There’s an area of covered porch in our new home, which has always been at the top of my “Dream Big” list, so I’ve been spending as much time out there as possible over the past week and a half. Last night I had a total pinch me moment when I watched a massive thunderstorm roll in while listening to the cicadas screaming in the trees behind us (my favorite sound of summer,) then sat and watched the rain fall and fall and fall (and fall, my goodness). The only thing that could have made the moment more summery is if lightening bugs could blink and fly in torrential rain. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, VIVA SUMMER! ?
Today I’m also screaming “VIVA DIPS!” because summer is dips’ time to shine. Dunked into with chips, crudite or, my personal favorite, a spoon, they compliment any warm-weather occasion. BBQs, picnics, deck sailing, pool/lake day, girl’s night – you get the idea! That said, today I’m sharing 5 of my best, most tasty and irresistible dip recipes that you MUST try before the sun sets on this glorious season. From savory dip recipes perfect for pairing with tortilla chips, to refreshing sweeter dips that enhance summer’s freshest fruit, you cannot go wrong with any of these incredible dip recipes!
5 Irresistible Summer Dips
Pickle Wrap Dip
There’s nothing more tasty than the Midwestern summer snack time delicacy of dill pickles rolled in corned beef that’s been slathered with cream cheese then sliced. There’s nothing more tasty and EASY than chopping everything up and serving it as a chip busting dip instead! Pickle Wrap Dip is my #1 most favorite dip recipe here on IGE – there, I said it! So zesty, so irresistible.
Copycat Trader Joe’s Everything But the Bagel Dip
I’m a sucker for sour-cream based dips (I could eat Lay’s potato chips dipped in a tub of sour cream and call it dinner,) so I swapped the Greek yogurt in Trader Joe’s smash hit, Everything But the Bagel Dip, with sour cream and OH MY, it’s so fantastic!!! If you don’t have a TJ’s nearby and can’t get your hands on their pre-made Everything But the Bagel seasoning blend, I’ve included a recipe for a homemade version here too. This dip is great for picnics and BBQs, especially.
The Best Fruit Dip EVER
I’ve been eating The Best Fruit Dip EVER each summer since I was a kid. The recipe is from an old church cookbook so you know it’s got to be good. ? Made from just 3 ingredients, it’s incredibly refreshing when paired with strawberries, grapes, and pineapple, though I’ve been known to scoop it by the spoonful. YOLO. This is a fantastic pool-side dip (even the blow up kind, which is what I’m rocking!)
Secret Ingredient Restaurant-Style Salsa
I think salsa is technically a sauce or condiment, but my Secret Ingredient Restaurant-Style Salsa is still making this list because it’s a MUST HAVE for summer! Cold, zippy, and refreshing, it’s perfect for serving alongside frosty margaritas with tortilla chips on hot summer nights. No restaurant required…and honestly, this version tastes better than a restaurant’s.
2 Ingredient Lemon Whip Fruit Dip
This whippy, lemony fruit dip is a total dream, especially because it’s made from just two ingredients. Lemon Whip Fruit Dip is also allergy friendly in that it’s gluten free and can easily be made vegan as well. In a time where vacation is pretty much not a thing, this dip is like a tropical getaway in dippable form. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up.
Bonus!
Warm Fig & Prosciutto Goat Cheese Dip
Ok, I can’t help but sneak in a little preview of fall with my favorite autumn dip – Warm Fig & Prosciutto Goat Cheese Dip. Warm and cheesy, with salty pops of prosciutto and sweet fjg jam, it is truly irresistable. Keep this sweet and savory dip recipe in your back pocket for a few months down the road. ?
Darn you, Kristen! I haven’t thought about that cream cheese, prosciutto, fig jam dip for a long time and now I’m going to have to make it! :) It’s my absolute fave!!
These all look delicious! And enjoy your front porch and send some rain our way!
Ugh, yes, Iowa is so thirsty right now – and this HEAT! Crazy times – hope you’re well, Val!
Cicadas are my favorite sound of summer as well. Part of my daily routine is sitting on our back deck in the evenings and listening to them. These dips look yummy. I’ll have to give them a try.
Best time and sound of the year. So peaceful. ☺️
I just love that last one! I have, somehow, 2 rather large jars of fig jam, and I never know what to do with them once I’ve made a recipe I’ve bought them for. This sounds yummy, and when things get back to normal, it’s perfect for bringing to a small event with friends. (Almost forgot what those are!) Enjoy your summer! We’re now in Florida, and summer is just a thing to be gotten through.
I love this recipe using fig jam! https://iowagirleats.com/fig-goat-cheese-pistachio-stuffed-chicken-fig-balsamic-pan-sauce/
