’ve been THIS excited to share with you – a Blendtec Blender! More on that in a minute though, as I want to share the to-die-for smoothie I’ve been making with it recently first. Grab your shades (and your appetite!) for a vitamin-packed Sunrise Smoothie!
This tropical-tasting smoothie combines the antioxidant power of frozen berries with a blast of vitamin C from a whole orange, a punch of potassium from a frozen banana, and staying power from protein-packed Greek yogurt. It tastes like a vacation in a glass, and is seriously the perfect way to wake up.
Clocking in at around 350 calories (depending on how big your orange and banana are,) with 1 gram of fat, 14 grams of fiber, and 15 grams of protein, this smoothie is as healthy as it is TOTALLY SUCK WORTHY. Which is a good thing – when you’re talking about smoothies anyways. ;)
This thick and frosty smoothie could not be easier to make, either. Start with a blender. Blendtec Blenders sent me thier Total Blender Classic Wildside to try a few months ago (the same one they’re giving away at the bottom of this post) which I am in total awe of.
More computer than blender, well ok, mostly still blender, this thing makes way more than your standard smoothie. From frozen yogurt and milkshakes, to soups, batters, and juice, I’ve been using it so much over the past couple of weeks that it’s received a coveted, permanent spot on my tiny kitchen counter. That, my appliance-loving friends, is when you know you’ve got something great on your hands.
Now – about that smoothie! To the blender jar add 1 cup organic frozen berries, and 1 frozen banana. Tip: I always slice or squish my banana up in a ziplock bag before freezing it. Makes it a whole lot easier to blend.
Next add 1 peeled & segmented orange, plus 4 – 6oz Greek yogurt. I used a 5.3oz container of Vanilla Oikos Yogurt. It tasted like icing!
Put the lid on top, press “smoothie”, then let the blender do the work. Depending on what “cycle” you’ve chosen, the Blendtec Blender will change speeds at different times to give you the perfect consistency. It’s actually really cool!
30 seconds later – voila! Sunrise Smoothie.
Pour into a cup and slurp on the go, or enjoy while you’re getting ready for the day. Either way, it’ll power you way past lunchtime!
